(DNO) A case of libel against Senior Counsel Anthony Astaphan, local proprietor Franky Bellot, and Mervin Paul, Senior Information Officer at the Government Information Service, is no longer before the court.
Former Prime Minister Edison James and prominent journalist Lennox Linton had sued the three for claims that James had paid Linton monies through an account in St. Kitts on a radio program.
But the matter, described by Astaphan as “an abuse of the process of the court”, has now been thrown out of court.
“The judge agreed with us and threw it out entirely, and ofcourse she ordered that the statement of claim and the reply filed by Mr. Linton and Mr. James be struck out in its entirety, that they pay us costs to be assessed or agreed,” reported Astaphan on Friday.
He also disclosed that the judge also gave Linton and James the go-ahead to file a new case against Astaphan, Bellot, and Paul, if they so desired.

I must agree it is extremely wrong to consider Lennox a journalist. Biasness is definately not a strait of a journalist! I am soooo fed up of Lennox, Eddie and the rest of the guys! We need to come together and stop this bashment of each other. Eddid and the guys really need to regroup because that are even losing some supportss they had in the last election. Personally I wouldn’t even call Linton a journalist. The hallmarks of a journalist are balance, fairness and objectivity.
Linton tend to report selectively in favor one one side making him more of a party activist than a journalist.
While journalists are entitled to their political opinion it should not interfere with the objectivity and balance in their reporting.
You just begin to see Lennox at work and you better keep walking and looking over your shoulder because he will go where it takes him so dont you worry about him the likes of you and others will never stop because we stand with him. and you have to be the biggest sap around to believe everyone win their case if you have that mind set I feel sorry for you but what yopu have to concern yourself with is how your fellow Dominicans are living and how many of them you have helped along the way that’s what you should be about instread of taking pot shots at Lennox because he couldnt give a D– m what you have to say about him so do I because I am not any politic or party gal I see the fact and my people are in trouble their voces must be heard and not you or you party will stop them.
