Fond Cole man faces manslaughter charge, granted bail

Jean Jacques was killed during the incident
Jean Jacques was killed during the incident

A man who was involved in a deadly altercation in Fond Cole has been charged with manslaughter.

Don Hilton Bobb appeared in court on Tuesday and was granted bail in the sum of $50,000.

The charge stems from the incident which occurred last Friday in Fond Cole at a liquor shop during which Jashvin Jean Jacques was allegedly stabbed in the chest.

He subsequently died from the wound.

It is alleged that Jean Jacques assaulted Bobb with a cutlass and Bobb sustained multiple injuries to his head, finger and other parts of his body.

He was admitted to hospital but has since then been discharged.

Bail conditions include reporting to the Roseau Police Station every Monday and Friday between 7:00 am and 7:00 pm and surrendering all travel documents.

Preliminary inquiry is set to begin on November 25.

Justice and Truth you have a loose tongue that needs to be kept in check. You seem to have an opinion om everything. Were you on the scene to say that the man is lying? I think the police should bring you in for questioning.

Just like a case recently of a stabbing where a young woman stabbed someone else ƒø® no reason just because the young woman ωαѕ ignoring her insults and guess wat her lawyer said its self defense gave their lyin story n she won her case leavin d victim with all her scars ƒø® life jus bcuz she ignored the Dfendant..so that’s the justice system

Poor system! You inflict injury and wombs, you pay for it through monetary compensation and imprisonment. That is the Law and should be the DA Law.
I have always stated the DA Law is unfair. This would never happen in Canada or the US and I also expect Europe of all which comprises Great Britain.

Mr green threatened witnesses right in the court, thats why he was not granted bail

Thank God everyone does not possess the identical opinion. Green depicted he has a bad temper and was angry.
Even though people threatened witnesses, can it be assured and proven that they will, in effect, carry out their threats?
Do you know the saying, “Their bark is louder than their bite?”
He should have been bailed out and given a restraining order. To keep him in prison for all those years made his situation, anger and health worse.
Those Dominican authorities are in dire need of learning about character, personality traits and psychology. They do not know how to deal with such situations. They do not know what it takes. Overall, re-training is required.

Dis is self defense n if is I hav to defende my life in situation like dat he may hav gotten 1 stabbed buh after he died I still givin him couple oda stabs. In dat case day will hav sumting to really charge me for. Silly ppl

Self defense? Think! You have not heard the full story and truth and may never hear it for the man is dead. You will not hear his side of the story and how this situation commenced. Ask yourself who started this fracas? Are you implying that the man who is alive did not start it? Why did the other man who died started it? This is what you have to ask yourself.

Mr Hilton did not start the fight. The dead guy left after he was told “I am not playing with children” and got a cutlass. He started it…so get ur facts straight before u sit behind a computer and…
DNO might not what to publish this but just a few days before he fought with his old uncle at Grand Fond….The police were looking for him and he was hiding in Fond Cole looking for his dead

So, if two men got into a fight, and one kills the other; does the living fighter (who will live to fight again)automatically becomes a “self defender?” Could somebody explain to me what self defense really is?

I feel this man told a blunt lie. It is not possible for him to injure a man in such a manner so as to kill him and he is saying the man raised his cutlass and injured him and that he was defending himself. Anyone who hears his story should conclude that he is not telling the truth. He is withhholding evidence.

I was in the middle of the conflict, the guy that died actually went home for his cutlass and came back and cut the guy that defended himself and all he told the kid he don’t play domino with little boys so get your facts straight!

At this moment there is only so much DNO can divulge. Jean Jacques came after him with a cutlass. Surely something occurred prior to this which caused Jean Jacques to attack him. Unless he is a mad man. Generally, people do not attack others for no reason.
What about him? Did he have a weapon in his hand to retaliate or did he go to his home and get a weapon which inflicted a womb to Jean Jacques’ chest and killed him?
As the saying, “Dead men tell no tales.” I hope there were eyewitnesses to this incident and that if they are witnesses in Court they will tell the truth. Surely, at least someone else knew how this commenced and who was really the instigator. May the truth prevail.

questions to “be wise” was mr green charge with manslaughter? answer NO! #2 is manslaughter a bailable offence? Yes! so what you talking about?

    • June 25, 2013

Manslaughter is a bailable offence, but why is there even a charge when according to the report the deceased was the first to attack with a deadly weapon. Unfortunately, the deceased is dead because the other victim DEFENDED himself. Two men got into an altercation, one attacked with deadly force, he is dead, the other, alive but sustained injuries by the deceased prior to fighting back, defending himself. I do not get it.

This is the first step of an easy walk to freedom for the axcused. I understand it is a case of self defense. He has every right to defend himself. That being so, he will most certainly walk free. But he must use that as a learning curve for himself. Other young people must also learn from that sorry incident. The aggressor always lose – no matter what the outcome.
