Timothy appeared in court on Friday

Dwight Timothy, a former staff of the National Cooperative Credit Union (NCCU), has been arrested and charged for theft of over $33,000 at that institution.

Timothy appeared before Chief Magistrate, Candia Carette-George, on Friday where the charge was read to him.

He was not required to plea.

He was placed on bail in the amount of $30,000 and is represented by lawyer Kondwani Williams.

As part of his bail conditions Timothy is to surrender all his travel documents, drivers licence, Social Security Card and is to report to the Roseau Police Station Monday, Wednesday and Saturdays between 7:00 am and 7:00 pm. He is also to refrain from interfering with the prosecution’s witnesses.

The matter has been adjourned to April 15th, 2016.

This whole story doesn’t add up; the population needs the truth… I hope they save up to pay this young man for damaging his very reputable ambassador like reputation!!!

What whole story? Were you involved?

I want to know why this young man’s face is all over the media like that, when perpertrators of other crimes like rape, whom we should see their faces are not show in public. DNO AND MARPIN, I am so not pleased that you decide to show his face and not the face of those rapists and other. Why should we have to know this person and not know the rapists and thieves so that we can be cautious?

Please think over that policy. If you think its ok to show his face, then please do the same for the thieves and rapists

it is obvious you are not familiar with the laws of the land. the only faces that are not shown is when persons are charged with sexual offences. their names and faces are only shown if and when they are convicted for the crime. in a case like theft there are no provisions in the law to prevent the names or photos of the person charged from being shown in the media.

Dominicans appear to be police, jury and judge based on their comments in relation to an article which simply states that an individual was “charged” for a crime. Being charged simply means that one is being accused of wrongdoing…it in no way implies that the accusation has been proven to be correct or even justified. Let us say for example that your neighbor accused you of stealing his generator from the back of his house and during trial the facts revealed that it was actually the neighbor who hid his own generator in your yard to set you up…however, long before the trial your arrest and charge was publicized in the News. During that time every Dominican had already called you all manner of thieves, decided how severe your punishment should be and stated what they would do to you if it was their generator you stole. Now, after the trial, when it is discovered that it was your wicked neighbor who tried to set you up…the damage to your reputation has already been done.

It is rather interesting that someone is charged and arrested before they begin searching for concrete evidence! How can one guy take so much money in such short time from the same account or how can one man make a withdrawal without the signature of a customer or supervisor even to add why was it that the boy home was raided with nothing found….. questions to be answered …………………… I smell a big rat

    • Idiot

Ummm who told you that’s how the theft happened? Who told you it was over a short period of time? Save yourself some embarrassment of formulating and expressing your own opinion based on information you do it have by being quiet

      Interesting. .
how can a person be charged without evidence? Wat do u consider to be a short period of time.. this was done over a period of time and not from one persons account All signatures were forged. Obviously the news cannot get into the nitty gritty of stuff. U don’t kno so don’t talk. The rat that u smell is the one who was charged.

Apologize to those you have wronged and learn from this , temptations may occur at anytime to anyone in any form don’t let the opinions of others keep you down dust yourself up and forward young man.

We can’t only blame these people. We have to blame those in charge as well because sometimes, employees do these things and they allow it to slide. Don’t you know a thief is always a thief?! If you let it slide they will find a better way to do it. They will blame their actions on all sorts of things but themselves. They will say the devil made them do it but it is their life style. These people will decay an institution to the ground yet the bigger heads do nothing about it. Who they want to let go they let go, and who smile and have a secret deal with a bigger head will get away.

Whats wrong with these people making people hard earned money burn their eyes and trying to leave above their means. But they always get job anyway while honest educated people cannot get work. The recent one at insurance company, the girl by Lindo Mart fromTrafalgar; The one at Astaphans; Mr. Bunch ……..The list goes on. The law is too lenient with these things..Then again the cases gets dropped…smh! Screwed up system.

A senior citizen died in Europe not too long ago. when the cleaners emptied the house they found 60 million euros in a mattress. the senior citizen was 90. so maybe a mattress is a safer place and more interest

ridiculous as it may sound its true maybe its better to keep money at home instead of the bank… as the bible says whats good is heaping up riches and not using it … someone else will use it for you……

  13. November 23, 2015

This young man could have been any ones family,i do not condone theft but i think that it is not wise to put someones photo on a news paper for all the world to see even though he or she is charged for what ever crime, because even someone is charged for a crime at the later end after the case he could be found innocent and by showing his photo ,human beings are always happy to see their kind being walked over ,this young man will always be looked upon as a thief…why not wait till someone is found guilty to show their picture? What goes around comes around,if he is found guilty make him give back every cent that he took and send him to prison so that due to his actions this punishment may deter others from stealing…now his family especially his parents must feel a shame of the mess he is in now…

I do not condone what they claimed he did but innocent till proven guilty, then you can print or publicise his picture. Why didn’t you guys publicised the staff of Scotia bank who were claimed to be involved in one of the biggest bobol in Dominica”s history .and what about the other banks like first Caribbean and national bank. Well they were not publicised because they were prominent persons. This young man is a poor person’s son so he is treated as such. I will be watching because more bobols will be committed by other persons very soon and when it does let us see if they are treated the same way. Hold tight Dwight. I am praying for you and Ann and your granny.

      Priest
      Parson
      Reverend
      Bishop
      Doctor,
      Teacher
      Lawyer
      Engineers of all kinds
      Police
      magistrates
      Judges
      Civil servants of all kinds

Do not even trust an undertaker, because it has happened where they bury people in the day time, and at night they return and dig up the grave, dump the dead in the hole cover it and steal the coffin!

A man like that when he see people like the politicians; Skerrit with all that wealth, that he desires, he may have said if one man can thief all of us can do the same; we live by example, so do not blame him too much; I do not condone the crime however!
