Four men remanded in Tarish Pit shooting incident

Four men have been remanded after bail was denied by a Roseau magistrate for their alleged involvement in a shooting incident which occurred at Tarish Pit on Sunday.

Alton Eusebe of La Plaine, Shermannie Peter of Goodwill, Marvin Roberts of Mahaut and Mandella Gordon of Goodwill were slapped with a number of firearm and drug-related offenses when they appeared before Chief Magistrate Evelina Baptiste this morning.

The charges are: possession of a 12-guage shot gun without the appropriate license, possession of 11 live rounds of 12-guage shot gun ammunition, the possession of a prohibited sawed off 12-guage shot gun, possession of cannabis, and possession of 11 rounds of live 12-guage shot gun ammunition on the La Plaine Public Road without a license (Alton Eusebe).

Gordon pleaded guilty to two of the possession of firearm charges, while Eusebe pleaded guilty to the possession of cannabis.

All the defendants pleaded not guilty to all other charges.

The men will reappear at court on December 30 for their bail to be reviewed.

There are reports emerging from Tarish Pit that men went on a ‘shooting spree’ in the community last weekend.

More details later.

Good job, officers. We always seem so displeased when they don’t do their job right, so when they do, please applaud the guys! Next thing is, where do they get those weapons from, who brings them into the country, who is responsible for the distribution of these high caliber firearms?

I have the answer to all this crazy things/ statements made all over the radio stations.

    Be it DBS, KIARI, Q95….ETC….

First the government to put in place a DCC (Dominica Communications Commission) like the FCC in the USA to regulate the airwaves.

Next if a radio station need a license to operate a talk show it must employ the following:-
    1) A PRODUCE for the show
    2) AN EDITOR for the show
    3) A 20 Seconds delay broadcast by the station
4)A one (1) MILLION EC dollar deposit
    5) The talk show host must have a broadcasting License renewable each year at $1000 Ec.

The million dollars will be held in a bank account just in case there is any libel suit again the station and it host.

That way the host will now have to moderate (control) its callers.

I think this should be the way forward after all this back and forth.
