Lagoon nightclub shooting suspect detained

Police have detained a young man in his early 20s in connection with the shooting incident near a popular nightclub in Lagoon Portsmouth.

Spokesman Claude Weekes said law enforcement officials are moving to have the individual charged before the courts as early as this morning.

The shooting has left 36-year-old Abraham Prince of Colihaut nursing a gunshot wound in the Princess Margaret Hospital.

The suspect is to be charged with firearm related offences, including the unlawful possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition.

The incident occurred during the early hours of Saturday morning.

Police say they are unsure of the motive for the shooting.

This is the second such incident in Portsmouth. The suspect in the other case has also been arrested and charged with gun-related offences, while his victim sits in a wheelchair.

i agree with you pumkin. Unless there’s a crime committed which is directly related to the Chief Magistrate all the criminals can be assured to walk free!!!!!!!!!!!

Another one of the Chief Magistrate’s masterpieces. Mr. Behanzin put him in….she let him out. Result = another man got shot. Another situation which could have been avoided if it weren’t for the chief’s ongoing war with Mr. Behanzin.

And then set him free and go look for a little man smoking a spliff in his yard and jail him for 7 years. We are so full of BS in this country. Our priorities are all wrong. Focus on serious crime, and leave man alone with their weed……The police have nothing better to do, or so it would seem when you see where the efforts of thwarting crime lie.

And to top it off, the police, the politicians themselves are a bunch of crooks, not all I can only suppose, but they support each other and protect each other so one bad apple (well a lot of bad apples) have spoil all. And the Prosecutors office, the AG turn a blind eye to it all…

Dominica’s going down the drain. Not that the public opinion matters to our current administration, but DNO should ask the readers what they really think of life in Dominica today? I do not like what we have become at all.

Politicians who do not serve the country but serve themselves, they do not know when to stop fighting and get together to work for Dominica. Its so petty and childish, its like being in preschool. When are we going to truce it and start doing the RIGHT thing?? Eh Skerro, Eh Eddie?
