A man who, it is said, is a supervisor at Phone Tech, has been arrested and charged for reportedly stealing over $51,000 from the company.

Phone Tech manages the LIME Store in Roseau.

Police PRO, Inspector John Carbon, has identified the man as Michael Peters of a Goodwill address.

The alleged theft took place between June 2 and 7, 2013, according to the police.

The 37-year-old is expected to appear in court tomorrow (June 27).

Though this has nothing to do with this case. But I am hoping people who have the power make a change (everyone of us) read this:

We need leaders to stand for our people. We need people who are interested, not in their own personal gain, but in improving the lives of the Dominican people.

Good Dominicans who can find a job, work hard.(Clearly I am not referring to or supporting dishonest workers)
How are good, hard working employees rewarded?: “High taxes” ” High prices on consumer goods” and ” High import duties” to say the least.

Woe to those who cannot find a job.

We need people who can fight for the better(ment) of Dominican lives and standards of living.

Why does basic and necessary provisions have to be soo expensive that only a selected few can afford and look down on those who don’t.

Why are there so many poor people hanging their hats high on empty promises?

I look around at other countries in the Caribbean and I wish we had some of the economic successes that they have.

Please take the time and energy to change this around, implement measures that help stimulate and grow our economy and improve the lives of our people. (Not just the rich but help provide opportunities to help the middle class and lower classes too)

    We will thank you

don’t put your hand in fire for no one. you will get burn. read the news paper from a few years ago. I not saying that he did or did not do it I just sayin the police have their reasons for charging the man.not because things don’t reach the media or make headline news. not all police reports on a person makes news.

Thieves abound in DA and it time that they get their due. If it’s LIME it gets to court fast, but if it is you or me, you are lucky is the police do anything.

for those of you blasting this young man, i have worked with him for 5 years and he is a very intelligent young man, and he is innocent until proven guilty, while we there blasting him for stealing it might as well be the manager or another memeber of staff that stole he money, and i am n saying that his is right if he stole it he should pay price but hell we go through so much in life that we do things and not even remember there is a consequence to pay..he is not the first and certainly not last for all the other business places that under paying their workers and not giving medical benefits beware because society is now become wiser and are getting the money other ways..with that being said mr peters i will pray for u and your family because right now u are in a deep whole.

DNO here we go again, the police gave a vague report, but it is your responsibility to probe and give a balanced information. Are your reporters capable of investigating or are they there to be the mouth piece of the police. A report which simply repeats what the police say is useless.

allu straying from the politics at the top. Really…. I’m not sure if everyone commenting seem to leave comfortable lives.. i’m a 22yr old male. The Economy Need to change. If not it’s simple. We suffer from lack of jobs, low income even with jobs. wasted education that cannot be applied here. What’s worst is that its clear that the person elected to assist and bring development shows so clearly that this small saying is tru… “The rich will get rich and poor get poorer”. So what’s left for a young bachelor out of university working for a few hundreds monthly with rent, loan medical problems and much more. People will result to similar or worst action than what’s in question here. This is only a stain on a white sheet about to fall in mud. Hope someone who can make a change had time to read and pull some plan together…

Sure sounds that financial and accounting loopholes exist within the company along with inadequate checks and measures. The company needs to conduct a review of its processes. The individual recognized the loophole/s, was tempted, succumbed and eventually got caught. Innocent until proven guilty so let the jury decide his fate. How to blemish your name and reputation. Tough!

I don’t really care for the gentleman’s name, but I think the public has a right to know who is arrested for a crime committed in the country. If the police is not competent enough to arrest the correct person “publicly” then steps should be taken.

People please don’t put the cart before the horse. An individual is innocent before proven guilty. Right now all people are doing is having a lot of speculation. Typical Dominicans with a lot of hear say. You want to condemn someone without knowing all the facts. Think about it, the man was there for 3 months and he already stole 51000.00 by himself really? I don’t think it was just him or maybe he is just the scape goat..either way we don’t know for sure until the matter is thoroughly investigated…let’s cross our fingers on that one as our police force typically is never up to the challenge….anyway there is more to this story than meets the eye..there are a lot of low people in high places which use unsuspecting innocents

    • Crabfest
      June 27, 2013

A person is presumed innocent until proven guilty. However, you may know for a fact that a person is guilty if you have proof without doubt, and even when the court sometimes rule that one is innocent it could be that there is not enough evidence or some other technicality, so not even the court can always determine guilt. You may have read about a man who went to prison for raping a woman. Ten years later DNA test proved that he was innocent, and mind you, the innocent man was mistakenly identified by the victim in a police line-up. So before we condemn the accused just remember that it is possible that you end up in a similar predicament.

The wages you failed to pay the workmen who mowed your fields are crying out against you. Oh and of course if someone is successful they must have “murdered innocent men” or “failed to pay wages”. It couldn’t have been hard work or a good product or good business practices.

He has been charged, but no convicted. It would be really WISE if folks wait to hear the conclusion of it all. So many innocents sit in prison. Dominicans are full of criticism and very quick to BELIEVE everything they hear and slow to weigh the details based on truth. It is better to observe and be quiet until the TRUTH is available.

Also, Dominicans love to rejoice when a fellow countryman/woman falls because they hate to see people prosper. On the contrary, when one prospers, not too many congratulatory comments follow. Don’t you people have children? brothers? sisters? husbands? wives? None of these is immune to the ills of life.

Disclaimer: I don’t know this individual, never heard of him – nonetheless, he is a fellow D’can, just another fellow earthling, human.

Are you saying that the man was not arrested? That is the only thing that the story said. At no point did this article state that he was guilty. If the gentleman in question was indeed arrested then the story is true. and if the police pro said he was arrested then he was.

    • Really!
      June 26, 2013

The news reads “he was arrested and charged” so he will have his day in court to defend the charges

    • June 26, 2013

Do you think the police would arrest and charge someone for a crime they did not commit? They must have evidence against the man; if it was just suspicion there would not be charge against him, LIME would simply fire him. So DNO has every right to publish this. People need to respect other people’s property and do not hang their heart where their hand cannot reach.

DNO – Please correct the headline. The gentleman was employed by Phone Tec Inc

  59. Yes Fada!
    June 26, 2013

Well, what do you expect…after making 12 credible and loyal staff redundant, LIME is reaping the fruits it have most recently sown! Yes sa, for the past three months all we’ve been hearing about LIME is non-standard, mediocre service and now this! I waiting to hear the rest, more to come……….. Mr. Country Manager,I bet you’re wishing wishing you’d made a different decision, eh?

    • SMH
      June 26, 2013

LIME has always been a reputable company delivering credible and undisputed service. Also, he is employed with PHONE TECH…NOT LIME! Do your research properly. Lock back and come back!

        June 26, 2013

Apparently you have complications reading and/or understanding….? Who are you to tell me about the company that employed and bred me? Customer service is being cried down by customers; do they lambase Phone Tech? No, they’re crucifying LIME! Tainting the company’s image…but guess what, that’s what happens when “quality” is sacrificed in the name of $$$. Yes, the staff WAS loyal, genuine and dedicated…isn’t it evident that these qualities are NOT the prime focus of the new entity? My statement made perfect sense. DNO, am I speculating or offending anyone? SMH, if u don’t know what to comment on, swallow it!

      • Yes Fada!
        June 27, 2013

Apparently you have complications in reading and/or understanding…? Whoever said LIME is not a reputable company? Whoever said he was employed by LIME? Chupes, if you do not know what u commenting on, swallow it. LIME is bringing lament and speculation onto itself because of its recent decision to release 12 genuine staff in the name of cutting costs and taking on an entity which have customers bawling on customer service. Don’t dictate to me about a company that I served diligently for years. Everything that former managers and supervisors worked hard to instill has been taken to butcher’s!!

very good for LIME. LIME send home all the long serving and genuine and trustworthy workers to outsource for half pay. in all the years, LIME formerly Cable and Wireless has been in existence that never happen. I guess “cheapness brings worriness.”
