The police have said that one man is in custody and is being questioned in connection with the killing of a bus driver in Layou.
Police PRO, Inspector John Carbon, said the man was arrested after he turned himself in to law enforcement.
The man has not been charged with any crime and is only being questioned, Inspector Carbon said.
John ‘Ferdie’ Blaize was found around 11:30 pm on Wednesday April 17, in a pool of blood at his house in Layou.
He was pronounced dead on the scene.
The police said Blaize had injuries to his head.
Anyone with information is asked to call 1-800-TIPS or 1-800-HINT.
RIP TO BLAIZE i hope justice will be done it So sad nobody need to die like that and dominica police full of shit cause à man bring his self in thats mean hé is the one
Life is precious. It is sad that Blaize lost his life. This should hurt each one of us whether we knew him or not. He is a brother who was deprived of his life.
No matter what, no one has the right to kill, i.e., members of the public. What could cause a person (or people) to commit murder, sometimes in cold blood and over a minor incident or argument? Why should they commit murder at all and for what?
Why commit murder? You deprive a man of his life. You took away his right to life and freedom. If he has children, you deprive him of his children and they are deprived of a father. You deprive him of his family and friends and vice versa.
You kill a man. You assume that you are better than him. Not so! You are the worst one since you killed him. His blood is crying to Heaven for vengeance.
For obvious reasons, the Law should never be lenient on murderers. Let them pay the full price of their atrocity, depriving another of his life when they are alive and want to live, to be free at that. They are brazen indeed!
Did he deserve to die and at the hands of another human being? Is this fair that they should be free and walking the streets after having murdered another when that person is six feet deep? We do know that once murdered no one can ever bring back the victim. The family of all is left with their grief and in some cases lack of financial support. This is what the Court must take into account when sentencing murderers. From my point of view, if there is no capital punishment, the sentencing should be for life without parole.
The man who was murdered received capital punishment for life from his murderer who served as his judge and jury. He has gone from the face of this earth forever because of the murderer. If the Court and their legal defense team would consider this, it definitely would be no parole for a murderer.
Perpetrators are usually protected and not the victims. The family of the one who is murdered is a victim. This is where justice should prevail and meted out according to the crime.
This is the first time I have heard of this, a man turned himself in, obviously to report to the police what took place and presumably who murdered Blaize. It is strange that further information is requested from those who may know something about this murder. Is he an accomplice and are there more accomplices as the primary person who committed the murder?
lord save our nation
God save our nation
them two children he have there with the short black they will miss him dearly i feel sorry for them and their mother (J). …
why dont we think before we talk
Dominica i come out!!
The Police said he has not been charged. So any information coming from anyone can be very helpful.
Also any information can lead to other things not related to this particular crime.
An investigation can lead to anyone anything anywhere annyhow anytime. So anyoneone as the Police said who may have information, please bring it forward. There is no such thing as too much information.
chupes with your statement..they are looking for more info pertaining to that particular crime not another crime so me self dot know what you talking about…he has not been charged cause probably its only his word..I can commit a crime and confess to the police however if they do not find any evidence to prove that I committed the crime then what do you think will happen? the obvious of course i wont be going to stocky for years
A man walks to the police, turning himself in, VOLUNTARILY) mind you and he is not charged? I don’t get it, I mean what are you still waiting for?
Could it be the police was looking for him and he found out so he turned himself in for questioning.
Hope justice is served
he is arrested but not being charged, only questioning.. don’t tell me the police gonna let him go because he turned himself in. what is the outcome?
Anyone can turn themselves in to the police and say they did it. The man could be mad so they have to question him first before charging him
If he is mad or that they feel he is, he should be given a psychiatric assessment. Only a senseless and mad person would turn himself in to the police and incriminate himself if he did not commit the crime. Since he did so, he must have murdered him or helped to commit the murder. He surely knows something.
Anyone can turn themselves in, if you did not do it you know who did. Why would anyone do such a thing, even if they are not in their right state of mind? I think that the person turned himself in because he knew he would eventually be captured.
when the polcie is trying to find evidence of a crime they can question anyone from which they believe valuable information can be obtained even if that person is a suspect or not, as long as that person has not been charged or informed thart he may be charged for the offence. A man can turn himself in for questioning if he has information that he is a person of interest. He will be questioned by the police and he is free to live the police station at his own free will UNLESS he is arrested either on suspicion of that crime of charged for that crime. After turning himself in for questioning the ONLY way he can be prevented from leaving when he feels that he has answered enough questions is for the police to arrest him lawfully as a suspect. I really wish that more of us would aquaint ourselevs with the justice system we make so many statements out of pure ignorance and we can do much better than that my people.
no he was not arrested, he came in, by himself, what more do they want
Bondieu, read the article before commenting! it clearly says that he was arrested and is in custody.
You know better than DNO ???
Stop being stupid….even if he came in on his own he can be arrested once the evidence is stron enough.
Definition of arrested: To restrain or deny someone from their freedom/ liberty for various reasons.
Assertive, NOT Agressive!
I feel so sorry for my cousin to have left us so soon in such a cruel manner.
Blaize people must stick together more than ever before.
Let us hold each other tightly and pray to God for strength.
I hope that this gruesome murder is solved and our people cooperate with this investigation.
Deepest sympathy to the people of layou and the very talented Blaize family islandwide.
WE will survive this crime. Everyone who heard or saw anything please bring that information to the authorities;;;any information is important and could help break open the case.
a dead man tells no tales
like you in on it too
Police statement is confusing. They have a man in custody who turned himself in for the crime; yet they are asking for people with information to call a tip line. Do they think the man who turned himself in is an imposter? please enlighten me.
At the risk of ruffling a few feathers, let me say that regardless of whether or not someone confesses to a crime, a proper investigation is still needed. Is that the case with Denny Shillingford and the alledged fire bomb? It could be a cover up; a fall guy; a conspiracy; a bold face lie to protect someone else. Proper investigations are always mandated in order to get to the truth.
OMG! The police has to build a case! If everything isn’t carefully examined, the defense will have a field day. Are you people so superficial?
Let me see if I can (enlighten you). He could have turned himself in to cover the real culprit, probably a family member or a lover.
There might be other people involved and you have to let the police do their work.
why the rush?
y don’t you go ask the police ? idiot
That doesn’t mean he did the crime. maybe is just a frame up to protect somebody( his son or daughter). So police must seek info.
Maybe they know something that WE don’t know but do not have enough evidence. And, with someone turning himself in claiming to have committed the crime may or may not be the killer.
wait a minute. let me get this straight. he turned himself in to law enforcement,he was arrested but not charged? ummmmmmm i must be missing something.
Awaiting justice for Blaize. He didnot deserve this. Missing you Blaize. May God continue to comfort his family and friends.
