Man charged for murder in death of Kent Lewis

Jolly is facing a charge of murder

A man has been charged with murder in the death of Kent Lewis of Pointe Michel.

Ron Garth Jolly appeared before a Roseau Magistrate where the charge was read to him.

Lewis died of a gunshot wound to the neck at a bar in Pointe Michel on Saturday, May 19, 2017.

Jolly did not enter a plea since the matter is an indictable one.

The matter has been adjourned for September.

Jolly is represented by Wayne Norde and Kondwani Williams.

The problem is people get into a discussion which get heated. Who knows what it could be? It could be something else.
We could think of a few reasons. Theft is one. He could have asked him for money or a drink and whatever else ensued. He immediately pulled out his gun and shot him.
Anger and a bad temper. Why would he do something as that? Why carry a gun if you are going to a place of entertainment? People go to a club as a means of enjoyment and end up being killed.
There is no excuse for killing someone. It is sad when people are deprived of their lives and by a fellow person.
May Kent rest in peace. Amen!
My sympathy to his grieving family.

I cant understand why people cant go to any place of entertainment to enjoy themselves now-a-days, if its not guns its knives. The youths are watching too much TV and they think what ever they see there is reality. In the olden days guys would have fights, after exchanging fits at each other, they would then shake each others hands, some time or the other ,they would have a drink together, so where does all these camradery gone.
DNO ! what are u all reporting, u mentioned about legal council for the accused, then stated date of adjournment, then what happened to the accused, was he released? We would like to know ,we are not expecting u to deliberate on the matter. Do enlighten me

Another young man to learn manners and to get CXCs in prison. What can be done to help these young people BEFORE they go to prison and then to try to get an upbringing there? How many young men have we lost to possible or proven violence over the last ten years?

How can society on a whole help?

No celebrations here. He will be out pretty soon if not already. And I will bet money that he will not face one day in jail for this crime. He will be set free on some legal technicality. If they could not find the keys to the Registry, do you really believe that they can successfully prosecute a murder trial? Nope.

Anthony P. Ismael are you not growing up? All I see from you is negative. You are sour grapes . Please give up what is troubling you. Look at yourself. Are you making strides… no no. Because is the same thing every morning on your mind. Kill those thoughts and get positive. Do something positive. Anger, hatred, jealousy, negative thoughts only kill your dreams. God bless you.

Rip to the man who lost his life. Hopefully justice is served and the murderer doesn’t get 5 years. He should get 25- life in prison.

There seems to be an upsurge in criminal activity in Dominica..Are the statistics on crime available ?? Do we know what has been going on in the recent past and the possible causes??

The introduction of Haitians is the MAIN cause of this. Everybody knows that Haitians breed evil entities. get rid of them and you will see the change.

Christine it’s women like you who encourage these murderers. He wasn’t feeling sorry when he was shooting the guy. You know how much hurt and pain
lewis family is going through now. May his soul rest in eternal peace.

    • he is not a murderer , it was an accident. MY sympathies to the victim and his family, but this Jolly guy here is not a person with criminal mischief. He is a quite reserved person I hear, and i believe this is the first time he has found himself in trouble. i really do feel sorry him. it is a dreadful calamity to be in. I would not want to swap places with him at all, but still I UNDERSTAND his plight.

Feeling sorry for an alleged murderer hmmm ok.

How often do we use the words, “I am sorry for you” or “I feel sorry for you”, for those who find themselves in trouble.
I think Christine is misunderstood. She is not feeling sorry for him, per se but that he murdered a man and found himself in hot water with the Law. This is what she meant. Keep in mind she said to him, get two lawyers to defend him. This means he will need some good lawyers to defend him. I am certain she knows he will not get out of this one.
