Edwards was killed on Easter Monday

Police have confirmed the shooting death of Eloi Edwards, 23, of Pointe Michel but no one has been arrested.

According to reports from Police Public Relations Officer (PRO) Acting Superintendent Claude Weekes the incident occurred in the Macoucherie area about 11:30 pm on Monday 6th, April 2015, (Easter Monday).

He stated that Edwards was transported to the Princess Margaret Hospital (PMH) where he was officially pronounced dead by a medical doctor.

A coroner’s inquest is expected to be convened followed by a post-mortem examination.

“The investigation is in its infancy stage and we can tell you that no arrests have been formally made, but the investigations continue,” Weekes said.

Edwards is well known to the police in Dominica.

On November 7, 2011 he was charged in connection with a robbery which took place at McMillan All-in-One Gas Station.

That incident occurred on October 20, 2011.

The same year he was fined for stealing a gold chain.

In January this year, he was allegedly involved in the armed robbery of a pharmacy in Guadeloupe, followed by a high speed chase.

Kmt. Some of you people are disgusting no crime is worse than the other. All padeohiles and rapist outside nobody giving their entire life history . Yes elio had his demons but don’t we all some of you play so innocent like you’ve never comitted crime like all ghetto youths who grow up with a deceased father & no mother & a female that just about turn their back on you at an early age the system does nothing for you what path do you really think one would take to eat & feed their kids? He was a father, a friend, a son. I never condoned what he did I always spoke to him but what can you do when there’s no help & no one to turn too? As I said no sin is bigger than the other none of you are god so you should not sit and judge another. May his soul rest in peace.

TO Eli boy and others, Eloi may hv done wrong. whatever he did he certainly did not deserve to die the way he did. Yes he did his crime and most times did the time. Come on if u say the “our father”, you say forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us. In order words, so as u forgive others it is in the same way you are asking the Lord to forgive you. Edward may hv been a crimal but yes indeed he had his good way. I can testify to that. He has some good family too e.g. his uncle, won’t call anyname who really did his best to help him. to his family peace be with you all. God give us the grace to go through the trials.

Yeah high risk life. If not for criminals many would be jobless. Will this earth ever see cessation of crime, and malice? Its in people’s nature. I don’t know this man, or his family, if any of you were to be reading comments, i offer my condolences. Still i’m not surprised people say the things they say. It would be unbiblical to call anyone good. But that one scene with jesus, the religious leaders and the woman caught in adultery says alot. Still my fellow men and women this is life. P.s not ISIS alone that killing. I am yet to figure out why people condone only one set.

It is never a good thing to commit murder but Dominicans come on…the young man was murdered and it was wrong! Now to bashing DNO, some of you are too hypocrite! You should of helped him change his life to be a better man in society instead he steal and cause people harm. whether DNO had published his past or not we would still know all about it. My advice, make Google your best friend, type in this guy’s full name and you will read all about him. SMH

funny thing is his “friends” used to boast about how “bad” he was and to quote someone i heard somenoe say to another “you fraid him doe”. None of you were telling him to be better, instead you all were celebrating and praising his “badness” and tell stories of his criminal acts in awe. Now that he is deceased all of you want to point out how good he was and how he is in “god’s” arms. when he was alive…why didnt you try to rescue him then, why not reproach him for this kind of behavior…when it still meant something?

We were all created by God but we are not all God’s children…
It was the very Messiah, Yeshua ( Jesus ) who told the religious scholars that, ” They are of their father the devil ‘ John 8 : 44.. And then again in John 8 : 41 ” HE told them that, “They do the deeds of their father.”
What then, is HE a liar or He dose not know what He is talking about…
Let GOD be true and every man be a liar.
At the end of life’s road on one side there is a pig pen, on the opposite side the Father’s house. Those who come to their understanding ,rise up get out of the pig pen and return to the Father, that’s the children.
Those that do the opposite and remain in the pig pen all their life. Those are with their father, for that’s where he is in the pig pen. ( The prodigal son )
Whatever we plant that will we reap…As we make our bed that’s the way sleep…
    May he rest in peace….

This is just a product of the failure in the justice system. This individual was allowed to terrorize people here and abroad. He was captured and went to court (let the records speak) but freed to become a repeat offender. When he realized he is getting away with it he continued. Unless you have been a victim of these criminals you will never understand. One of them stole three gold necklaces, one with a diamond cut pendant and two gold rings from me. I have never gotten justice. Most of us work hard to earn an income. Why should we live in fear?

To his so called friends and hommies, if you were a true friend or homie, you would have discouraged his behavior. Si e pas ni soutiweh e pas ni voleur. Let justice prevail and if it is vigilante justice, then so be it. Our judicial system sucks!

All of what you said are wise words, the victims suffer too when criminals go on a rampage. It does not take away from the fact that the young man, no water what he was, was a human being. His family, friends and people who knew him are all hurting. He may have been a troubled child, what has Dominica ever try to do to rescue troubled children. I understand he was given an opportunity to build a future, his parents sent him to secondary school, but after his education, what next; frustration may have driven him west. We have no rehabiliation centers, no psychological assessors, and he works, so let’s not condemn the young man, he is dead now and maybe he could have turned his life around, we did nothing, society did nothing, the government, as for them did nothing and they will never ever do anything to help young people. During election time they wanted the support of young people and all they did was make promises to them, and gave them sewo. Now they killing each other.

A young man has lost his life, and I fully understand why DNO would talk about the previous crimes he committed as they reported them when they first occurred, so I cint think there is no need to slam DNO that.
I knew Elio personally and I can honestly say he was respectful and loving young man. I never gave him right for all the crime he committed but at the same time people seem to forget a crime has now been committed which is his murder. For all the pople who are rejoicing let’s hope all you laundry is clean because Karma is a bitch what goes around comes around and mind how you wash your mouth on people. RIP Elio you had your faults but you were human like us all and you never deserved to die the way you did.

I don’t know about anyone else but I used to talk to him and try and steer him on the right path but I am not a miracle worker and I cannot make no one do nothing they don’t want to do.
As far as me saying he a was loving and respectful young man I stand by that as that is what he showed me to be. To other people he was a lot of other things and I’m sure they stand by how they feel about himself well, each to there own everyone is entitled to their opinion.

All these negatives not nice. When this young man was brought into this world, he was a lovely baby, nice child everyone would say, that’s a fact!none of his relatives expected him to turn out the way he did. We all do things and don’t know what is in store in the future; please watch what we say, let us not condemn him, leave it to God. Someone out there killed him and is also hiding. Why hide, if he deserved to die, come straight out and give up yourself and tell the police why this man deserved to die. Is all

Some people hate others. Did you know that this is another form of murder except it is murder from the heart? When people hate others for whatever reason, they could eventually become a physical murderer. Hating your fellow nationals, becoming their enemy is a sin, one of murder from the heart. Some people also die in that state. Consider where their souls could end up in eternity.

Brother, no more than 13% of the population of the U.S.A. is black but count for about 50% of the murder rate, the majority committed black on black but nobody seems to make much noise about that as if it’s ok for one brother to kill another. • The Facts
      April 8, 2015

Our Lord Jesus Christ told us: “Be merciful as your Heavenly Father is merciful.” There are times some people are not merciful. Then they are merciful when it suits them. God does not work like that.
Everyone has a good side and a bad side. Note how people could be nice and in a wink of an eye, they could curse you down – tell you off, etc. and even hate you, sometimes for a simple matter of no consequence. This is human nature which no one is immune from.
This is where our good, loving and patient God comes in. He will weigh out his good and his bad ways. According to God’s standards and expectation, if the good outweigh the bad, he will be saved.
God knows what made him turn to a life of crime and at such a young age. Something went wrong with him. He probably did not get the help to assist him to be a useful citizen. If D/ca has such a system, he should have been rehabilitated. This is where we must be merciful. Those who do not know that, please learn it.

  26. April 7, 2015

Hello and good afternoon my people. First I must say May this young man rest in peace if he really can based on his past. I don’t know Mr Edwards but I read about his previous criminal acts but we must acknowledge that murder is wrong therefore our Police Department should conduct a through investigation. If they find the perpetrator that person should be brought to the Courts and severely punished. Many of my people are missing the point that we are a Democratic Country which are governed by laws for which we must abide by so we can’t just look at his pass criminal behavior and say its okay for someone to murder him. We must also remember that the person who murder him is still out there and that person posed a risk to us all.

IF this young man is dead at this point in time it is his fault and the dominican law system,,,he started his criminal life in dominica, knocked out a man for his own gold chain, armed robbery in a gas station….as far as the armed robbery is concerned he should be imprisoned for about 20-30 years ,,because he could have killed someone during that robbery…mr.skerrit i am appealing for your help …change the laws ,we need serious laws to suit the crimes ,and if the police can fire a real bullet to kill these type of criminals dominica will surely be a better place…

        April 8, 2015

Blaming his parents, poor parent. HIS PARENT DID ALOT FOR HIM, tried giving him a foundation from toddler to secondary education. Its after that point he fell through a crack. He was just a ten year old kindergatten when Skerrit went into government, and a mere thirteen year old when Skerrit became Leader. He was a mere child, and his parents were probably struggling to provide for him. Lots of children especially boys get disappointed to see how their parents struggle with them and when their opportunity come o help make thing better for their parent, they can’t. Frustrations drive young men, they find all sorts of negative escapes. The avenues for them are limited. Things got from bad to worse over the last fifteen years, young men, yes young men fell on the wayside under this administration and it will continue like this for young men if something does not rescue Dominica. So yes Skerrit has alot to blame for young men’s situations in this country. Let him take the blame

NO!!! NONSENSE COMING FROM YOU! This has absolutely nothing to do with the PM! This man was 23 years of age. He began his life of crime at a young age.
Cease blaming the PM for everything. Your comments are idle and wicked which you will pay for one day. God will punish you for that and judging him for what he is not responsible for.
You must first take a look at this young man’s upbringing and how and when he went wrong.

    • April 8, 2015

I respect people’s views but i have the right to disagree to someone’s views….skerrit is not failing any youth at all, each and every ones of us except the handicaps ,little children and the mentally ill ;know very well the diffence between good and bad..the law is passing a sponge on serious criminals , seeing that they start back as soon as possible..putting people’s lives in danger ,,are they waiting to see a member of their family killed by a criminal they allowed to walk out from the court house after committing serious crimes with weapons included,,i do believe honestly that the politicians will put their feet down when they will feel that they and their family are in danger or after they have been killed…skerrit is the head of state he is the only one for the moment who can decide or the population must demonstrate to make the gov’t put in new laws to suit the crimes….

How many of you pray for your country, nationals, politicians in general and yourselves? Many talk/write but how much praying do you do and also to ask God to assist the youths and make them good, responsible nationals including eradicating crimes of every nature in Dominica. This is an obligation first to God and then to others. This is loving God and loving one another as yourselves.
Youths are going astray; some have already gone down that path and not enough people are assisting them. Some turn a blind eye and a deaf ear.
They do not receive the assistance they should get, commencing in the home. Neighbors are also responsible. Society in general is responsible. God knows who they are. One day He will hold all those responsible for this.
If you do not know them and cannot help in some other manner, you could do so by your prayers. It is also an act of generosity. God hears them and will do with them as He pleases. Leave it up to Our Lord Jesus Christ.

As the saying, “The spirit is willing but the flesh is weak.” God knows if he had that feeling. If he did, rest assured that God was merciful to him.
Some of you do not want to hear the Word of God and criticize others if they make statements about God. I am not stating this without reason. God knows the young man’s heart and He is The One to judge him; not mortals as you; sinners as well.
God loves you no more than He did that young man in his life. You are in no position to judge him. He was a young man which is why you should be ever merciful. In fact, by judging him, those who do, sin against God. Keep this in mind.

It’s SAD to see so many people wanting this man’s history cover or not said. THIS is way our country cannot prosper. With people like this NOT holding the wrong doers accountable for their actions. Politictions will sell our country under our nose, but because they “promise” a tablet that never came their actions are OK.

This young man terrorized people’s lives at GUN POINT, arrested and continued…Dominicans are hated in the french countries because of people like him.
The people who knew him, why havent you’ll changed his life? What you’ll waiting for, him to have killed someone???

Get real and see this situation for what it is. Dont go wanting this man painted as a saint when he’s clearly a criminal.

Everyday I see more and more why Dominica is the way it is. Politicians do wrong, we are too politically affiliate to condemn it, Medical people do wrong, we can’t point it out because we are too emotionally involved. Now a gangster who has terrorized people both in Dominica and Guadeloupe was killed, mind you I am not condoning murder, and we want to canonize him and bash DNO. I read news from around the world and anything which happens to someone, good or bad, a history of the individual is given. No one is to blame that he made his record bad. Mr Raffoul died and his good works were highlighted.

    April 7, 2015

It is easy to sit here and say he deserve it because of his record. For those of us who do it is not right. When a young man loose his life like this we as a society are to be blamed. As a Christian society and fresh from celebrating easter, we should ask this questions. Am I my brothers keeper? What have I done to help be role model to our young men? What have I done to help our young folks stay clear from the path of destruction? I am also guilty of thinking he deserve what he got, but it is not right and every life is valuable. The sooner we accept our justice system and our society is messed up the sooner we can amend. I say God alone judges and I hope you had a chance to ask him forgiveness for your sins. You may have choozen the light for your crimes but many of us love the darkness. May your soul RIP.

Padna, I don’t know about you, but when I do something wrong, I don’t look to blame society for my bad behaviour. Instead, I look in the mirror to see the culprit.

So don’t come here with that nonsense about society is to blame for someone who decided to terrorise people. You cannot tell me with a straight face that he did not appreciate what he was doing.

The man made his bed, let him lay in it.

    • omg
      April 7, 2015

It is funny you should ask “AM I my brother’s keeper” because if you truly were, then while he was alive you would have tried to intervene. Not when he is dead. They say give me my flowers while I am alive than dead. The same saying goes for character. Let them know of their ways and guide them while alive. Hence, when he was being a criminal where were all the “keepers?” The whole community sat around did nothing. Now he is dead, you people want to blame DNO for saying it as it is?
DNO have their moments…but when someone lived an honorable life, they speak of it. So why can’t they speak when people are far from such?

      • Shaka zulu
        April 7, 2015

Omg let me clarify; I have no problem with DNO saying the individual has a criminal past. I am not too religious but deliberately post that perspective to see our response. Dominicans like to call God but we are far from Christianity. We are a failing society when we justify someone getting killed because he has a criminal past. What he did was not right but whoever killed him is also a murderer. The justice system is a failure, the religious in Dominica is a failure and it is bad. Yes I believe he should have been locked up, however we all cannot be judge and jury and executioner. No one has the right to take anybody’s life unless its defense of self, property, and family. By the comments here we are no different from ISIS. A set of sick people to be celebrating anyone’s demise. Everyone should carry a gun and take matters in their own hands. I will say again Dominica is a messed up place with some messed up people.

Please – if he was a good guy his history would speak for itself. April 7, 2015

Good Day DNO and its viewers, we have to be tolerant of each other views…The oda day a young lady was charges for stealing monies on a Co worker ATM card and we said so many hurtful things,we have to be fair…I personally believe that we are lacking security in most of jams ,fete etc.Organisers pay person to provide security ffor begin to start time ,but some security personnel take the organisers money and forget they are being paid to protect person from start to finish. So what if persons come in by boat ,when our young men are on the water enforcers of the law chase them in all quwie so why not place security on the water also. Land Alone cant do it .Its my opinion that this place has to be lighted properly how can you have a big time activity like this and have only half of the venue lighted…..Patrions are paying their hard earned monies to come and enjoy themselves after their hard work so Organisers why not PUT OUR SAFETY FIRSTS. My Condolences to everyone

    • JoJo
      April 7, 2015

My advice, don’t go to such activities at such venues, I certainly will not. The organizers, the bands, the vendors are only interested in your money and maximizing profits. Don’t blame them for that but I have a choice and that is not worth my peace of mind.

    April 7, 2015

Funny isn’t? Or is it? People do not seem to be concerned of the person who committed the murder, so far from what I have been reading. What does that tell you about us?

He had a mother and father; he could also have been a father, brother, relative and friend to many, or a significant other to someone. To them my deepest sympathy.

Somebody must have thought he was the best person alive at one time. That too God will look at.

God will now judge him, Not you or I. May his soul rest in peace.

smh. so much contradiction. armed robery. theft amongst others. one person said “he had his ways but he had a good heart”. a good heart that lead him to commit those crimes. putting innocent people trying to make a living at risk..but he had a good heart. smh.

anyways i’m waiting to hear the cause that lead to his murder. was he an ‘innocent’ by-stander? was it mistaken identity? or was it a revengeful killing?

i feel sorry for his daughter who has to grow up without a father. and i hope this killing ignite something in the other young people who lead a life of petty crime instead of growing up and being responsible for the people in their lives. as to how an armed person enters a venue with heavy security – i dont know. that was gross incompetence on their part. i still say RIP to the young man and condolences to his family and friends. no matter what life he lead its clear alot of people cared for him.

I do not understand why people would even feel sympathy for these types of people.

When you display anti-social attitudes and you live a high risk lifestyle, these things happen. This is not rocket science.

There are people working hard every single day trying to make ends meet and these types of people feel they can walk around as if they own the world and they are the kings of the castle. Well, one day you are going to meet your match.

As I said, we are much better off without these types walking among us.
