To both families I’d like to share my condolences, may you experience healing and closure in the days to come.it’s sad that both families have to lose a member in such senseless act. Which could have easily been avoided. I see many people pointing fingers, that will not get use no where, we all need to look inwardly and find a fault in our actions and thoughts that could possibly encourage another to do good or evil.old saying:it take a village to raise a child. Some might say that it’s no longer that way but it still is , so let’s help our brothers let be a part of each other’s life, everyone has his part to play in this, mother father brother sister…. Don’t stand idle , but be steadfast in the proper upbringing of your neighbor, religious persons, don’t be praying only. But go and socialize, persons of great respect, leaders in society,Take part in the young people’s lives. Build a proper community, governments need to do something with all the resources that God has…

Can Dominicans tell us who they blame especially those living in the US and elsewhere, for the two horrible deadly fires in the US in less than a week?

Who do they blame for the two school bus crashes and especially the one with so many dead students? Who is to blamed for the multitude of vehicle crashes and the number of daily murders in the various States?

Who do they blame for plane crashes and trains disasters? Whom do they blame for the bad weather and all those floods?

Just wondering. because we all should stop and take stock of what is happening around the world; and when we think hard and long answer those simple questions and then why do we blame our PM and Government for every bad thing that happen.

I am not telling anyone not to disagree or question our government but there is a time. The family needs our sympathy, blaming the government is making light of a real family tragedy.

RIP; Sympathy to the family and to the brother a full recovery.

Many people on the nature island do not think Dominica needs a self defence school.

What Dominicans (and Canadians) need is a personal encounter with the risen Christ. When they realize they are lost sinners and understand that on the cross Christ died for their sins they will be well on their way. They must believe it was for them the Savior died. God raised Him from the dead on the third day to show He had accepted that sacrifice as payment in full for their Salvation. When they receive Him as their personal Savior they will be “born again” into a new life!

    Please read:

    Isaiah 53:5,6
    Romans 5: 6-8
    St. John 3:3
    St. John 3:16
    Ephesians 2:8,9
    1 John 5:11-13

By receiving Christ, trusting what HE did for you on the cross to blot out your sins and take your guilt away, you will HAVE eternal life. Yes, HAVE it NOW as a PRESENT possession :!

    Self defence? Read Ephesians 6:10-17

    Sincerely, Rev. Donald Hill

What they need is rules, respect and manners at the home, if a person don’t respect the house; he or she is no longer a child, they should move out. Fling plates at children it could hit they at the wrong place and seriously hurt them. Telling a five year old, you born with two balls so you are a man.Learn the basics from home. Go to church or pastors services and listen to the words of the Christ. So if you cannot put they right at home, when they get to the public The Law takes over and what a waste at young ages. The parents are to blamed

A bad temper and unable to control it is the cause of this. Over what did he commit this murder and attempted murder? Now he is incarcerated. In a few seconds he could lose all he has. His defense attorney will ask for his pardon while his victim died and brother is injured.
When people get angry and impatient for whatever reason, they must say, “God, grant me patience and help me.” It works!
He murdered a young man and his brother is in the hospital, suffering from injuries. Is it worth whatever aggravation he felt?
My sincere sympathy to the family of the departed. May his soul rest in peace. Amen!
To his injured brother, may he be healed in time.
To Dominica’s Justice System, let justice be meted out. This man must pay for the crimes he committed, one of which is murder and injury to another. It must be considered the grief he is causing their relatives. Money cannot console the grieving family, heal their pain and erase what is done to all of them.

I think the government of Dominica should take some time when these horrible things happening in Dominica to go on dno and see the people cry or if they don’t have time ,create a portfolio for someone to monitor the people he represents how they are crying. He always creating one anyway, what is one more?

Hello and good evening my people. First I must offer my condolence to this young man family and may he Rest In Peace. We can’t blame the Government for peoples bad behavior or the police for not being there to prevent this murder rather we must hold the criminal responsible for this crime. There are a small number of criminals in Dominica who seems to be terrorizing our citizens and defense attorneys who keep getting those people release. The police and prosecutors must do a better job in investigating and submitting their cases to the courts. My suggestion is that we need a law to state that anyone who’s arrested for a non fatal shooting, Rape or Murder must stand trial infront of a Judge instead of a jury. In that way the defense attorney will not be able to fool the Judge. Rest In Peace young man.

Saw a news item recently where Italy is advertising for exorcists.Dominica needs to twin with Italy on this move so it can benefit and have something done to bring back the days of love thy neighbour and peace

    • December 3, 2016

      @jonathan st jean December 2, 2016

An exorcism is not a work of man, himself, only God can do this work by the Power of His Holy Spirit–it is not like hiring someone who is qualified to do a particular job–but Holy Spirit does that work through a certain person whom He has chosen.

So if Italy is advertising for exorcists, they don’t know what they are doing, because in today’s days the devil has possessed everyone who will follow him; and there is much too many of us who has accepted that fellowship. The Devil cannot remove his own self from those whom he has possessed.

      • December 3, 2016

Here is what the Bible says about people claiming to have power in the name of God, when of course they do not know what they are doing and saying, the story is at Acts 19: 13-16

“Then some of the itinerant Jewish exorcists took it upon themselves to call the name of the Lord Jesus over those who had evil spirits, saying, “We exorcise you by the Jesus whom Paul preaches.” — And the evil spirit answered and said, “Jesus I know, and Paul I know; but who are you?” Then the man in whom the evil spirit was leaped on them, overpowered[b] them, and prevailed against them, so that they fled out of that house naked and wounded”

But I agree with you! Dominica needs a spiritual cleansing of the people’s mind; there is much too many unhuman, wickedness, and maybe downright evil, being practiced among us. We need much prayer and fasting, as we call to God for His mercy and compassion to deliver us from that SATANIC spell which has overwhelmed our minds.

    • December 3, 2016

A man does not make himself an exorcist. First he must be saved and filled with the Holy Spirit. Then God calls him to the ministry if indeed that is God’s will for his life.

Exorcism is only one part of the larger New Testament ministry which is to preach the gospel as it is defined in 1 Corinthians 15:1-4 and Romans 1:16 to bring men and women to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ so they will KNOW they are saved and going to heaven. Their responsibilities include ministering the Word of God to Christians to promote growth and fruitfulness.

True excorcists are not free lancers. They are accountable to the leadership of the church that has approved their ministries and sent them forth. Their services are usually conducted in churches.

      Sincerely, Rev. Donald Hil.

    So what’s the plan?
    Does anybody have one?
How are we going to stop all these senseless killings?
    It’s already almost too late.
    Are you going to wait…
Until it happens to someone close to you?
    What can the police do?
They can’t be everywhere at the same time.
And our church leaders cannot just be there trying to “pray away” our crimes
We have to reach out to our youths
Our young boys and our young men
What are we going to do? What CAN we do for them?
I’m appealing to all the fathers to do all that you can for your sons.
Grow them right. Teach them the right.
Let’s do all that we can to save this generation.

An Act of Love: O My God I love Thee with my whole heart, above all things because you are infinitely good and for your sake, I love my neighbor as myself for the love of Thee.

If every one would pray this prayer and practice it, their country will be a better place, free of crimes/murders. All nationals will be better people.
It is not only talk but prayer and godly practice. This is how the mortal and spiritual battles are won, with the help of God that this evil will be eradicated from society. It takes many prayers, kind people, patience and perseverance,. How else can this change be effected?

    • The Truth Be Told
      December 2, 2016

Do you need to be informed every country has its share of crimes? Those countries were practically as safe as D/ca was in those days. What happened, some people have not been practicing the faith and associate with bad company.
The home environment may not have been what it should be. As they grow up they develop their individual mannerisms.
When arguments and problems surface, they must learn to be as amicable as they possibly could. If arguments ensue, learn to walk away from it. Do not call anyone bad names which will antagonize them.
It takes diplomacy to get alone with others, especially when people are cantankerous. It is not easy. However, they should really avoid a quarrel. It takes discipline to do this. Some people love to perpetuate an argument and a fight. They must also learn to say they are sorry, hopefully the other person will accept it without getting ignorant and retaliating. This and more should also be taught to the youths.

The rate of violent crime in small community like Dominica is outrageous. Especially given what the rate of these crimes used to be just a few decades ago. Certainly something dramatically has changed in our social values and our level of callousness. And yes, social psychology shows that the values modeled by a country leadership has a profound effect on the youth of that country. Research it. It is a sad, sad state of affairs in my island.

Frustration due to poverty is taking a huge tole on Dominicans due to poverty…the present gov’t is securing their position only with one thing in mind;their pockets.More police are recruited but the level of crime is much higher than ever before.corruption is at its highest level,Dominica does not have any growth at all but the loans that are borrowed from foreign countries are not used to open factories when we have a lot of natural products wasting. The first PM to travel all over the world is Skerrit ,Dominica has serious problems to solve such as making sure that people keep their shoes on after they are dressed to cross are river,Roseau needs cleans daily due to the large number of vagrants that are using the streets as toilet,Tourists need shops with something special to buy when they come, there is nothing special except sun, rain, sea and forest..occupied the young people ,open school for adults ,it is never too late to learn.

    • The Truth Be Told
      December 2, 2016

Personal frustration caused this. They are devoid of God’s blessing, graces and peace. One cannot be happy and peaceful without God.. Unless some people are aware of that, this is what their life will come to, devoid of God. They will go from bad to worst.
If I were a troublemaker, I would get myself in all sorts of trouble. If so, should I blame the government? People must blame themselves for what they have become.
I always say, we must look at their background, how well nurtured or not they were. If they were nurtured appropriately, what occurred to them along the way? Did they at least attend elementary school and complete it? What type of children/students and later adults they are?
The problem with some is (can;t blame every D/can who are not one and the same), some put the blame on everyone else but themselves. I visualize this is what is wrong with some, why today they are what they are.
Those who see the ill in society, try to do something about it.

  31. My two cents
    December 2, 2016

Dr. Francis Severin spoke about the level of crime in Dominica years ago and was severely criticized by many people, including members of Parliament who tore him to pieces in the house of assembly where he could not defend his statement. He was not even invited by the powers that be to give direction/insight into this phenomenon.

Over the past several years crime has escalated and we seem to be at a total loss as to how to deal with the matter. People who can give advice are not being consulted and the inept government keeps putting square pegs in round holes.

The educated ones among us remain silent, only a few, very few, are brave enough to voice their opinion and are often ostracized.

Who the cap fits let them wear it. The ‘chickens’ have indeed come home to roost.

    • The Truth Be Told
      December 2, 2016

He is correct. I recall Francis as an extremely nice person (still is of course :) ) who was well brought up by his discipline parents. I am well-acquainted with his family. I have nothing but praise for him. The youths especially should emulate him. I expect he would speak against crimes in D/ca as many of us do.
Good people are not appreciated. This is why some keep silent. They fear being ridiculed, chastised and ignored. It happens on this Website.
God gave every one of us a gift/talent. Those who do not stand up, I can only hope they are doing something else as fervently praying for Dominica, for the youths and eradication of crimes/murders. We will all be answerable to God for what we have done and failed to do, one way or the other..

  32. December 2, 2016

What have become to us Dominicans? When i was growing up in DA before i left to join my parents abroad I never heard such things as people killiing each other that is what other nations were doing but now it seems that theses young generations are following other countries life style and this is not goo if it’s too much televison or trying to be like the other countries this will not be good to DA people who want to come down to retire in DA they will be fearful to do so some of the changes amoung our young generations are not good examples they should try to do better not going around killing . This have me thinking about coming back home to my home. I love my island but what I am reading from DNO is not good. There should be other ways to resolve arguments. Please prople let our island be safe and a pleasure island for evetyone without all that bad news. Peace and god bless DA.
