Man tells court marijuana made him “reach in the psycho”

Chester Vidal of Boyd’s Avenue will have to find EC$500.00 to pay the court by June 30, 2012 or serve one month in jail.

Vidal pleaded guilty to a charge of possession of cannabis before magistrate Candia Carette George.

The court heard from police prosecutor Inspector Claude Weekes, that on May 24, 2012 at about 9:45am, the police dressed in plain clothes were on patrol in Virgin Lane and on arrival they encountered some young men and also took a “strong smell of marijuana weed.”

Inspector Weekes told the court that Vidal was seen dropping a “white paper and tried to cover it with his feet.”

He was approached by the police and asked what he had thrown and he replied, “a joint that there, give me a break.”

“They are sitting in the area smoking openly with no respect for the school and the law, they are challenging the police,” Weekes told the court.

However, Vidal in his defense stated that he was not smoking in the open.

“I was not running any business and was not in the open, is a small joint I had so have mercy on me I am sorry,” he told the court.

He said that he will work to pay the fine.

“I already reach in the psycho (meaning the psychiatric unit) for that and I have to go to rehab,” he said.

Before imposing the fine, Magistrate Carette-George asked Vidal to take control of his life and the friends that he follows because he may soon end up in prison.

“Be smart, stay away from drugs, have the will power to stay away or it will send you to jail and spoil your life forever, go to church, behave yourself and change your friends,” she advised.

Meanwhile Boniface Burton from Concord who was arrested for stealing 19 pounds of yam was told that he would have to get a proper surety before bail can be granted to him.

He pleaded not guilty to the charge and is now on remand.

Well he should not because weed did not cause the insanity. He may be smoking weed, but that’s not the only drug in his joints.

And how come in the 70’when people smoked pure marijuana there were no paros or such psyco cases? Well today they mix it with coke, crack and call it spranger….boom, psyco. They cannot even smoke it without tobacco. Then they, the authorities blame it on marijuana. Like anything else that is abused such as alcohol (totally legal), and marijuana there will be casualties, key word abused.

Current authorities are misguided and prejudiced against marijuana, wasting time and resources that should be used to curtail their cash-cow cocaine, that’s causing havoc on young men and women in Dominica.
    Free marijuana now!

Man Chester’s case is a sad one. Talented football player but always had passion for street life. Followed the wrong crow in newtown and got addicted to the poison. I really pray that he can overcome his demons and get his life together. His mother’s only boy and I know that it grieves her to see him in such a state.

He was admitted to the psychiatric ward for taking marijuana and he has not changed. The magistrate is correct. Great counseling. Change your friends, go to Church and stay away from drugs. Bad company corrupts. Time flies and time waits for no one. They are wasting their God-given precious allotted time.
The problem with those people is they do not pray and as they should. It is as if they were never taught how to pray or they deviated from godly teaching. Some do not know how to pray and when they go to church it is for the sake of going to church. This is as far as it is with them. Then they cease going. They need to become fervent in the faith and pray sincerely to God with a humble and contrite heart. He needs godly counseling and teaching. Give him a Holy Bible. If he is a Christian Catholic, give him the Rosary which contains the Life and Mysteries of Our Lord Jesus Christ. If he does not know how to pray it and also to read the Holy Bible, teach him how to do so.

So many young men doing nonsense like that and thinking they macho. throwing away their life and when people talk to them they wanna insult them and even want to fight with them and when they get caught and reach the court they crying sorry…who doh want to hear will feel…There are consequences to every action ..so if u wanna do the action…prepare for the consequences and doh come crying sorry. People make mistakes yes but some of those young marijuana smoking donkeys are just out of hand and they don’t take and don’t want good advice.
