One of the men charged with the March 9 robbery of the Marigot Credit Union has once again been denied bail.
Princeton George has been on remand at the state prison, and appeared before Magistrate Ossie Lewis on Tuesday morning.
George’s lawyer, Wayne Norde, alleged that his client was being punished before being tried, and reminded the court that the defendant’s offence was a bailable one.
The magistrate however denied his plea on the grounds that neither the money stolen or the ammunition used during the execution of the offence had been recovered by the police.
He also reminded Norde that the defendant was being kept on remand to ensure the security of the populace.
George is being tried along with three other suspects: Jamie Andrew, Michel Azille and Mitchel Joseph.
The trial is set to begin on 13 June, (2012) at Marigot.
Also denied bail on Tuesday, was Desmond Phillip, who was arrested in connection with the alleged kidnapping of Leon “Dopie” Joseph and Deon Hakim Alfred.
The 57 year old pensioner appeared before Magistrate Ossie Lewis.
He told the magistrate “I am being held in prison innocently I do not know anything about those boys.”
Phillip made the comment after being told that bail was closed to him.
Police inspector Michael Laudat told the court that releasing the accused may pervert the course of justice, since the whereabouts of the victims were still unknown.
The alleged kidnapping took place on March 10 (2012).
Four other individuals have already been charged with “unlawfully and forcefully kidnapping” the two.
The four are: Jan Bedminster, Kimon Beaupierre, Dilon Alexander and Shirley Allan.

Bail denied! denied! denied! That`s good keep them where they belong if investigations are still ongoing. We will call for a bail act till they enact one. Can any one argue once we capture those few bad eggs and put them away crime decreases right away. To be fair they are entitled to have their Lawyers and seek bail but for the greater safety of the majority law abiding citizens and likely witness keep them in Stock Farm. What`s taking so long to enact the bail act??? I hope is not because some persons think it might affect them down the road, I have a funny feeling about that.
Philip at your age, you should be more responsible than that and keep far from these things. Who are you protecting? No one is keeping you inside besides yourself, speak to defend your innocent.
God is good Des. He will see you through. Son is fine
NO BAIL FOR A THIEF …BAIL FOR A MURDERER ….THIS IS DOMINICA …NONE THE LESS I DO NOT CONDONE THEFT..

Wow, now we are starting to get there. Get tougher on them please. The masses had enough with this entire crime spire. Good job officers (police and judicial). Go get em, give them everything you have, the Dominican law abiding citizens are standing firm with you.
