No more chances for Shane Edwards

Shane Edwards has been sentenced to 3 months in prison for malicious damage.

According to the facts of the case presented by Prosecutor Claude Weekes, Edwards caused damaged to 7 glass louvers and 16 cement blocks belonging to his cousin Curtis Bell of Cottage.

The defendant was allegedly found inside the house of the complainant with bruises and scratches.

While being arrested he told the police “officer that unfair, them fellas was trying to beat me.”

When asked what he would like to say before he was sentenced Edwards explained “they were attacking me with blocks and thing so I bust the window to dive inside the house for cover.”

Magistrate Candia George informed the defendant that she was not going to give him any more chances because it appeared that he “enjoyed going to Stock Farm”.

In another case, Magistrate George fined Bath Road man Michael John $500 for possession of cannabis.

John pleaded guilty to the charge Tuesday morning.

The drug was recovered from his home by officers while executing a search warrant there.

The defendant however requested that the court allow the weed to be weighed without the plastic bag in which it was packaged since the plastic “gives it a higher quantity.”

The magistrate ignored his request and warned the first time offender about returning to court.

Also given a warning was Erick Laronde of Upper Kingshill when he appeared before Magistrate George for the same offence moments later.

Who paid for the damage and louvers? The insurance company? Those few months are not enough. Do they not learn a lesson? So many of them need the blessing and grace of God to live a law-abiding life. They are a menace to society.

Do you know the specific situation. Could you see inside the man’s mind to know said truths? Your resolve lacks absolution; therefore don’t judge.

        @ Distured

Did you mean ‘Disturbed?’ It is quite visible to me. It takes two to tangle. Do not take sides but be fair. People must learn to live in peace and to control their temper without which they could get into trouble, end up in prison, injured and even murdered. Some of them are incapable of genuinely loving and living in peace and harmony. They have not learned to either turn the other cheek or to walk away. They are chronic troublemakers. Some members of society need to be transformed. Only God can help them. Since you are defending him, probably as a family or friend, teach him to be loving, kind and gentle. Pray for him too.

We can laugh at something stated. You made me laugh. Whenever I purchase certain items in bags and they have to be weighed, I often think that the bags or plastic covering will make them weigh more.

You would like to see decriminalization. Should this occur, Dominica would be in a worst criminal situation. God help Dominica and Dominicans should this occur. It is obvious you are not concerned about their health and welfare.

Agreed. It would save the country time and money. However legalization of this “drug” is a different thing. We would require it to be done world wide before it can be considered on our small island. Or else we may be over run by mafias, gangs (real ones) and any other forms of crime syndicates, whose names i will not mention.

i dont understand why you would put this drug case in this headline!

    • June 12, 2012

Much respect to you ,but you seems to get fired up when the question of illegal drugs and the punishment of persons using the said drugs. I suspect where ever you`re living be it in the U.S,A or some hole out there, I respectfully suggest that you should get arrested and then further your crusade against such practices by Law enforcement all over the World. Some of the world biggest dictators while in hiding they were encouraging their army to fight to their death. As I see it a true leader should always lead from the front. Do you agree??? hope not! now sound off, while i enjoy a Broadway show in Manhattan.
