Pointe Michel man accused of fighting with cop facing four charges

Peter Toussaint of Point Michel was hit with four charges after allegedly beating an officer and resisting police arrest on July 6, 2010 in Roseau.

Toussaint, who appeared before Magistrate Tiyani Behanzin last week, pleaded not guilty to battery on Constable L Charles, resisting arrest and causing malicious damage to the front fender of a bus belonging to John Irvin McIntyre. The cost of the damage was $775.

Toussaint pleaded guilty to carrying an offensive weapon-a stone-and was station bailed by his brother.

The trial of his matter was adjourned until September 17, 2010. Toussaint was ordered to report to the Point Michel police station once a week as a condition of his bail.

    Wrong is wrong and that young man had no right beating up a Police Officer. On another note if that beating did take place in g/bay then it would have been a pay back beating…lol. but for real though, we need to have more respect for our law enforcement officers. There are some that take their jobs very seriously by up holding the law and making sure that the community is safe. As a people we need to stand together with the law enforcement officers to weed off the criminals and keep our country safe.

    @only,
    We are all brothers even though not blood related. That’s why we do not know how to treat each other because we see each others as enemies. When we begin to treat each other as brothers and sisters then we will have less jealousy, crime and violence in our communities.
    We must learn to appreciate each other as human beings and not as enemies. God created us all equal but we have allowed ourselves to cause division and hatred in our midst thinking thay one is better than the other.

    But as the saying goes…every dog has his day.
    Remember that… police from Loubiere, he used to beat and beat and beat, when he went to one of the virgin islands, he got a good beating..could be from someone he beat up, i do not know,,,,,,so officers, do your duty as officers and do not use your post to ill treat others.

    You hearing all kinds of charges being brought against civilians when the beat police,,,,,,but we can never hear of any charges against police when they beat civilians.

    I think it’s a two way street and all these matters ought to be dealt with accordingly.

    One way or the other,,,,tings go shape the right way.

    Honey man, Amen and amen to that. We need more people to take a stand like you did, only then we will have a more civilized contry-too many people anti police. I know some of them are not perfect, but still when duty calls they have to perform their duties……….

    My brother is totally wrong to beat a police officer i know there are police haters and they`re stupid to think they can over come the law but as my brother will learn no matter what one cannot fight with the law and he is wrong and i cannot condone his behaviour. I hope those like my brother out there preaching violence against the law men will have the guts to come out and condemn my brother`s action. { I know it wil not happen} instead some of them will call me stupid for siding with the police and say all kinds of things to justify their point. My brother is lucky to get away with all his teeth in tack. He damage some one property and still fighting with the ploiceman who has the right to carry out his duty. Fellow Dominicans lets all try to keep the image of our country in tact. without the police we would not have peace in our country.

    To many cases of civilians beating police officers.Our police officers are to FEB.They need to be tested for malnutrition before joining the force,and even after being enstated as officers periodic FEBLESS tests should be carried out to test their viability as officers.
    But honestly i don’t like to hear that at all..THE MAN SHOULD BE DEALT WITH.
