UPDATE: Police charge two in cocaine bust; bail denied

Clevo Gabriel (left), Jones St. Jean

The police have charged two men in connection with a major drug bust off the coast of Roseau last Thursday.

The two were denied bail when they appeared in court on Monday.

The men have been identified as Jones “Jeff” St. Jean of Portsmouth and Clevo Gabriel of Highland, Grand Bay.

They were charged with possession of cocaine, possession of cocaine with intent to supply, importation of cocaine and conspiracy to import cocaine.

They were arrested during a police operation which netted some 100,000 grams of the drug in an open keel boat off Roseau at 10:30 pm on Thursday.

Clevo was also charged for failing to stop the boat when ordered too.

The boat, named “Just In Time”, was powered by two 200 HP engines.

The court was  told the cocaine is worth EC $ 2.6-million.

The two are expected back in court on December 10 for preliminary inquiry.

If we all realize its really a big and quick money, yes we will bling bling for yrs but the big question is when will it all end.it will never last forever and when it happen we often say is bad they do us but we never see the bad we did to people children.fast money aint good.i love working hard and its even better to see the benefits of working hard. All who support the actions of those who fall i guess they’re benefiting also.time will tell..

Stop acting like he is a murderer. from what i know he not yet kill people. everybody that wishing bad will not see it fall on him. what don’t kill you cle will make you stronger. yes what you are doing is wrong…..but its not only you. there are much more bigger fish to fry. today is your turn but you will get over it just like all the others did. i say that is a way of survival…….once again it is not right but so as prostitution but some still doing it. you people must realized that we met the world like. is today all you want to talk about them people house, rentals, parties……such thing don’t hurt my head. have ever occuredto you people that besides drugs Clevos’ family are hard working people. from since i k now myself his family has been one of the top farmers in the country….providing large quantities of provisions and all. stop trying to bury a brother. all them people that praising those police there ask them police how many of them build ther houses an buy there cars. its because they are crooked…they in the drugs more than them boys. Cle god at your side and he never gives what you cannot handle….the iron use to be hot now its cold now. just pray that you get through this……you are a young man and you still have a long life ahead of you…….GOD is your rock…..yes he is!

who are you too tell me that i cannot talk about GOD! oh yes i can. as i said i am not saying that it is the right thing but if god can have compassion on us who are we to not have it for others. so are you saying that if you had a child doing drugs……would you be happy if they lock him up and throw away the keys or would you go to god in prayer and ask for him to change. all i am saying is that the family has a lot to deal with so leave them alone ok. i know thats its wrong wrong wrong.

Well look it.. as they say all good things weather you work hard for it or u take the short-cut must come to an end. So what Ms.Cals going to do now. The store going to colay..they dow have no hook up with customs no more because is those same custome hookups that tell on them and even escorting police to de girl mother home. Lord hear our prays..

So whats the next move for Cals Dominicans asking well she may aboard DA to a new life else where. Papa lord clevo is one of those taskforce people that sell you out because they were looking at them. Trust and believe don’t be fool by those task force and ministers and all those governing enteries in Dominica cause the are the King pin in the business and Clevo and them are just the middle man doing there dirty deed. Nuff said.

Woosh……look fings eh……am not condoning what Clevo did….even worse he is my friend and I made it none of my business what occupation he held for it was not accepting wat he did nor was it judging him, it was simply not my business. It’s not surprising how some of the comments are geared towards his girl, or parties or rentals….cuz for dominicans u have to be @ their level..any level of growth whether hard work, heritage or drugs, it hurts them to the core that someone is living it up! Why can’t we just wish someone well n get on with our lives? He was wrong he was wrong he was wrong! He didn’t know then, he knows now…..okkk so wish him well n move on! We have to bing parents, girlfriends, friends, watever the heck else, cowardly behind a computer to have a sense of wat? Gloat? Y’all need to quit with the hate and encourage another to change….

Clevo ur my dude, n that talk was long over due….however in life we live n we learn n we dust ourselves up n we move on….n the ppl talkin smak bout his girl….in wat way is his personal life, how he spends his money affects u? Grudge full, jealous, envious…of don’t like ugly! Point @ omone, u got 3 fingers pointing back! #justintime

Whey papa bondieur they wanted to flood dominica at the beginning of the school year man. well i glad they get busted but it is unfortunate since i know the portsmouth fella and wondering who he was trafficking that cocaine for. i do not know the grandbay fella but i hear both of them have fisherman license.

But i not surprise with the possie dude, they should be interogated and made to talk, the public would be surprised to know for who they trafficking all that cocain, but honestly not all of them… but he making his hard working mother and brother feel bad man… aye, aye…

Good job officers of the law. Finally I see them dans falling one by one. Their 99 days of glory have ran out. Since the marine unit was cleaned out of suspicious officers the drug busts start coming. Now for the new chief to launch an internal investigation and start cleaning house. I am 100000000000000000% sure someone working at the largest police station between Mahaut and Salisbury will get nailed. The vehicle assigned to that station is always out at night in weired places it should not be -not patroling either- and many southerners are whispering…shhhhhhhhhhhhhh!

I await the fall-out from this bust because I have a funny feeling that somehow, somewhere, someone will have to pay. For this time, ‘JUST IN TIME” was right on time to be busted. Now its the court turn and I am looking forward to a cool 25yrs hard laybar as a start. They tired poison the youth of my nation.

    Assertive, NOT Agressive!

  38. August 13, 2012

Big hard back man like that and this is the best and only thing he finds to do. If you been trying this as a get rich scheme for 5 plus years and you still not rich, a light bulb should go off in your head and alert you that you will never be rich of this lifestyle. Hard work and decency is yet to kill anyone. All that risk, money down the drain where it needs to be, time in jail, lost years with your children and being productive in society all for quick action JUST IN TIME!

Just thinking: Whether the drug and money bust made here in the BVI and this one here are not related??? The name of that boat: “Just in Time” sounds very familiar; tied up in a similar story. Check bviplatinum.com –you just never know.

What did they think the boat was for? Twin 200 HP engines… for fishing?

Amen!! While I do not condone drug use/trafficking/supplying etc. I do know that while ppl condemn the ‘boy on the block’ selling it on the streets, they are backed/ funded by the the ”bigger bosses’ who already have jobs, are educated, own companies etc. So yes, I would love to see them exposed more.

      @ sousay

Take your head out of illegal drugs and illegal activities.
…And that ‘ting’ will put them in trouble and in the slammer – jail and also make those who ingest it unhealthy and will lead to their early demise. They can do something else. Dominica has a lot of land. I have previously stated and am emphatically reiterating that, ‘grow fruits, vegetables, beans and peas.’ They are healthy for consummation.
You must know this. Those who read this may know who I am. My father was employed full-time. He had a piece of family land which was in the interior of the area where we resided. Every Saturday and when he had vacation, he would go to that area. He had a cottage built in that area and would also spend a week there, leaving on Saturday to return so that he could attend his Catholic Church. Parents in those days did not miss their Sunday Holy Mass and ensured that their children attended.
He grew the above mentioned nutritious foods for the family. This made ends meet for the family. I cannot recall he even sold them but he would give to some neighbors. He was a generous man.
As a child during elementary school, my other brothers and sisters would go there with him. It was a country place and a secluded area and I did not enjoy going there but we did not complain. This means it was a dull place. :) We had no alternative when my disciplined, strict father told us that we are going there on the Saturday. We got up early that morning to walk a few miles to that area.
I could not wait for us to leave and return to our comfortable surroundings. :) Actually, it was company for him. We, the children never helped in growing but we enjoyed the mangoes which were special ones. We helped him bring the vegetables home as dacheen, tanya, yams (white and yellow yams) and especially at Christmas.
You know what? Today, residing overseas, how I would appreciate and enjoy visiting that area for even a day.
Why can those Dominicans not grow those fruits, vegetables, beans, peas, etc. for sale? Why do they have resort to illegal drugs and going overseas to purchase them? Are they stupid or what?
Know the difference between healthy and unhealthy foods, legal and illegal ones.
Based on the above, I have no empathy for those who do not live by the Law. Keep them incarcerated for the betterment of Dominica and the health and safety of nationals. Try them according to their crimes.
God bless Dominica. God bless nationals in general.
