Police investigate attempted suicide in north

police investigationLawmen are investigating a case of alleged attempted suicide which took place in the country’s second town of Portsmouth.

The incident occurred at about 7:30 am on Tuesday, December 1, 2015.

Sergeant Pellam Jno Baptiste, of the Public Relations Committee, said the 28-year-old of Petite Savanne was found in a kneeling position in an apartment at Glanvillia, with one end of a bed sheet tied around his neck and the other end tied to a burglar bar of a window.

“He was transported to the Reginald Fitzgerald Armour Hospital at Portsmouth where he received medical attention before being transferred to the Accident and Emergency Department of the Princess Margaret Hospital where he was seen by a medical doctor and admitted,” he said.

“Investigations are ongoing,” Jno Baptiste added.

Something is very fishy here. The question is: why would a Labourite want to take his or her own life. Dominica is great for Labourites! We do not have to worry about anything with our precious and compassionate Supreme Leader at the helm. Food, money, clothes, houses, cars and jobs are not a problem for us. We are blessed…our party is in power and will be in power for as long as we live. So…why would a Labourite want to take his own life? It does not make sense at all. Anything that became stressful or worrisome could have been taken to our blessed Labourite pal. rep. or directly to the Great and Wonderful Supreme Leader himself and it would be addressed promptly and efficiently. Is it that some Labourite comrades still don’t understand how sweet they have it in Dominica. It is a blessing to be red at this time on our Nation’s history. Labourites, comrades, friends, take care of yourselves and enjoy life. Dominica belongs to you!

If DNO did not modify or edit this original story, then I must conclude that we seem to have a serious literacy problem with some of those contributing here. Hopefully they would have left the country a long, long time ago.

We must feel sorry for him and hope he recovers, gets help and counseling.
Life could be tough. Situations could be disappointing. One has to be extremely strong of faith and character to put up with life’s problems and hardships.
I hope when he recovers, he is also instructed in godliness.
Life’s problems may appear to be everlasting but they are only temporary. If he practice the faith and prayed to God to assist and relieve him of his problem, he probably would not have resorted to this.
There could be more than anyone could ever fathom. He has family and friends. How caring are they, etc.? What about him? What type of life he lived prior to this? There are many questions to be asked and answered prior to assuming and concluding.
One thing, fellow D/cans, something which all of us should consider and always keep in mind: “There but for the grace of God go I.”
I hope this man will fully recover, never to try this again. May God assist him.

      Put yourself in their shoes. It would be very difficult to recover with the stigma. Also a mental scar lasts much longer than a physical scar. And lastly, we should be much more concerned as to what pain the person must have been going through that made them think and feel that suicide was the only way out. Lets send some prayers to this person and the many others who are suffering physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually. ;

You should be more worried about those that are homicidal and violent. Those are the ones you party with and raise up for being “badman”. Hypocrites

We so bamsi now that we know his name we want to see what he looking like. Now seriously speaking where is the sensitivity, confidentiality, and empathy for people who are depressed. Why publish his name? Big mistake. I hope he gets ALL the counseling he so rightly deserves. Hold on my boy, you are not the only one with problems. Just take one day at a time. I wish him and his family God’s guidance to overcome this situation.

    • Kraft
      December 3, 2015

You cant just assumed that the fellow wanted attention to his problems…. this seems like it was intentional and that attempt wasn’t successful. Wasn’t his time to go.. at least thank God that he’s still alive and he can get the help he needs to move forward with his life.

Why mention the quotation from Holy Scripture when you use such a name? Are you not a hypocrite? It appears you are neither here nor there. You do not have a mind of your own and you are a superstitious person at that who believes in nonsense – what which makes no sense and cannot assist anyone.

      December 3, 2015

\DNO no offense but this is not news. You are aggravating the young mans problems. Imagine the young man recovering and knowing that his problems are online for the world to see. Dealing with this problem in the community is bad enough – two communities. Out of the goodness of ones heart delete this story GIVE THE YOUNG MAN A FIGHTING CHANCE TO DEAL WITH HIS ISSUES AND HOPEFULY MAKE IT. I know there are people who made it through attempted suicide and are successful. This is helping destroy someones life. I doubt this is your main objective.

Certain news media organisations do not report suicides.
