Dominica police and Criminal Investigations Department (CID) are not doing their job or have enough resources with technology to catch criminals. We are a small island not a major country like USA, Canada, Euope! It should be much easier to hunt down and track individuals. We need a “War on Crime” this our version on “War on Terrorism”! I said before we face “terrorist” who terrorize us at home and visitors to our island! Please bring back the death penalty ie hanging or firing squad! Our Chinese friends have quick sentencing and execution of criminals! We need to conduct more “snatch and grab” operations against criminals hunt them down, make them always look behind their back. Jail is way to nice to our bad bays in the hood! I don’t believe in rehab and more jobs will solve or reduce the crimes.

I personally like Israels method with dealing rogue elements and terrorist who are threats against the state! By sparing no expense at all in hunting down and using various means to get rid of them. We are becoming a lawless state since no one has any fear!

Dominica needs its own version of the CIA|FBI|CIA whose sole purpose along with national security to hunt down criminals and be prosecuter and executioner!

I believe we should fight crime by being extremely harsh, using any means to fight and hunt down criminals (use your imagination)!

Personally if I was head of Dominica’s crime fighting unit, I want all available resources and zero political interference! I would want wiretap access, arrest and detention with no warrant, ability to extradite a criminals for trial, sentencing to another country if a citizen of a foreign state wants to prosecute the crime in their country. I would want my staff to have have a green light by the government to use all means at my diposal to deal with crime, use finger printing and spying to keep track of people. ability to launch operations against them using force as required lethal or non lethal. have a reward system to encourage people to come forward with information. Be quick effecting and leave criminals a lasting scar, memories that they will never forget after being caught! Some say I advocate for harshness I do and would be proud to do so.

its been over a year since my business was robbed and to this date i am beging to wonder what went wrong because it never even appeared on the news paper and over $40000 in items were stolen and have never been retrived, these robbries are rampant in da now because people are buying from these persons .thats why the law must start investigating people to know how they came about their goods especialy when they know that they people are not in a position o be able to purchase them

But why most everything in DA so miley mouse nuh? Why on earth would a financial institution have a safe that can be carried away by thieves? Were they looking for a bargain safe to store their cash? Are we that frigging stupid in Dominica?

If you are the custodian of people’s hard earn money, you have a responsibility to safeguard it the best way you know how.

I hope they had insurance on that money. But if they are that reckless to store money in a safe the has the weight of a tin can, I would not bet on them having insurance. And I would be willing to bet my last dollar that there are other credit unions in Dominica with a similar safe and they will not give a second thought to replacing it or reviewing their security procedures. They always feel it will never happen to them.

the crime rate has never stopped the police from arresting thieves. Their day will come. Hatians coming in your country and work so hard for a dollar and u want to thief from the hands of ur own country. Wake up and go and look blasted work to do. Even if you not getting paid enough money saving can go a long way. If u try to b big before u start small u will always have zero. I will always criticize the judicial system in dominica cause they too damn slack with criminals thats why these robberries and killings keep repeating itself. You putting someome in jail for 3 months and then expects things to change?? What kind of ****rize is dat?? Is so den?? A a.

GWANBAY ENCORE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Lord I pray for that village everyday. Too many criminals hiding in that village. Until the souteeweihs them start snitching on on them criminals hiding in PLAIN SIGHT Gwanbay will never never change because like it or not, change comes from within. Now let me hear those sorry apologist come and tell me crime everywhere so no problem in Gwanbay.

    • February 14, 2012

So Mr/Ms/Mrs Shameless are you really that ignorant, for you to be reigning brimstone and fire on Grand Bay when the majority of the robberies and other crimes taking place in our country has been happening elsewhere and not it Grand Bay. SMH . Let me make it clear to you that i don’t condone this type of behavior anywhere in our sweet country, i love my country dearly and i would wish that the majority of us would love it the way i do and try to promote more positive than negative … I would appreciate it if you would be a little more civilized and keep away from those ignorant comments … I do hope that you understand… have a blessed day

      • Shameless
        February 14, 2012

        @ From Grand Bay
Unfortunately you dont have to condone my behaviour. Like it or not, history is a better judge than you and I when it comes to criminal activities in Gwanbay. We can all be patriotic and or nostalgic about our communities or country but that does not negate the fact that while Gwanbay has a majority of god fearing, decent people there are just too many criminals hiding in plain sight. When you can prove history wrong then I will publicly apoligize. Until then, GWANBAY ENCORE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We don’t want muslim to establish themselves in dominica or to even open any store. They are very selfish people, they are only for themselves and they are only there to grab all they can and send their cash back to their country. They are not here to help the community but only themselves. They would not employ any citizen but only their own people. TAKE THIS AS A WARNING.

Chinese for you to fear. What ignorance is that. Don’t you know the muslims are DOMINICAN BY BIRTH? BORN & BRED in DOMINICA before embracing their faith. Today is them, tommorow it’s you and your family members. We should be singing from the same hymn sheet where crime and violence is concerned. The chinese are the ones who need to be sent back yet I would not condone violent acts against them, just send them back and bar them from opening businesses in Dominica. Once they can’t open run down cheap stores they will leave. They are not buying anything neither do they circulate any money in the economy.

A friend of mine who is not a Muslim and is a Dominican works there so that shows how silly your comment is especially since the branch on bayfront has at least 3-4 employees who are not muslims… Also most of the Muslim’s in Dominica are DOMINICAN…

Dominica has some of the most stupid people in the universe. The Muslim store is owned by a Dominican we all know him, we went to school with him. Please check your facts and try to make some kind of sense.

      February 14, 2012

That was definitely among the best well written nonsense I’ve had the detriment of reading on DNO. WoW. You are such an idiot and it’s very easy to prove. If you’ve ever stepped foot inside the Muslim store you will find that the majority of workers are non Muslim Dominicans. WoW. With that one sentence I just disproved your entire comment. And if I had to be as stereotypical as you I would say something like : boy you mad. you threatening the Muslims. you doh know them man go bomb you. all a dem are terrorists.
      Grow up little minded person.
Since when has my beloved Dominica become so racist?

true story….while in I THE STATES….WALKING IN A mall…i dropped a 50 dollar bill…did not realize….two white guys in their early 20’s called on me and my friend and ask if we lost a 50 dollar bill…i said no …they stood there wondering what they should do with it….close by was one of those large donation barrels to help feed the hunger or something like that… the top was depressed shaped like a funnel for the money to go in….one of the guys send the money into the container….then i realize it was my money…i went looking for it…luckily for me it got stuck …it didn’t slide all the way down…so i retrieved it…i looked for the guys but they were long gone…and this lady wouldn’t stop staring at me like i stole the money from the container…..i felt bad retrieving the money but i needed it…. i started thinking maybe they were angels…but no they choose to make a good decision…i know that their situation may have been a lot different meaning their upbringing…but still……

I remember the days when D’ca policemen pass their time cooking dumpling and playing domino without having to step a foot outside, now things have certainly changed – they are kept on their toes due to the ever-increasing criminal activities.

What has become of good, old Dominica? Cultural shift, perhaps?
This new generation wants to live the “American Dream”, how about living the “Dominican Dream- Using your functional hands and feet, your good health, sound mind, and strength to get what you want? That was the trademark of your forefathers – a people who never rested, but worked hard to make sure their family had a comfortable life.

what are the profile of these robbers…parent?…well this one is subjective….no one knows what goes on in someones home…you may think someone come form a good home but you have no idea…..are they employed?…or have they been they permanently unemployed?…age range?….that we do know…from teenage men to those in their 40’s….how many years of schooling? socioeconomic status of parents?..
stealing is wrong especially when it is done to poor struggling people …. stealing from an establishment such as a bank… i do not condone but feel less angry because the owners are covered but hurting someone in the process..
