Police Spokesman ASP Claude Weekes has confirmed that law men are conducting an investigation into the death of a man who was set ablaze in February.

The man has been identified as Davidson Daisy.

He died at the Princess Margaret Hospital on Sunday, March 22.

The incident took place on February 7.

It is reported that Daisy was doused with a flammable liquid and set on fire while he slept on a mattress in a run-down building next to the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Pottersville.

The incident had links with a $30 drug deal that went bad, according to information received by DNO.

The incident took place in full view of several eye witnesses in a house that is a haven for many homeless people.

Daisy was first a patient at the Intensive Care Unit of the hospital and subsequently at the Alford Ward.

The brutality of the incident has shocked many Dominicans and there have been calls for swifter action by the police in investigating the matter.

There is someone who gave my comment dislike. I am suspicious of you. I am wondering if this person had something to do with this man’s death from the moment he was set ablaze. Why would a sane, caring, compassionate and considerate person give my comment dislike? You have a severe problem. If it were possible, this person should be investigated. God knows who you are.

What occurred to this man was inhumane. Picture ourselves if this occurred to us. Ouch, that is painful and hurts!
The investigation should have commenced from the moment the man was set ablaze and/or when he was admitted to the hospital.
What took them so long to commence? This is why sometimes cases go cold. You must step on the gas, so-to-speak, as soon as crimes are committed.
You first commence with the family, then friends to find out where he was and/or frequented. This is how the police usually catch those perpetrators.
I am not stating that the Toronto Police of all are perfect. The police do not hesitate. There are occasions, more often than not, they perform investigations and they catch them. In fact, their names and pictures are posted on Websites which the public sees. There are times they turn themselves in. Better to turn themselves in than the police catch them. If the latter, their punishment will be more severe.

for some reason I don’t believe this man died from the burn. looking at his condition on the bed, something is telling me that he was neglected therefore he died from lack of care and hunger. There is no drip attached to him so i’m certain he was not fed…Mr. Weekes do ur investigation. what does the autopsy say?

You probably have a good point. An investigation should be made as to the procedure which they followed to treat him and to try to heal him.

A warning only? Are they serious? The police should have picked up that man and interrogated him.

    March 24, 2015

It seems as if the sin of the leader is taking FULL swing on the island man? “That no law, no constitution” seed that was sown in 2009 is sure hurting the nation because from that day the nature of crimes committed here have increased significantly and day by day Dominica sure seems to have gone to Hell. When a leader publicly tells the nation that no law or constitution could stop him from doing what he wants to do and has really lived as though there is no law or constitution, what does one expect happen to others. It sure reminds me of the old song “Mama maje waysen da zafa ka see.” The English translation simply means that what mothers eat will affect their children. How true!

you all like to say what all u want too much. The man said no law or constitution can prevent him from voting. Not to do what he wants! He was right. He was born and bred right here in Dominica. Why didnt you stop him?

They will keep harping on the same words to their death. For years now to today they are repeating those words which also have no bearing on the subject matter. It is as if they are more perfect than others and in their mannerisms and speech. What a waste of God-given precious time.
They want all D/cans to join them. Not all will for some are broad-minded enough to know that these critics took those words out of context, just as they do other words/comments and turn them around to suit their mentality. They do the same to Holy Scripture.
Some make statements and some others misinterpret them, blow them out of proportion and use them against the one who made the remark.
Do you want to bet this is what occurred? I think it is high time they cease this for it really does no good as an ill-wind which blows nobody any good. They are wasting their time.
There is a God above. He is patient. Faith, Hope and Trust in Him. One day they will pay for their words.

Such a wicked and sickening act upon another human being. I was so saddened to hear such sad news and prayed for the victim and also the perpetrato . For surely to carry out such a heinous crime one has to be possesed by some evil spirit. Ihope that the police are going to investigate this barbaric act and not ignore it as is the habit of the law enforcers in Dominica.

“Police Spokesman ASP Claude Weekes has confirmed that law men are conducting an investigation into the death of a man who was set ablaze in February.”
My question is, when was the CRIME committed? Was it on Feb. 07, 2015 when the man was set on fire alive or March 22nd, 2015 when the victim died? I mean come on guys! From the date of the incident the culprit should have been haunted, arrested, and jailed. After the death of Davidson then the charge should change to murder.

      March 24, 2015

The criminal was given enough time to get on a boat and head to a neighboring island. Such a shame!!! Now, he may never face his jail but he will face his karma!!!
