The police say they have launched an investigation into a shooting incident which took place in Roseau on Sunday.
Reports indicate that Stephen Hill of Layou is presently nursing a gunshot wound to his abdoment after he was shot by Gifford Charles, proprietor of Charlo’s Minimart on Independent Street in the capital.
According to the police around 11:30 am on Sunday Stephen, 34, was involved in an altercation with some employees of Charlo’s Minimart and began throwing stones into the business place.
He was shot when he armed himself with a cutlass, the police said.
They say the matter is still under investigation.

When someone work hard for what they have, and another one thinks he could go distroy his life with drugs, alchol or whatever, and coming to my place with a cutlass, I would shoot first, and ask questions later. There are people who are mentally ill, and others who are mentally wicked. If he had cut someone neck, or whole someones child hostage what would people say. Take them before they take u. Time police come the damage is done. Sorry, this is a wicked, and crazy world that we are living. When people do foolishness with their life, and you work hard to get where your are, they have the guts to be jelous? ‘Too Bad” I see to much innocent people get hurt, and get killed in the USA, and some ‘Phychologist” say they crazy. i remember Charlo’s Place was the only Place in Roseau for 24 hrs Service and it’s because of some people like that we have to wait till next day,however i know Charlo to be A Reasonable person and would do what he knows was the best action then. It’s just unfortunate that some matters needs to be resolved in that manner but God is Good there’s always A Lesson in all things.

When a case is still under investigation why is the business place named and also the owner of the business place in the news? Why is the news carrying the gentleman’s name so BOLD in the news?
Some times the news is read a certain business place or a certain business man when the case is still under investigation.
Proper facility is needed for these kind of people (mentally ill people) What if it was a child he had attack on the road or a senior citizen? These paros and mentally ill people need to be cared for in a proper facility. This man could of kill the gentleman’s staff/employee and because he is sick people are afraid to approach him. Why would someone come to your business place with a cutlass and then try to attack one of your employees. He is known to be sick but that does not mean he was sick that day for he knew what his intentions were.

Charlo is a reasonable man. I will err on the side of caution and believe that Charlo had accessed the situation and use reasonable force to avert further problems. Thats why persons are given licence to operate firearms.
