Police are still searching for two men who robbed a Springfield Trading driver of $5,000 on Friday.

The incident occurred in Gutter Portsmouth at about 2:00 p.m. Two masked men, armed with guns, accosted a shopkeeper and a Springfield Trading driver who were in the process of negotiating a sale.

Meanwhile, in a separate incident on Wednesday last week over $40,000 was stolen from Maximum Building Supplies.

According to the Police Public Relations Officer Inspector Claude Weekes, a security guard was tied up while masked men were able to get away with the cash from a vault in the building. According to Weekes, cell phones, laptop computers among other valuables were also stolen.

Inspector Weekes is urging Dominicans to cooperate with the police to aid in solving these crimes.

Security guards are only human and further more, they are not provided with adequate resources and training to handle the types of criminals who are presenting themselves today. The criminals are educating and equiping themselves to be better at what they do so the security firms have to do better than what they are doing at present.
