Sabaroche court matter adjourned

Sabaroche

Former Education and Health Minister Herbert Sabaroche, who was arrested and charged on allegations of battery on a police inspector, resisting arrest and obstruction in 2011, will have to wait a little longer  for his trial to begin.

Sabaroche appeared before Magistrate, Evelina Baptiste, at the Roseau Magistrate Court on Thursday and was told that at the request of his lawyer, the matter was adjourned to April 11, 2013.

The former Parliamentary Representative for Colihaut was arrested during a protest held by the United Workers Party (UWP) in Roseau in 2011 when opposition forces took to the streets near the Parliament building to expressed open disapproval that the National Budget did not make provisions for electoral reform.

Magistrate Baptiste was not amused at having to grant an adjournment. “Everytime matters come up for trial, the court is always getting a letter from counsel stating they had a matter in High Court,” she said.

Attorney Singoalla Blomquist Williams, who is representing the defendant, was not present in court.

Her husband Kevin Williams, himself an attorney, acted on her behalf.

It is a shame that the Police Force has become so politicized.
Police officers must rise above the fray and see beyond this petti polictical small mindedness that is being displayed by too many of our local politicians.
So the police in return, act on these vibes that they get from those politicians, even if it is implied or directed, and go about to unfairly harrass people who they think are in the opposition and are very vocal, just so that this police officer/s may get a tap on the shoulder or more. This Sabaroche issue is a typical example of this.
CDPF must realize that politicians come and go but the CDPF remains for ever.Police officers must enforce the Law ,and stop doing politicians work.

We are not one of the poorest country in the caribbean. We Dominicans are living a very decent life compared to what i have seen in other caribbean countries. We are a very proud people but we need to be more humble and loving to our own people. We will be one of the most undevided people in the caribbean if we continue to put down our own people and refuse to use what we have to get what we want.
We are so richly blessed in Dominica and are depending on Government to do everything for us. Yet when they attempt to do and when they do, we react negatively by critising and finding fault with everything.
Be it opposition or otherwise, when something positive is done, give them the credit where it is due. LET’s MOVE ON.

When will the man with the 43 charges of criminal misconduct have his day before the court like Sabaroche?…See why i will always called this country a failed state? Too many of this SELECTIVE JUSTICE thing.
A country can never progress when these things are reigning supreme. No wonder we are one of the the poorest country in the Caribbean.
