Salybia MP shocked at ‘gruesome’ killing in Loubiere.

Darroux sas he condemns all acts of violence

Parliamentary Representative for the Salybia Constituency Casius Darroux has expressed shock and sympathy towards the recent killing of 31-year- old Valda Laville, saying that it was a “gruesome act.”

Laville died of multiple stab wounds in an incident which took place on Lahaut Road in Loubiere on January 4.

Darroux said that he is deeply saddened by the incident and that the idea of a human being inflicting or carrying out such “an inhumane act” is unfathomable.

“I understand the shock they are going through at this moment,” he said, referring to the family of the victim.

Darroux has made it clear that violence against women, children and the vulnerable, in any form, needs to be condemned.

“We as a community, I believe we need to collectively condemn this act of killing, and as a small developing country, we must make it our collective responsibility to keep our eyes open for our brothers and sisters,” Darroux stated.

According to him, this case is a wake-up call for other communities where they must “pay attention to what is going on.”

“Because many times we see things, we hear things, but we don’t expose it,” he said.

Darroux hopes that during this New Year, a more positive approach can be taken towards the well being of the people.

“Especially those who are less fortunate and those who are vulnerable,” he said.

A man from the Kalinago Territory was arrested in connection with the incident and Darroux said it is “not of the Kalinago people to inflict pain on their brothers and sisters.”

“I condemn this act, and I will join all others in condemning this act of violence. We should stop this act of violence against women now. I believe it is a wake-up call for everyone,” Darroux stated. “The family is in even much more pain than I am. It is not only the family of the deceased but also the family of the one that carried out the act.”

Meanwhile, the Loubiere Village Council has released a statement on the matter.

Below is the full statement.

The Loubiere Village Council wishes to extend sincere condolences to the Olive family on the unexpected tragic death incident which took place on 4th January 2017. The council, however, prays that the God of compassion and mercy control the situation and comfort them in their sorrow.

sir it is gracious that the kalinago people have distance themselves from such a vicious and senseless act,no one deserves to be brutally murdered this way.

While blame cannot be placed on one institution , we have become a lawless society because our law department has adicated their role and responsibilities. Now they no longer walk in the villages especially when their vehicles are down. So law makers are we going to curse each other or bring a halt to this out of control madness.

The question is, what could cause some people to commit murder? Some of them are premeditated and others are not.
A bad man, a bad mind, bad-tempered and a jealous nature could do it.
From youth they must be counseled about what could transpire when they become adults and to caution them to live a godly life, to have respect for others and their well being. Many lack proper nurturing. Consider,, it could also be bad nurturing or none at all, the examples projected in the home and keeping bad company. We do know bad company corrupts.
He deprived her of her God-given precious life. If he cared he would also think that she has children and would avoid harming her.
What type of person is he? He should have thought when he commit murder he will be arrested, charged and imprisoned. He has jeopardized his future and life.. Is it worth killing someone and depriving her of her life?
In all manner, think before you act! Sadly, it is too late for her. RIP!

“The Loubiere Village Council wishes to extend sincere condolences to the Olive family”!!!! Wait wait wait a minute!!!! Isn’t Olive the last name of the alleged perpetrator? Isn’t Laville the last name of the VICTIM? Maybe I’m just confused but why issue condolences to the perpetrator’s family and not the victim’s??? Maybe it’s just a typo on the author’s part or maybe the typo is DNO’s mistake. In any event, MY deepest sympathies and condolences goes out to the family and friends of Ms. Valda Laville. I pray that you will somehow find comfort during this most trying time and in time heal from the pain that is inevitable during such tragic events. May Angels camp round about you while you go through the grieving process and hold you up during those times that you feel to weak to go on. Myself, losing a loved one thru gun violence not too long ago, knows exactly what you’re going through. I feel your pain, especially because I knew Valda.

So much killing now in Dominica. Seems this beautiful nature island is becoming a scary place to live. People write their comments but nothing changes and the killings, robberies, rapes, disappearances continue. What a shame and so sad to see this wonderful little island become such a lawless land where people have to live in fear. How many more have to lose their lives to such senseless, brutal violence before anything is done? Are we going to let the rapists, thieves and murderers completely take over our beautiful little island?

when people of a nation don’t practice righteousness, unrighteousness become norm and crime and confusion become law..

Our sympathies are sent to the family of Valda Laville tragically killed on 4th January. We sincerely hope they have swifter justice than the family and friends of British citizen Rose Wyatt who was killed in Dominica exactly one year ago and who are still awaiting closure and justice for this despicable crime.
