The September Criminal Assizes is set to begin on September 17, 2013 with wounding and sexual offenses dominating the long list.
From the look of things there are some 30 matters to be dealt with, including quite a number of “wounding and grievous bodily harm and sexually offenses”.
Other matters on the list are causing death by dangerous driving, burglary, handling stolen goods, murder among others.
Attorney General Levi Peter is expected to prosecute on the behalf of the state as acting Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) until the arrival of Guyanese Kurt DeFrietas who has been appointed as DPP to replace Gene Pestaina who demited office in July.
DeFrietas is expected to begin his duties in late October.
Also expected during the assizes is the sentencing of murder convict, Edward “Alcapone” Green, who was found guilty of the murder of Damian Dorival in 2008.
Dear Lord, Please help us in this small and underdeveloped country. Where are we going with all these crimes, with such a small population. The Bible said, the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life. Please Lord, let us love one another more, stop the hatred towards each other, forgive each other, etc. Life is short, and at the end of our life, we have to give an account to the creator of heaven and earth. I personally, I am working with myself too. Because at the end of the day with all these fuss and fight, I will have high blood pressure. I don’t want the sun to go on my wrath.
Time is still available to reverse the decision. Please appoint a better qualified person.
