A man from Silver Lake is in police custody following an armed robbery and shooting which took place at a shop in Goodwill on Tuesday.

Police PRO Acting Inspector Pellam Jno Baptiste said the incident left one man nursing gunshot wounds at hospital.

The incident took place at around 10:30 am on Tuesday, April 12, 2016 at Murphy’s Lane in Goodwill.

“According to initial police investigations one individual wearing a mask and armed with a pistol robbed the business place of Bernard Simeon of an unspecified amount of cash,” Jno Baptiste said. “While fleeing the scene, the suspect shot a 31-year-old male customer, Joseph Detouche, of Solomon Lane in Goodwill.”

He stated that Detouche sustained a gunshot wound to his lower hip and taken to the Princess Margaret Hospital where he was examined and admitted.

Investigations are ongoing.

Jno Baptiste said anyone with information concerning this crime should contact the Criminal Investigation Department at 266-5164, 266-5165, and 266-5119 or Crime Stoppers Dominica at 1-800-8477.

Initial reports indicate the suspect got away with $50.

Silver Lake seems to be the haven for criminal development.

I wondered if he would ever be apprehended. I am pleased he was arrested. He used a gun during the robbery and injured a customer. I hope he is not granted bail which he does not deserve.
Imagine stealing from your fellow people, having a gun in your possession and shooting a customer. The fact he had a gun, he meant to use it and commit murder. He deserves to be incarcerated until his case is called and thereafter.

After a robbery one would hear of arrests being made, after a while you do not hear of that case any more. I would like to know what is happening to these cases?

The Candy Man can ’cause he mixes it with love and makes the world taste good

Armed robbery with a deadly weapon, 10 yrs. Attempted murder 15 yrs. To be served consecutively. Give him 25 yrs in prison. Tax payers would be happy to feed him dasheen and fig for that time.

Check the sick fella to represent you. In return, go to the next uwp meeting/press conference or whatever and make noise for him.

    • April 13, 2016

To you Big Mouth, no one is immune to sickness, someone committed a crime, instead for you to stick to the issue, hear you are telling the individual to check the sick feller to represent him, without you mentioning the name of the sick feller, many of us know who you are referring to. I say to you, no one is perfect, hope you accomplished your mission, some of us Dominicans like to rejoice when my our brothers and siters slide and fall, I say to you, with God all things are possible, today is the sick feller, who knows tomorrow might be your tune, Big Mouth rejoice not, for no one knows what tomorrow may bring us, this too shall come to pass
