A man from Silver Lake is in police custody following an armed robbery and shooting which took place at a shop in Goodwill on Tuesday.
Police PRO Acting Inspector Pellam Jno Baptiste said the incident left one man nursing gunshot wounds at hospital.
The incident took place at around 10:30 am on Tuesday, April 12, 2016 at Murphy’s Lane in Goodwill.
“According to initial police investigations one individual wearing a mask and armed with a pistol robbed the business place of Bernard Simeon of an unspecified amount of cash,” Jno Baptiste said. “While fleeing the scene, the suspect shot a 31-year-old male customer, Joseph Detouche, of Solomon Lane in Goodwill.”
He stated that Detouche sustained a gunshot wound to his lower hip and taken to the Princess Margaret Hospital where he was examined and admitted.
Investigations are ongoing.
Jno Baptiste said anyone with information concerning this crime should contact the Criminal Investigation Department at 266-5164, 266-5165, and 266-5119 or Crime Stoppers Dominica at 1-800-8477.
Initial reports indicate the suspect got away with $50.
That’s the shop where this man is going in with a gun, armed robbery…
This man can’t be serious….He must be desperate…
Silver Lake seems to be the haven for criminal development.
I wondered if he would ever be apprehended. I am pleased he was arrested. He used a gun during the robbery and injured a customer. I hope he is not granted bail which he does not deserve.
Imagine stealing from your fellow people, having a gun in your possession and shooting a customer. The fact he had a gun, he meant to use it and commit murder. He deserves to be incarcerated until his case is called and thereafter.
no “judicial review”?
someone please tell me where this Silver lake is located. I never heard of it when I lived in Roseau. Lordy, Lord. I remember Dominica when I lived there in the early sixties. Am I that old? No matter. I love that island with a passion. Get rid of all those criminals, please.
Hello Dominican Passport, when you have your rude comments please keep it for yourself or speak for yourself and familiies, but please dont speak for me or on behave of Portsmouth people because we never said or ask you that we are hungry down there, you are out of order and rude to my portsmouth people. If you are hungry just say so but dont class others in it. No way place little boy ok. Damn rude.
That’s good news. I hope they throw the book at this fellow, and I hope the police keep it up and find the rest of the bandits plaguing Dominica.
After a robbery one would hear of arrests being made, after a while you do not hear of that case any more. I would like to know what is happening to these cases?
They either fade away or they let the criminal go.
Give mr blows.

The Candy Man, oh the Candy Man can
The Candy Man can ’cause he mixes it with love and makes the world taste good
Who can take a rainbow, wrap it in a sigh
Soak it in the sun and make a groovy lemon pie
The Candy Man, the Candy Man can
The Candy Man can ’cause he mixes it with love and makes the world taste good.” YOU SHOULD NEVER CAUSE HARM TO A CANDY MAN. HE MAKES THE WORLD TASTE GOOD.
Finally!!! Make an example of this jack-@$$! Properly let him see the error of his stupidity!
Armed robbery with a deadly weapon, 10 yrs. Attempted murder 15 yrs. To be served consecutively. Give him 25 yrs in prison. Tax payers would be happy to feed him dasheen and fig for that time.
His solicitor will be thinking otherwise. He is going to defend him to the “T”
Silverlake again!!
It had to be from Silver Lake. All of them hungry down that side.
Is not them alone… Newtown, Bathestate, Grandbay, Fondcole, Tarish pit, yampiece, kingshill and certain parts of Portsmouth should be in that bracket.

shut your dutty ratid. Kingshill and Grandbay not in your hungry story. you more hungry than us with your name. Dominican Passports you have to sell.
Right there behind P.M. office in Pond. That’s why he always have the drapes in office close, so he does not have to see that. Slowly but surely most of Dominica turning into a ghetto.
Check the sick fella to represent you. In return, go to the next uwp meeting/press conference or whatever and make noise for him.
To you Big Mouth, no one is immune to sickness, someone committed a crime, instead for you to stick to the issue, hear you are telling the individual to check the sick feller to represent him, without you mentioning the name of the sick feller, many of us know who you are referring to. I say to you, no one is perfect, hope you accomplished your mission, some of us Dominicans like to rejoice when my our brothers and siters slide and fall, I say to you, with God all things are possible, today is the sick feller, who knows tomorrow might be your tune, Big Mouth rejoice not, for no one knows what tomorrow may bring us, this too shall come to pass
He may need the sick fella one day
Congratulations to the police, this is indeed fast work.
Looking good. I hope there will be a clear conviction.
