Shoot person for $50 but can afford a gun and ammunition. If you’re that desperate for money or food why not sell the gun for few thousands? Money is not the only motivation for these morons. It’s the thrill and street fame they are after. The culture of the youth is the “bad man” culture where they think if you not robbing, killing or stealing you’re not the cool kid. I hope hey know the life expectancy for “bad man” is short, very short. We need to change that culture.

The story is left for speculation. I read a masked man I did not read an armed masked man, sometimes a word left out or added makes all the difference to a news item.

Who shot the customer for $50.00? Hope the customer will be okay and hope the robber is found and the merchant, I pray they will be okay; Someone walks into your place of business to rob you and to put your life and those of your customers at risk, very sad no matter how you try to analyze it and what should you do?

What amuses me in such a serious case is our make believe these things just started happening, Why then have we always had police stations and people being held in cells? What has happened is we live in the cyber age so as soon as something happens it is all over the internet that is the only difference. The vollair, thief; has always been there.

The difference is the thieves are using guns instead of knives, cutlasses and the victims have guns too instead of stones and fists.

This is an indication of the situation in the country. These thugs have nothing to loose, they don’t care who or where they rob, attack, or whatever the dirty deed. This is what happens when the countries national security is of zero importance…….this is what happens when there is divide in the police force and poor leadership…….this is what happens when the judicial system is corrupt and inept. This is what happens when the economy is flat and too many are out of work…….when people have left farming looking for a better dollar and there is none

I did not think I would live to see the day where a man would take his time, put on a mask, to go rob a candy shop in Dominica. I mean a candy shop in Dominica? I mean very few regular shops in Dominica these days under Skerrit make more than $50.00 a day, far less a candy shop. He was even lucky to get that much.
The way Skerrit put things in Dominica these days I would not be at all surprised to hear mothers literally selling their babies to pay a bill. You remember in 2kings 6:24-29, when life got really difficult mothers agreed to kill their babies to eat? If Skerrit remains in power for another 5 years, that same thing will happen before our eyes in Dominica.

Dominica is a relatively safe country. Disappointingly, criminals have caused it to be unsafe. One day they will pay for their actions.
The thief thought he would get more money. Fool! $50 is not much. How much could be purchased with that amount? Shame on you! I hope you are caught.

  21. April 12, 2016

How much money is an idiot expecting to get from a sweet corner shop ? The gov’t must wake up to put a stop to this life of crime which is taking over the place.Dominica is not in need of that, prison sentences are too short and the life in the prison might be too sweet..make people work for the own food..

  22. Just like that!!
    April 12, 2016

OMG……… Seriously, am I really reading this? Someone actually robbed a sweet shop and shot a person for $50.00? What kind of individual would do this?
Criminals like these, deserves to be humiliated in the form of a public flogging with the Cat O Nine Tails. Those of you who keep repeating that Dominica is finished should stop it. It is those petty criminals who are the real idiots and they giving Dominica a bad name.

Dominica is not finished. It will not be finished; only when God is ready for it to be finished. What Dominicans must do is to fervently pray that crimes are eradicated.
God must be genuinely worshiped. Nationals must perform good works that their prayers will be eventually answered in God’s time. Prayers, patience and perseverance.

When I use to buy my hapnee tablet some school children use to thief it from me. Children use to steal tablet in shops. The difference is they use to take it and run and because everyone knew everyone parents would cut your tail if it was ever known you stole the lady tablet or sweetee. All the shop keepers in those days were surrogate parents and everyone looked out for everyone but what we have seen is selfishness and jealousy growing and growing. But thieves they were always there.

I want to read fewer stories about arrests of ganja farmers, and more articles about arrests of violent criminals like this. To shoot someone over fifty dollars is madness.

You do know some could shoot and kill for much less, even for $2.00. Consider when they go to steal and their victim has few funds or none at all, you know what they will do.

      April 13, 2016

Ok then the government will have to hire more police officers, and which then they will have have to run more plain clothes operations. Business, store should place more surveillance cameras, and hire arm guards. And also ganja criminals also commit violent crimes also. I wonder what you would classified-call a child abuser, maybe a misguided person

Goodwill used to produce top of the top young men who many admired. Now, all those people that moving into the community from wherever they come out and having the place like a ghetto spot with their malcassay children growing up with no respect or fear of God. Yes goodwill always had kawants, but we always knew our place and we were respectful. most we ever stole was mangos and fruits on occasion. These days, little high school boys smoking weed live on the courts in the afternoons. that couldnt happen before, some parent would have dealt with that. now, noone cares. Goodwill for life tho.

    • Goodwill was always num 1

Trust me noone cares they used to say so much about the goodwill youth before (more bad than good) and all what they were doing was constructive now who is saying anything noone cares… Our savana used to be filled with adults and young people on a Monday afternoon dont even talk about on a friday everyone having fun and socializing now we have young girls and boys thinking they are gangsters with no direction and when u go to the savana you would swear its a ghost town… Things seemed to have changed for the worst in goodwill

This is the same for all communities…People from all over are now living in my community as well.Even police officers who drink hard, curse with deafening loudness and have rogue characters as their best friends….Dominica is in total chaos and disorder. The family structure is largely broken, but who cares??? You believe the GREEDIES in government are not aware that the country is in chaos??? This much I can state. It is no longer the place it once was and not as safe a place.

“Where you be dere for true”! lazy; nasty; hate-filled; always looking for someone to blame and people always looking to justify these wrong acts in the name of scoring political points! Dat’s where you be!

A sweet shop, on a morning? For crying out loud!

There is no work but Haitians taking over all work! The market; the handymen at the port; grass cutting; barber shops; sewing; ironing, you name it, they do it. How often do you hear of a Haitian in the hands of the law for lazy and wicked thieving? Not often, if at all! That’s a people with a proud work ethic, challenged as they are in their homeland but still productive and disciplined wherever they go!

That’s how we used to be before the new Dominica of name-calling and cursing and hating, morning, noon and night!
