The hitman email

Emails claiming that a hired assassin will spare your life if you pay him a specified sum are simply attempts to scare recipients into sending money to scammers.

Several professionals and business persons have reported receiving emails in which the sender claims he has been paid to kill you but he will cancel the contract if you pay him a large sum of money.

The message claims that “a friend” ordered the hit, but after monitoring you for a time, the assassin is now convinced that you are innocent and is therefore willing to let you live in exchange for a substantial payout.

The latest email received by a businessman has the subject line, ASSASIN, I HAVE BEEN PAYED TO TERMINATE YOU, and states:

This is the only way I could contact you for now, I want you to be very careful about this  and keep this secret with you until I make out space for us to see. You have no need of knowing who I am or where I am from. I know this may sound very surprising to you but it’s the situation. I have been paid some ransom in advance to terminate you with some reasons listed to me by my employer. It’s someone I believe you call a friend; I have followed you closely for a while now and have seen that you are innocent of the accusations he leveled against you. Do not contact the police or try to send a copy of this to them, because if you do, I will know, and I might be pushed to do what I have been paid to do. Besides, this is the first time I turn out to be a betrayer in my job. I took pity on you, that is why I have made up my mind to help you if you are willing to help yourself.

Now listen, I will arrange for us to see face to face, but before that, I need $9,000. I will come to your home or you determine where you wish we meet; I repeat, do not arrange for the cops and if you play hard to get, it will be extended to your family. Do not set any camera to cover us or set up any tape to record our conversation; my employer is in my control now. Payment details will be provided for you to make a part payment of $3,000 first, which will serve as guarantee that you are ready to co-operate, then I will post a copy of the video tape that contains his request for me to terminate you which will be enough evidence for you to take any legal action against him before he employs another person for the job. You will pay the balance of $3,000 once you receive the tape.

Warning; do not contact the police, make sure you stay indoors once it is 7.30pm every day  until this whole thing is sorted out, if you neglect any of these warnings, you will have yourself to blame. You do not have much time, so get back to me immediately.

Note: I will advise you keep this to yourself alone, not even a friend or a family member should know about it because it could be one of them.

According to online research, the email is not from a hitman and is simply an attempt to extort money by scaring recipients into sending money to Internet scammers.

The hit man email scam s reported to be part of the Nigerian Bank Scam and apparently has existed since 2006, but is sent mainly to professionals and business people who is likely to afford the sum.

Persons are advised not to send any money or personal information, or better yet do not reply to the email.

The FBI is aware of the emails and have sent out advisories over the years. The FBI warns recipients to report the matter to their local or state police, especially if the emails contain personally identifiable information about the recipient of the email.

    I think that the person who just wrote. ‘it is going to get worste.” stop playing politics is the jack a…
    doing this. all you have to do is play the game with the person , and see how far he will go. ask him for hs bank account #, the bank address phone # all all the other details. No western union address. Tell him you are not afraid to die, let him know that the amount is nothing for you to pay. You do need any home visit from him, you will not deliver the money in poerson, ,then contact the FBI or CID with that info and let them get their id from the said bank. Did you all see how men were caught on tape on CNN? they tracked them as far a France and all around Europe. Tekl these fools find some work to do. I would love to get a mail. Let me teach them how to play scammmmmm…………………….1

    This been happening all over the UK, Canada, the USA and other countries this is late for Dominica, i will not name what nationality is engage in this behavior, however, these individuals are tagging seniors causing some of them to loose their houses, and their retirements, they are going in hospitals where and also targeting people on their death beds, i saw on America Most Wanted where they featured a highly educated man from an African country who is wanted in the USA for scamming people of millions of dollars, i received an email a few years ago saying that i won the Liverpool lotto something i did not buy, i went directly on Liverpool Football website and hold and behold the very first thing i read is Beware of the Nigerian Scam, leaders from all over the world are cautioning their citizens of the scam, this being in Dominica is no news, sorry for the poor people of your nation, the very same way the the seniors are being targeted right now the scam artists are taking it to a next level, all i have to say is people be smart, money do not come that easy, this is not the Publisher Clearing House where people in the USA are winning millions everyday, this is a well organized group beware

    @Lizavier4Jesus:

    Every country in the world and many people of those countries are targeted. Dominica is not an exception. Even then, it is wise that Dominicans are aware of this type of scam. They could also email copies to their families and friends all over the world.
    If Dominicans are targeted, they may not have all this money to forward to the crooks. In any case, those who access DNO from overseas are pleased to read it so that they, too, will be aware of it.
    The crooks are hoping that they can con people and they are, many times, successful.
    I recently saw a true movie of a man who was targeted. In this case he got phone calls which originated from Africa and was told that he won a substantial sum of money. He was asked to send $5,000 in order to collect the lottery. He did so. Then, the person called him again and asked him to send more and he kept calling him. His family warned him against doing this. Yet, he continued. He received absolutely nothing for the money he kept sending. In the end his family succeeded to send him to a rehabilitation center to which he agreed. It was not without coercion. When he came out of the center, he was a changed person and happier for it. He had a caring family.

    @el: having the i.p address don’t necessarily gets u to the person,,,,,,,i could buy a brand new laptop n set up a wireless network,,,i don’t need i.d to get the wireless service,,,,so i give the service provider a fake name n address n a phone # number i bought yesterday particularly for that excercise which also has a fake name,,,,,now i run my scam,,,u think u gonna get me,,,,cmon,,,,if it was that easy scammers would be out of business,,,,,now a professional scammer would have some kind of defense on their pc’s,,,,these causes a smoke screen effect if in case the f.b.i or some agency would try to access their network,,,,giving them time to see someone is tryna hack into their system n do the necessary skills to escape then its on to the next one

    People, please read carefully. This situation may have nothing to do with Dominica, but it is news information that everyone must know about. The news article said that the email message is not from a particular hit-man, but from an Internet scammer from some bank in Nigeria. That is why the FBI is mentioned.

    A few months ago I received an email message, who identified itself as Free Lotto. They told me that they were giving me a gift of $2100.00. After they explained how they worked, I decided to claim my gift. I found out that it would cost me $15.00 to claim this gift. So it decided that $15.00 is nothing if I lost it, but then probably I could get $2100.00. They asked for payment by credit card, so I paid them online with my credit card.

    Payment came out from my credit card but I never received any monetary gift. I gave up, but I accepted responsibility for being foolish. However, by the next month I had to stop being foolish as quick as I could. Because Free Lotto, where ever they were located had taken another $15.00 from my credit. When I went on the Internet to search their website, I found nothing about them except that they had been doing this to people all over the world. Imagine one person collecting $15,000.00 if they only collected $15.00 from only 1000 people every month?

    They only way people can stop that person is to ask their credit card company to cancel their credit card number and to give them a new number. But I read that some people have been stuck with that fraudulent game for more than five years, maybe because they do not know how to get out of if.
    I was lucky to get out of it after two months and the loss of $30.00, but I still say that I did a very stupid thing.

    So consider this news article a message of information to know how to get out of difficult situations without unfair penalty such as loss of large sums of money. The love of money is the root of the evil that men do to us, because they are plagued with that evil desire.

    @LMAO:

    What will they think of next? Crooks are increasing world wide. As their greed, lies, deceit and wickedness, they will ask and continue asking. They never cease to do so. The more they get it is the more they want. Money can be the root of all evil. Some people are desperate to get quick money and a lot of it without working for it.
    You are correct. He better pray and never cease praying. This goes for each and everyone one of us, for God’s protection.
    His line should be tapped in case the person telephones. Furthermore nowadays, the origin of the emails could be traced.

    This scam is so amatuerish and unprofessional that it isn’t even funny. This extortion is full of holes. First of all he asks that he meet face to face with his intended tarket, secondly he states that a ransom has been paid ,ransom are only paid whenisomeone is being held, thiird if someone has alreadfy paid him and after some time the intended target is still alive then the payee would realise that he was double crossed and in return would hire another hit man to kill the double crosser
    HA HA HA so much for these ignorant sceamers

    @mannn: what makes u think that it is only affecting Dominicans? it is affecting America too, the Nigerians are sending out these emails to everyone, They set up one day offices and send this emails out, Some people who do not know better actually believe and send them money. After 1 day they close the office, sometimes do away with the computers and start up a new office. this is not a dominica thing, they do it worldwide, EUrope, North America and even in the islands. and if u read the article you would have seen this

    “The FBI is aware of the emails and have sent out advisories over the years. The FBI warns recipients to report the matter to their local or state police, especially if the emails contain personally identifiable information about the recipient of the email.”

    The more nigerians you have in a place, the more you will see these types of scams. These people are skilled in fraudulent practices. Before I read the bottom of the email to see that this is part of the Nigerian Bank Scam, I kept thinking this is those nigerians at it again. They are flooding St.Kitts as well, and they are skilled in white collar scamming.
