Three charged for murder of Joe Costello

Costello

Three men from Wesley have been formally charged for the alleged murder of Irish national Joe Costello and police say this should  lessen the fears of foreigners on the island.

The men, Eustace Benjamin, Don Prosper, and Sillas Bruno have been charged for killing Costello on the evening of July 31 2011 at Pagua Bay Guest House in Marigot. The incident also involved an attack on Americans Rick and Alicia Davison, owners of the establishment.

The three appeared in the Roseau Magistrate’s Court this morning. The were not allowed to enter a plea as the offense is an indictable one.

Police Public Relations Officer Claude Weekes said the charge, “would assist in allaying the fears of the general public including visitors.”

The offenders had been arrested days ago and are now at Dominica State Prison on remand.

Costello, 43, managed Silks Hotel in Hatton Garden. Dominicans have been speaking out against the Pagua attack and were expressing concerns about its impact on tourism and foreign investment.

Weekes said the police department is committed to keeping citizens and foreigners safe on the island and is not willing to allow individuals to diminish peace in Dominica.

The last few yrs have seen a rash of violent crimes in our country. Sadly a very large percentage of those violent crimes are associated with the small community of Wesley. Needless to say such senseless and heartless :( crime gives pause to a lot of us who are considering returning home to invest and bring our children. I know that crimes happen everywhere. what concerns me is the lack of justice or impartial justice and lack of rehabilitation that ensues. something has to be done!!!! we must develop a forum that engages our youth. we must put a committee in place that deals with conflict resolution. violent offenders should not be put back in society without supervision. …….. concerned

I see allot of people claiming that these young men grew up in troubled homes but everyone has a conscience. No matter how troubled your life was, if you are a human being, you should have some degree of common sense to know wrong from right. Don knows first hand how it feels to have taken a life of another human being even though it was intentional or not. Didn’t Wadico have a mother and family that suffered from their lost? Doesn’t Joe have family that have lost a son, brother, uncle so senselessly? Murder is murder. Don went to church with his mother as a child. Everyone knows the ten commandment and I know that there is one that states, Thou SHALL NOT KILL!!!!!!!!!!!! God is the only Judge that hands out the ultimate sentence. I was disgusted that Don had only got seven years for murdering my cousin and release after 4. Karma is a B*tch that always comes back and bites you in the a**. I hope that the justice will be serve this time around.

Remember people for all those who are running their mouth Don has a family you all need to consider their feelings too..Remember you guys have sons, brothers, uncles, nephews, father ect..you never know what they will do and when they will do it…Please dont fight ugly with ugly if he did it he will be punished and i hope he learns from this…Who are we to judge, anybody can kill, nobody wakes up one day and just decide to take someones life…I grew up with Don in the same village and am really feeling bad that he did not learn a lesson from his first experience..Life is funny and we never know what tomorrow brings..I pray that the family of the deceased will find the courage to cope with their lost, my heart goes out to them but on the other hand Don am really feeling bad for you cause you were like a brother to me….

Thank you for that comment bro, But I believe that DON will not change if he persists in hanging out with the bad influences around him. I do believe that Christ can change anyman. Let the system takes its course. Its also fair to expect comments of condemnation boss as this is not a situation where Don and Co cuff another person in the mouth and broke a tooth ok.We must assist those among us who are weaker and more easily influenced or esle that can hit our doorsteps wherever we are in Dominica. I hope that other investors do not allow this to keep them away from the most beautiful island in the Caribbean.

My heart is hurting for you Joe, but I’ll bid farewell till I too go. Safe passage my friend. xxx

FAREWELL TO DUBLIN IN MY TEARS

Fare thee well until we meet again down by the Liffey water
I’ll bid larewell to Dublin and her streets of cobblestones
I’m going away to leave you, my friends and all the girls too
Till I return to see you farewell old Dublin town

I remember in my childhood her mountains and her wild woods
I’ve read of all her heroes in a classroom as a boy
Of Thomas Street where Emmet died, in Sackville Street they
fought with pride Of when brave Wolfe Tone did ride through dear old Dublin town

Her poets they were many and her writers they were plenty
There was Swift with all his little men and Joyce’s Molly Bloom
Our heroes they’re an unsung gang there’s Forty Coats and ‘ould
Bang Bang And Zozimus who always sang of dear old.Dublin town

And now I’m standing on the Quay, my destiny’s uncertain
Where fortunes have been lost and won with the dealing of a hand
The past it is a purple haze, the future is an untold maze
The present is another gaze at dear old Dublin Town

Trouble, I think you are a criminal or a criminal-in-progress. Why don’t you volunteer to counsel the youths you are “so concerned” of? Raising poor has little to do with committing such a voilent crime.

why does it always have to be a race issue with some people? I get the anger about other unsolved crimes but let’s not throw race at it. we are better than that. Let’s try and solve all crimes. unite, don’t tear people apart. black, white, asian, or other, we are all people and deserve to be treated as such.

I know everybody must be saying good for Don he got what he deserved and he should be given the death penalty, but I know Don more than anyone can say they know him, yea he made a mistake when he committed his first crime don’t get me wrong I’m not making excuses for him but the way I figured it could happen to anyone. If u read the story carefully we would notice that he made numerous complaints to the principal. When he came out of jail he wanted nothing more than to change his life and be a better man, by that time his mother and his siblings moved out the country leaving him homeless at the age 20 to fend for himself. He tried to get a job but because he had a conviction no where would hire him he couldn’t even get a job packing bags at the supermarket. I know a lot of people won’t agree with me but I’m 100% sure he didn’t do this. Police keep looking the real criminal is still out there. I Love You Don

    • Good Point
      August 11, 2011

Good point. If you are going to give someone a second chance, he should at least have one option to work on his redemption. In such a small island where everyone knows if you killed someone, no one will hire you in the private sector…but if the governement agrees to release him, they have a responsibility to at least provide him with a chance to get some kind of work…probably supervised by the government. Otherwise, what do you expect? The person can’t leave the island or work on the island…the only real option will be criminal by default. Too late know, the deed is done; but there is always a next time…let’s not make the same mistake again..a little tax money for a work program for criminals will cost us all less than what just happened.

Jah is not a watchman. Don Prosper should have been locked up since he brutally murdered another young man back in 2002/2003. He spent no more than 2 years (I stand corrected) in prison and was back on the streets. What do you expect from such an individual??? What about parole?? What about a system where ex-prisoners do not interact with people of questionable character as a method of curbing repeat offenses??? The system is so flawed that to begin fixing it would be a headache!! I am thankful that they got caught and I do hope that they get the maximum sentence because life is too precious and short for us to have to worry about whether we will be murdered in our yards before day break. Good work to the police and I commend the locals who played such an integral part in their capture. One love

I am happy that those three murderers were apprehended. These guys came from large troubled home. They were impoverished also. THis is no excuse for them to do what they have done. Innocent lives (also referring to the school child Don killed) was lost and others . I am calling on the Wesley people to come together and help your community. The older folks stop putting WATERMOUTH on the village . A lot of you all you do is tear the village down by speaking ill of the young people, (words are powerful) its time to unite(this one not talking to that one come to look into it you all are family)Youths repect the elderly. I love Wesley,I would have never asked to be born and grow any where else. I have traveled to many other countries and I am proud of the humble upbringing I had in Wesley. There are still a lot of great hardworking people in Wesley. Wesley has produced many successful people as well some now outside of Dominica or hold prominent positions in Roseau. Dominica needs counselling services, youth activities(i call on the parliamentary rep to advocate for these resources.(that is part of your job) I call on all Dominicans to unite. We are a small community . Let’s help make Dominica the safe place it once was. I want the old Wesley back. We use to have bible school, Fairs, Social , Belle marche, Camp, Cookouts , Go pick almonds, Mangoes Guavas. Girls and boys brigade (we would go out out the community and visit the elders. This is what community is all about . I pray for healing for my country.

Rehab in prison I hope. Some people are destined to do wrong/bad/evil, so rehab will not work on every individual. If Don as per some comments has killed before, got a light sentence and was out free, killed again, who is to say he won’t do it a third time. Lock them up “if found guilty” and throw the key I say.

  20. August 11, 2011

The sense of community in Dominica is such that anyone within this society that attempts to harm it by acts as outrageous as this really needs to think again.

Dominica is a very safe place, which for some may seem contradictory  as my friend and colleague Joe had been murdered, but this is a fact. As a society we need to build on our sense of community and support both our Government and Police force that on this tragic occasion have worked tirelessly to bring these thugs to justice.

Of course this story will not be fully over until Joe has been returned home to Ireland so that his mother can lay him to rest, Rick and Alicia have returned to the island and that the people in police custody have been convicted.

Knowing Joe as I did I think it important that as a Nation we now look to rebuild our reputation, Joe was very much in love with this island paradise and every negative word published is just another blow for our tiny country.

So, even in the light of the most tragic events we must embrace pain and burn it as fuel for our journey.

There is no education like adversity – Benjamin Disraeli

    God Bless you all.

To the lawmen of this beautiful by nature island, let be start by congratulating you, as you have done quite a fantastic job in identifying, arresting and charging these bastards.

Going further, I trust that you haven’t left any stone unturned and that with this case in particular, you’ve ensured that every I was dotted and every T crossed before preferring charges against the trio.

I trust that your case file will be completed and all bundles served well in advance of the PI or Sufficiency Hiring.

While time is of the essence and one is required to work in quick time in gathering valuable evidence, please do no rush, as we the people need a strong case taken before the courts.

Always remember that the hungry defense lawyers are standing in the slips, hoping that there are loopholes upon which to build their defense.

    • Justice and Truth

      @ tripple x

You are totally wrong. It is not because it is a white man. If it were you or a member of your family, there would also be a national outcry. Law-abiding Dominicans detest murders of any sort.
It is also the manner in which he was murdered. As Alicia stated, they were ambushed. This is also premeditated murder.
This case went to the very core of my heart and that of every fair and just Dominican world-wide, those who heard and read about it.
I reside abroad and I have informed some Dominicans who also reside in the same City as I about it. They, too, are shocked.
I will remind you that Dominicans are of mixed heritage/race. I like to use the words so-called black and so-called white. I view the latter as two different colors. I do not consider them a race.
Some of you love to say it is because people are black and/or white and are always harping on it. If you think so, it is not always so.
Joe Costello is (now ‘was’ since he expired) a human being. This should never have happened to him. Furthermore, he was only in Dominica 9 months and this happened to him. Those with loving hearts will be saddened about this and what also happened to his friends. They were out to get someone or some people.
It does not matter what the skin pigmentation. It is imperative that we treat people humanely. All are made in the image and likeness of God. We want to live, allow others to live.
There are those who love to take matters into their own hands as if they are God, the government and the Police authorities. They are also envious of the progress, success and achievements of others. What would they not do to prevent their success and to eradicate them. The Law should know this too well.
Our Lord said, Matthew 10:28 – Do not be afraid of those who kill he body but cannot kill the soul; rather, be afraid of the one who can destroy both soul and body in Gehenna – Hell.
Those who performed these heinous acts have his blood over them to eternity, the Gates of Hell.
It may be that those young men could be rehabilitated but the one who murdered him should be imprisoned for life or hanged/executed for he killed in cold blood. This is what the prosecution and defense should take into consideration, murder in cold blood and injuries and theft. All of us should know this. Let the punishment fit the crime. No excuses for them whatsoever.

a contributing factor may be the international attention that the incident with the German tourist got a few weeks ago.

I bet there are some international eyes on our government which is also a reason why they need to do proper jobs.

But I BET that this does not mean a murdered black man would have gotten less attention. No way! Our policemen are of good characters!!

    • MASA WHO
      August 11, 2011

How many “MASA Whities” in the Dominican Goverment? I don’t know of any with power. The People elect their own governement representatives in democratic Dominica, if we do not feel represented we should protest. Governement should be afraid of their people; not the other way around. Our unified voice expressed through our vote has more power that complaining about MASA days being back on this blog. If you really care about this, get off your ass, organize in your community and be a catalist for change. It’s in our hands. Maybe then $27 million might buy police protection and a decent hospital instead of a luxury palace. although its alot easier to type MASA and sit at home acting all mad about it.

I know that we all want justice to prevail and want the full arm of the law measured against these three men. However, let us now not forget that even though the situation is as it is, they are fathers, brothers, partners and children of someone. Let us remember to pray for their families, especially the mothers of the three and the spouses who are now left to fend for themselves…the children who will be without a father….Let us pray for them all…we need a better nation, a stronger people, a more spiritual generation to build our nation. Vengeance belongs to God. He will repay everyone for their wickedness. But we must be careful not to take this judgement into our own hands…God Bless our Nation.

I am not outruling praying for them. However, some of you appear not to think before you write/comment. Those men should have thought of their actions. They allowed Satan to take over their hearts.
In the part of the world I reside in there are murderers/criminals of every sort and some dangerous ones.
One set of criminals are shoplifters. Whenever I hear that people shoplift, I always say, there is no way I would do a thing like that (unless I am insane or suffer from a certain illness) and that I only go to stores and shop whenever I need an item or more. Also, there is no way I would tarnish my reputation by stealing and for the Police to arrest me and I would be imprisoned. The thought of this alone should prevent people from committing crimes/murders.
I love my freedom in the world; free to travel anywhere in the world; not having to worry if the Police is watching me. THIS IS TRUE EARTHLY FREEDOM.
I can never comprehend that people go to stores to stealand some are caught. Others will, sooner or later. Likewise what those young men have done.
Pray for them, yes. The devil took over their heart, mind and soul. If there was an instigator or more, it may be that they were promised a good pay-off to do what they did. Otherwise why would they have done that?
As it is stated the owners of the hotel were ambushed. They offered them money and they refused.
Your bleeding heart will not help them now that they are under the government and Police authorities for what they have done which has shocked the Nation and others world-wide.
There is a tendency to be empathetic to the perpetrators and not the victims which is what you have projected.
Keep in mind that Joe Costello lost his life. Whenever I see his picture and his smiling face, state his name and write about him it saddens me to know that he lost his life in such a manner.
Joe, too, has family in Ireland or wherever they may reside.
Rick and Alicia who were injured also have family. They were fortunate that they are still alive but for the Pepper Spray which Rick used on the young men that caused them to retreat and run away.
Rick is presently undergoing treatment. He and his wife also did not deserve what occurred to them. Think of this, will he recover from his injuries? I do hope so. Pray for them too.

It’s understandable how some are happy to hear the news that there are finally names to put to this inhumane crime. But for those who knew Joe, this will never replace the fact he is gone and every time they open this article and see his smiling face they know that pictures will be the only way to ever see that smile again. For many, tears have replaced the laughs that were once shared. Please don’t forget, Joe was a good man, he will be forever missed.

      @ Now for now

You are so correct! This is how it should be done. Keep them separate and interrogate them separately. They should not be allowed to communicate with each other. Have you ever watched the US Channel A & E when criminals/murderers are being interrogated?

It might be true that because the dead victim was white, he is receiving sympathy from all income levels and all ethnic groups on the island. But let’s forget about race and nationality here. This man’s life was brutally and viciously taken from him. Whoever did it or was involved should face the full extent of the law. At least, the Police seem to(and hopefully)have compelling evidence that ties these three guys to this crime. The victim is depending on all law abiding and good citizens to seek justice for him and his three friends. Hope the case is fast tracked so that there is no time to debate who gets bail, etc. If the evidence is available due to good police work, get the case moving before the evidence disappears. Otherwise, things will get worst, much worse.

I’m confused at all the posts wondering why the police apprehended the perpetrators so quickly. Didn’t the news mention that one lady was left unharmed and that she’s a Dominican. Surely she was able to describe them, maybe heard them speak, call each other by name, or even knew them. I imagine in takes a while to inflict the damage they did, and then spend more time to tie up 3 incapacitated people and 1 unharmed human, to enable a speedy getaway. Yeah! Something doesn’t sound right about that, does it? Then with the victims dead, beaten and bound instead of taking the opportunity to ransack the house, they took off (from what I’ve read) nothing more than a mobile phone, $350.00 – from the unharmed lady – and a laptop…hmmm – are they seriously expecting us to believe between 4 business people there was only one mobile phone? Wonder who’s mobile it was. Why leave an eyewitness, because she was a Dominican? Did they suddenly get patriotic and couldn’t beat one of their own?
Why waste time tying up the dead man or the two beaten ones to get a head start? Did they have a car? Did they take one of the victims cars? What EXACTLY did they get for their time and trouble – I agree there’s more to this story that meets the eye. But as I said at the beginning, they left an eyewitness which is probably why they were apprehended so quick. The rest we’ll have to wait to see unfold.

This is good news which I am elated to read that the thugs are caught and arrested. Thank God!
We cannot bring Joe Costello back, even though we wished we could but it is consoling to know that they are caught. Dominican residents can sleep a little better.
We would like to know how this occurred. Did someone tip-off the Police?
May there be no bail for those wicked and heartless young men, the latter, no doubt.
It would be interesting to know their motives and if others were involved. Were they used and promised pay-off to perform their dirty work of some people?
I do hope they will be honest and tell the truth and expose the instigator(s), if any, of these heinous crimes. Nevertheless, they are old enough to face the arms of the Dominican Law.
No bail! Life imprisonment! Execution/ hanging for whoever murdered Joe.
I am certain that Rick and Alicia were informed. Their dear friend is gone but they must be elated that the perpetrators are caught.
Rick and Alicia, I wish both of you well. When Rick is better, both of you will be welcomed back to Dominica. As always my prayers are with you. God bless! Prayers work wonders.

i think that police in dominica are the most idiotic police foce i ever come across that why some of these cases allways go down the drain becouse all them man famous for beating up people to confess that they did the crime lets take for example how the hell you telling me that investigation is going on at the same time you already charge three people with the same crim so that means that if there other people involved they could even get away so officer from the top cop to the pc investigate and then charge and stop beating up people

I would not say this about the Dominica Police. You are discriminating and making derogatory remarks. What they need is re-training and expertise.
In the past, the Police did not have to contend with such types of crimes and murders and consistently so. They may need additional know how, training and re-training to investigate those crimes/ murders. Re-training should be ongoing. These days computer systems are always upgraded and those who are employed in this capacity are consistently re-trained. So should it be with the Police Force. Life is a learning and growing process, to deal with ever-increasing incidents.

Who is ‘all you’, certainly not me. I dont care if it was a black, white or green person that was killed. The issue for me is the fact that someones life was brutally taken.

I lived in a white mans country for 40 odd years, and I never kissed any white butts. I know right from wrong, and the killing of Joe Costello was WRONG.

Vent your anger against the injustice of the system, not on colour.

Now that the police have charged the 3 individuals, they should make sure they have all the evidence, dont take short cuts, dont let anyone sway them, dont put their feet up thinking they’ve done their bit by arresting these 3, continue with their investigations. To the courts, when these guys next appear in court, NO BAIL.

Why are you so racist ?

Dominicans are simply concerned by the negative image that crime gives to DA abroad.

Tourism is VITAL for the country’s economy; you don’ seem to realise that.

If you have social or financial problems, and be so bitter, don’t put the blame on white people ; “debouillay yourself” and move your ars, man !

      August 11, 2011

calm down, mate. I am white, quite pale in fact, and when i got robbed, beaten down with cutlasses, my wife got “indecently apprehended”, police did not kiss our asses.

In fact, they did not do anything but writing a short report full of wrong details. That’s it. No investigation, no ass kissing.

sorry to challenge your view of the world. It would be a lot easier to have everything divided in right and wrong, good and bad, black and white. However, reality shows that all of us are human beings and all of us can be treated badly.

Besides: just follow DNO for a while and you will learn that lots of white folks get attacked. Then pay attention to the number of cases that end up in a charge.

Many innocent black men have been executed in the states of Mississippi, Texas and Alabama for alleged crimes they never committed. We do not want to make the same mistakes. The Commonwealth of Domimica must first prove its case. A hasty and sloppy trial will result in a successful appeal, if not a mistrial, resulting in the accused walking free and everyone will blame the police for incompetence and cover up. So chill and let the process work. Getting hysterical is not helping. Every man is innocent until proven guilty. Yes, I said it!!!

I know it’s not an ethical proposal, but I wish we could bring in a Jack Bauer character from the TV series 24 to interrogate the three suspects and find out who ordered the “HIT.” The true punishable motive and premeditation lies with the person who paid the perpetrators to kill. The motive for the three arrested thugs is probably money paid to carry out someone else’s evil wishes to get rid of the competition…it sounds very Mafia-like to me and I want the “Mob Boss” brought to justice. Otherwise the threat to foreign investors and tourist remains “out there” since that person can probably pay another 3 thugs to carry out the next hit on the competition. That hurts all Dominicans

Don has already brutally murdered someone in big high day at St. Andrews high school, and got a slap on his wrist. Let him feel it this time. Please officers get everything straight. As much as I hope these three men are indeed the criminals, it’s certainly a bit odd, to say the least, that this should be announced shortly after claiming that the police would be requesting US assistance. I can’t say more without knowing more, but, given the police force’s recent track record (the fire bombing, the almost negligent comments about phone numbers not working), it seems somewhat questionable. Whatever the case, we can only hope this violent murder was an isolated incident and not any kind of sign of things to come.

Well said I am also pleased that the leads resulted in the three been arrested and now lets wait and see what punishment the system will hand down on them, Weekes is full of it why doent he and the rest of the Police department step it up and find and bring to justice the people who decicided to wioe out Mr. Emanuel and wife. I believe that these guys pick and choose the CASES they want to persue and that is unfortunate for all of us DOMINICANS
I listen to Weekes and he’s not forth comming he shouldnt allow himself to be pushed into a box where he feels helpless he not doing much it.s about time their should be a brake already what is going on Emanuel serve his ISLAND with honour we should all be respectfull of him Weekes cannot continue blaming everthing that happen on the ISLAND on the Youth because regardless of how he look at things some of the issues are instigated by those in authority and position he should start looking at what’s going on much closer.
Can one imargin the 3 guys draw into their web of greed and murder two Villages that benefit from those businesses..

I COMMEND THE POLICE FOR APPREHENDING THESE CRIMINALS AND BRINGING THEM TO FACE THE LAW.I HOPE THE JUDISTIAL SYSTEM PUT THESE ANIMALS AWAY FOR GOOD.BY THE WAY AS AN EX POLICE OFFICER I HAD THE OPPORTUNITY TO COME IN CONTACT WITH ONE OF THE INDIVIDUALS WHO IS NOW CHARGED WITH HIS SECOND MURDER.A DEAR MOTHER LOST HER ONLY CHILD OVER A PETTY MISUNDERSTANDING BETWEEN TWO STUDENTS AT SCHOOL AND THIS GUY WAS GIVEN A SECOND CHANCE.THIS TIME HE STRIKES AGAIN.I WANDER IF HIS LAWYER WILL USE SELF DEFENSE TO DEFEND HIM THIS TIME.JUSTICE MUST TAKE ITS RIGHTFUL COURSE OR ELSE THESE INCIDENTS WILL BE REPEATED.THIS GUY SHOULD NOT HAVE BEEN BACK IN SOCIETY SO SOON AFTER TAKING THE LIFE OF A FELLOW STUDENT.THE OUTCOME OF THIS CASE SHOULD SERVE AS A MODEL FOR OTHER CRIMINALS WHO INTEND OF BREAKING THE LAW.LIFE IMPRISONMENT
THOSE GUYS SHOULD NEVER ROAM THE STREETS AGAIN.AMEN

I concure with your opinion and also say coodoes to our fellow officers in the Police Force. Thats the way we used to do it back in the Day swift and decisive get them in what ever Rat hole they try to run. They and those like them must understand there`s more of us than they have on their side.I hope those loosers will be kept 23hrs locked up and only given one hour to do whatever they have to do and let me warn our prison officers watch those loosers like a Cat watches a RAT to prevent those loosers from planing any form of escape, remember they have nothing to live for so they could care less who they take with them, place ankle braclets on those loosers or G.P.S.and lets hope it does not take eternity to put them on trial yes the rule of law must take it`s course we know thats police talk and i understand that certain procedures have to be maintained. But at the same time lets have those loosers tried A.S.P. I want some one to tell me why those loosers faces are not plastered all over the media? hope they do notargue that the defendants have not been found guilty therfore they cannot publish and post their faces for all to see we who are living outside of Dominica have every right to see those loosers and to be aware of the developments taking place back home. Once again congratulations to our officers for aprehending those loosers and while we are at it lets press them foe other likely criminal acts those loosers may have committed YES! I refer to them a “LOOSERS” LET some body count how many times I used that word cause I want to make sure D.N.O does not disqulifie my post. Keep up the good job D.N.O. I PERSONALLY THINK PRISON IS TOO GOOD FOR THOSE MURDERERS….BECAUSE THEY WILL EAT THREE MEALS, SHOWER, TO MANY PRIVILEGES, BECAUSE IN THEIR WICKED MINDS THEY MUST BE SAYING, THEY HAVE RIGHT…..NO THEY DON’T… PUT THEIR ASS IN A WIRE CAGE AT THE LA BASS IN FOND COLE….WITH A NICE COAT OF HONEY SPREAD ON T THEM….EVERY TIME THEY SCREAM…DUMP SOME BEES ON THEM….

THEN AFTER THEIR TRIAL…HANG THEIR ASS….

Hanging them is too quick and easy…Use them as an example to all others…Six months to a year of severe torture…if they need help with some torture ideas I’m sure we can come up with plenty. Make sure they wish they were dead instead of the torture then they’ll appreciate that they must respect a persons life…it was not theirs to take. AND having them up at Stockfarm is at the taxpayers expense imagine those hoteliers were paying their taxes and now it have to contribute to feeding and sheltering those Bastards!!! Leave them days without food and put them to sleep outside. Then someone will come and comment about Humanity and everyone is entitled too…Just remember they took a life and didn’t think of Humanity then…..

Thank God!! That’s the best news for the day. Good job, CDPF officers. Now, let’s make sure we get them convicted. Play them psychologically to have them confess against each other even if we have to offer a plea bargain. That could help solve other related crimes and to implicate any others who may be involved.

We need to know exactly who weilded the hatchet. That man gets the death sentence. His other accomlice gets life without parole for attempted murder of Ric and Alicia and the plea bargain gets 30 to life. If you do not offer a plea bargain in which you get a confession, I hope that the evidence is solid enough to withstand the scrutiny of the legal profession, the lawyers.

    • Anonymous

Is it possible that these charges are a reaction to the outcry for action? It just seems that this is a knee jerk reaction to make the police force appear as if they are working the right leads when in fact they are trying to cover up their missteps and even possibly people they know. On Monday there was the article on here where Alicia gave her account of the attack and it made it very clear it wasn’t a robbery gone wrong, this made the police look very inept since they had already made the bold statement that the motive was robbery. Alicia contradicted what the police were saying and it became very clear that wasn’t a good thing as that article was quickly pushed down and hidden amongst other news articles. As someone who truly wants to see justice done I hope that the investigation does continue and the authorities look deeper into things. With all the info that has been provided, there are many unanswered questions and there is still more to this story than what is being told. Joe, Alicia & Rick deserve justice and the truth. Let’s hope this isn’t just a cover up to appease the people to make them feel secure, put a band aid on the effects to tourism and to basically stop the allegations and talking. Once again I implore that they do the investigative work and give the victims, their families and friends the answers and justice we deserve!

I feel that justice should prevail and these individuals should be punished, but lets not jump and demand they be hanged without a trial. Come on we are better than that. These young men have already condemned themselves but there is still hope for the young ones. Let us take this as a wake up call and vow to raise our children better.

      • Alas Alas
        August 10, 2011

That is true. People are so quick to call for hanging when there is a white person involved. What about the other victims? Is one life worth more than the other?

      • August 10, 2011

Once a cheater is always a cheater, therefor as we all know, once a killer is always a killer, as far as i heard one of the guys killed someone’s child, we do not need them to kill three for five time, i say bring back hanging and hang them, , the law need to be reinforce in Dominica once and for all, too many killing, we do not need them tugs walking the streets anymore

Anytime one uses the word IF, it is always too late, if the repeat criminal was sentence to life behind bars, he would not be repeating his act again, enough is enough, hang them

      • I know eh!
        August 10, 2011

How can we give this person thumbs down when all the are saying is that the want justice to prevail and we as a society are better than uncivilized people. The individual even went on to say that we should bring up our children in a manner which would pave the way for a better Dominica. Do we even read before we comment? I understand the emotions flowing through our vains and was at one point as ignorant as many of my fellow bloggers, posting in the heat of the moment, until, someone, i cannot remember who exactly it was, called me an idiot etc. I could have replied blindly or i could have modified my behaviour. When i sat and thought about it, i realized how irrational i really was.
Some of these comments paint an ugly picture of our Dominica and we should carefully vet the comments before actually committing them to the blog.
