Police in Antigua investigating the murder of Dominicans Alwin Robin and Alix Riviere have charged two former policemen for unlawful possession of cocaine which was reportedly found on the murder scene.
The two have been identified as Aleigh Byer and Cosbert Sergeant who, according to reports, are custodians of the property in which 35 kilograms of the illegal drug were found along with the bodies of Riviere and Robin.
The two were granted bail in the sum of $1.2-million.
The bodies of Riviere and Robin were found on October 4 in an area call Cedar Valley. Both men were shot execution style.
Riviere was found with his hands bound and he was severely beaten while Robin was found nearby.
The cocaine was reportedly found by police when they were called to the scene of the murders.
Those who are in certain positions as the police should live exemplary lives. We would never consider that some of them are shady characters who are involved in shady businesses as drugs and murders. They are bad eggs.
Remember Dorothy Prince who was murdered by a policeman in Antigua early this year.
Sometime ago someone commented on DNO that nine Antiguan policemen were charged for crimes. It is shocking that those who are supposed to serve and protect the public and uphold the Law are its destroyers.
All due respect to the deceased and his family cause that was a miserable way to die. And he was a cool guy, and great to his employees and friends. I knew that about him. But I never forgot he was a drug man. Plain and simple. And so the amount of sympathy I have is reduced because he helped to put this poison called cocaine in the hands of young people for his own personal gain. So all those preaching praises, well maybe you didn’t know the truth. But for those of us who knew the truth its sad cause he was a guy with potential but chose to use it for wrong.
Still hoping his soul rests in whatever peace the Almighty sees fit. Not my place to judge.
Yes they are responsible but they live but the gun they die by it. So manydominican young men are now dead and mad because of the. They deserve what they get other will go the sam3. Way wrong is wrong
sad but that is the reality of our caribbean. the drug ring is bigger than DNO will ever imagine. there are many posing as middle and upper middle class involved in the drug trade including government ministers… them dominicansdone dead. they are not excused. they were iinvolved too but they dead…DEAD MAN TELL NO TAIL
“Tale”
That’s a sad ending but when you in drugs your life is in d balance too many drug dealers around messing up society the land need a purg from all dat more justice will prevail more will happen live clean avoid blood money children work hard
What makes sense is that the two cops charged oWned the house and the drugs may have belonged to them but they were absent when other drug dealers came to steal the drugs they knew that the dominicans was doing in antiqua no saint ex cop would kill people in their house leave d bodies there along with so much cocaine that’s just foolish they werte friends with d dominicans but wasnty around when the hit happened the killers are at large the antiqua police knows this but the x cops have to pay because d drugs found but dats what happens when people get into drug bisness
A wise man keeps a cool head. Since we were not there, we are just speculating. Whatever happens in the dark, must come to light. That’s why the Lord say,” be still and know that I am your Lord” Instead of speculating, we must hope for justice and start searching our own hearts. If we are not killing each other with a gun, are we gossipers, lires, stealing, taking each others husbands or wives. Sin is sin. Don’t judge too much if we were not there. Just hope for true justice for those who were killed, and sympathy for the family.
True
this is the most sensible comment i’ve heard for the day….all that glitters isn’t gold, and in life, even we are caught in a situation, it doesn’t mean that we were active participants in the said situation……let’s continue to pray for the killers to be revealed, and pure hearts among our ppl.
“Whatever happens in the dark, must come to light”?
. . . So what about the Thousands of UNSOLVED murders, worldwide. Oh there is the AfterLife . . .
Amen
Correct spelling, “liars”
Why so much praise to a noted drug dealer who destroyed the lives of so many young people and destroyed families with his product? Good riddance to Alwin. Should have been shot years ago
stupes!
why dont u go and die somewhere
One day you will die. You do not know how your life will end. Our Lord Jesus Christ said, “Judge not that you may not be judged accordingly” and two-fold.
Reading these and knowing my cousin has to be burried tomorrow is hard and painful. someone’s father, someone’s son, someone’s friend, a man who was so ambitious. Gone too soon . Rest in peace Alwin. God will give you justice.
ambitious ??????? and caught up in drug story??? allu dominicans to damn hypocrite ……HE LIVED BY D GUN HE DIE BY IT ………. GIVE JACK HIS JACKET
the good some ppl do shadow the bad they may have done, the man had a good heart despite his ‘supposed’ past, sorry mr/ms perfect if Alwin wasn’t good enough for you but for us he was a man of virtue
Did u not know that he was walking the road of death and one day it would be hard and painful for u?Did u ever ask him to stop with this blood money illicit dealings he was involved in?Instead u call him ambitious, rather than distance yourself from him.If u so the seeds of sorrow, you’ll reap tears!
“sew”
Sure made an error. This one is correct, “sow”. The English language has too many words, ‘so, sew, sow’ and whatever else, enough to cause errors.
Where there’s smoke there’s fire. Those charged for the drugs had to be the murderers. All-in-all the husband and fathers are gone they are never coming back. God do not sleep, he’s constantly watching upong us. R.I.P fellow Dominicans. Eventually your families will find justice for you.
a real Caricom affair! one police (Byer) from Barbados the other from St. Vincent, two victims from Dominica in a crime committed in Antigua
budman…. You are a genius my friend. I tip my hat to you.
i telling you i wonder if dem ppl cant see a drug trade right there …..
They knew from the beginning, they’re just holding back the information…..but again God isn’t a police!
Let all those with knowledge come forth…..when we put our knees on the ground, the truth will come forward….justice justice justice!
To those people who are quick to judge the characters of the young men who were murdered, I pray that you’re not judged or persecuted for your sins……telling a lie on someone is as bad a sin as raping etc……
God bless.
They should never speak ill of the departed. It is defamation of character whether they are living or dead. It is a grievous/mortal sin.
They should say, “There but for the grace of God go I.”
Money talk bull walk for some! The love of money is really the root of evil!So man will do anything to the point of taking a life and shedding blood for money! No respect for GOD,life and humanity!Lessons continue to be learnt, who lives by the drugs die by it!The bible says in the last days men shall be lovers of themselves, boastful ect.We see it in society from the top to bottom; An illegal prime minister, illegal police commissioner and illegal presidenbt! Therefore the nation must sink deeper in ungodliness!
…and I guess you Mr or Ms Truth will be found blameless of sin.
Some sin in one way. Others sin in another way. What is your sin? No one is perfect. All have fallen short of God’s glory. Do you think if you die suddenly you will enter Heaven? Do not be presumptuous.
omg!!! so sad to read they kill two innocent men. and still trying to frame them. The Most High don’t sleep. why some people are so cruel. this hurts my stomach. R.I.P
so who tell you the two men that were killed are innocent. they were involved in the drugs some way some how
reality……
i pray that you don’t find yourself in a similar situation, where you are innocent, but ppl like yourself will deem you guilty>>>????
life is a funny thing….a spiritual world we live in.
most d/cans posting on dno simply like to condemn others when their back yards are full of filth.
yeah they were killed but who say they were innocent?drugmen are greedy ruthless men.u live by it u die by it end of story.i’m sorry to the families but thats the life they chose.
most corrupt police force in the world…Antigua police force
Dominica is not far.
How ae they innocent they destroyed the lives of many families by the poison cocaine they feed society goes around comes around
Did you see them distribute drugs to children and others? Unless you know the full story you should refrain from such statements.
for real
One have to wonder what was their motive.Either they had a plan, or they were trying to pin a crime on somebody. Dumb(former)cops!! Envious & greedy; Now you are left with nothing, and deaths on your conscience. Anyways, rest peacefully Alwin & Alix, justice will be served.
Its sad to read that those who are expected to uphold the law are the ones who violate it. Alex was buried this morning. Alwin will be buried tomorrow. May their souls rest in peace. Many of us have been morning their loss ever since that day when the news swept through the airwaves. Those of us who knew Alix and Alwin felt the pain literally cutting through our belly like a dagger. We will shed our tears, we will pray and we will wait for the murders to reveal themselves for all to see. It wont be too long that day will come sooner than we think. Fairwell my brothers. Rest in Peace
Let us pray fervently that the truth will be revealed soon and that the murderers are caught.
If they are charged for the drugs… And not the murders… Puts me to believe that the killers did not come for Alwin and Alix… But rather the drugs and the two fellas charged
The killers knew the drugs were in the house…
Maybe Alwin was their (those charged for the drugs) friend to trust him to leave him a house with 40 Kilos of cocaine
Somebody knew everything that was going…
keep telling that to yourself.infact bury your head a little more in the sand. all them man in the same drug pot.greed causes man to do alot of heartless crimes.life dont mean a thing to these people.
I WOULD CHARGE THEM FOR MURDER AND NOT FOR THE DRUGS, NO SANE PERSON WOULD KILL TWO PEOPLE AND LEAVE THEIR DRUGS IN THE BUILDING WITH THE BODIES. TO ME THE DRUGS BELONG TO THE DEEAD
I dont think so. The drugs belonged to the ex-cops. Others were looking for the drugs, they didnt know about it, they were killed to send a message to the care takers of the house.
A lie detector test should do it.
xpected
The article says former police officers
that was easy. don”t sound right to me.
If the police have solid evidence then a conviction is possible, if not, then not just because one is a custodian of a premises means that they own whatever property is inside, although circumstances may prove different. It’s a very sensitive case but, I’ll wait for the results.
well well well, justice must come to pass!
I hope the murderers are caught, they are charged for drugs and not the murder Hmmm
if you dont have much to say dont make stupid comments and always read your comment before posting.
i argree with u it should not be a crime to kill a drug dealler people calling them husband and father and what not but those 2 were drug dealers and thats the botom line they got what god had in store for them all drug dealers will end up getting this one after the other for the lives of our youth that they destroy with there trade
ME…..if you can safely say and prove that Alex was a drug dealer, then I will give you everything i own and worked hard for….because this would mean i am also a drug dealer too, since i have friends who are alleged into drugs, some are smokers, some are drinking alcohol, some take others’ wives, tell lies, etc.
your time is coming, just you wait….if you continue to cast judgement on innocent and hardworking young men like Alex…..then again, most probably, you knew nothing about this guy, how he struggled to survive under sun and rain, and despised anything illegal.
why don’t you think down the line of him being at the wrong place at the wrong time, thus hearing what he most probably shouldn’t have heard; thus the reason for his abduction?
but the again, you’re so quick to judge, that you most probably do not have the analytical skills and basic common sense to come to a reasonable conclusion based on the situation as it is presented to you, and the limited facts available.
I just came from Alex funeral… very sorrowful>> DNO needs to know that the men were further charged for the murder.. 12..noon today.. That is breaking news..
Thanks for the info
Well, well, well! I am happy to hear that. Prayers and excellent, swift investigation win. As usual, such types will say they are not guilty.
I took a keen interest in this case because they were Dominicans who were murdered and viciously. No matter what, no one should have to go through this. No one has a right to murder others.
the MEN were NOT charged for murder. stop making up stories
I never heard they were charged with the murder either. I live right here in Antigua.
Happy dominican!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!thank u lord JUSTICE JUSTICE JUSTICE
I am trying to make sense of this. This is one convoluted affair. There must have been some double crossing among these drug dealers. It seem to me that this house did not only have coccaine and it seem like the killers prefered the cash.Somebody new that this house was the house of the rising sun for coke dealers – could it be some active COPS who knew the vibes and was just interested in the money. The EX COPS may know the killers. My suspicion is that the killers knew that a deal was going down. The DVD dude propably was suppose to do the purchase and had the money. The murder victims also may have known the killers.
The fact that the killers wanted no part of the coccaine tells me that the killers are either in Antigua or they might have been visitors who just came in to do there business and get out- possibly via the airport.
I am no Perry Mason just shooting hot air cause this case is really mysterious(lol)
No surprise eh! Whatever takes place in the drk,
we’ll know ’bout in broad daylight.
People, I recommend Chinua Achebe’s ground-breaking thesis, “Things Fall Apart, to get some perspective of our community, especially the Black community.
yes yes great book. changed my life forever
hhhmmmmmm is that a way to get them to talk… about the crime… bear in mind they haven’t been charged for the murder… but has to be charged for the drugs since they were found in the home that they are custodians to…..
:cry:The ones that take vows to fight against crimes and to help people are the ones who are more involved in this wickness of today. Lord every where we turn tere seems to have someting going wrong. lETS WORK TOGETHER IN PRAYER TO EAL OUR NATIONS>
SORRY KEYS WAS STICKING.lORD EVERYWHERE WE TURN SOMETHING SEEMS TO BE GOING WRONG.Lets work together in pray to heal our nations.
No apology needed hun we know what you mean.
donkey the news said EX cops…
I really do hope that the pepetrators of this most heinous crime are caught, tried and found guilty; only then will the families be able to rest more comfortably.
Ok so they charged for cocaine. Who killed them. Are they not responsible.
So what about the murders, are they responsible for this too?
