Forty-six-year -old Elizabeth Nelson of Gutter Village and proprietor of Today’s Pharmacy, Edmond Severin, have been jointly charged in connection with an investigation into the discovery of a fetus in the community.
Police Public Relations Officer, Inspector John Carbon, told Dominica News Online on Tuesday that the two individuals were charged for procuring a miscarriage in other words “causing an abortion.”
Carbon added that the act of abortion is against the law in Dominica.
It is alleged that Severin sold and administered medication to Nelson which resulted in the abortion.
The 20-week-old fetus was found in a drain in Gutter on July 9th, 2013.
Nelson was admitted to the Princess Margaret Hospital for treatment and was later detained by Police.
The two will appear before a Roseau Magistrate today.

Abortion is a woman’s choice. As a man I have no say in the matter. This particular case is gruesome and disgusting because of the way she did it. She is not a teenager, at 46 years old to abort the child in that manner is what seems shocking to us all.

That–along with a desire not to have any more children at that age–might have influenced her decision.
Rather than condemn the lady, change the law.
Abortion should be made legal. It should be a matter between a woman and her doctor.
Why should a woman be forced to carry a child if she does not so wish; is raped; her life is endangered; or for economic reasons.

Hello and good evening my people. Well I suspect that Inspector Carbon is misinforming the public because no one performed an abortion on Ms Nelson. I suspect that the pharmacist Mr Severin gave Ms Nelson RU-9 which cause her to have a miscarriage and she didn’t provide him with a prescription from a Doctor. That’s why they wasn’t charged with Murder, Manslaughter or Criminal Negligence Homicide. We must also remember that the medical Examiner hasn’t release the autopsy results so we don’t know if the fetus was alive when she had the miscarriage . Now they will also have to prove that Mr Severin knew that Ms Nelson was twenty or more weeks pregnant when he gave her RU-9. I see two arrest that isn’t going anywhere and I suspect that Mr Severin license will be suspended for about six months.

The State of Texas, USA just passed a law making it illegal to abort a fetus at 20 weeks a lot of pro abortion people were protesting in the State assembly trying to block the law but it was passed and signed into law by the governor.
