Residents of Castle Bruce woke up this morning (Tuesday) to the shocking news of what appears to be an overnight killing in their community.
Police have identify the victim as 74-year-old Julius Joseph, better known as Editor of Castle Bruce.
Police PRO, Inspector John Carbon, said Joseph’s body was found around 5:45 am on Tuesday lying motionless on the Castle Bruce public road in the vicinity of his house.
Inspector Carbon said there were wounds to Joseph’s chest and back and he was pronounced dead on the scene by a district medical officer.
The body was transported to the Princess Margaret Hospital mortuary pending a post mortem examination.
A coroner’s inquest will be convened and investigations are continuing, Inspector Carbon said.
Cousin Editor is gone now:( Oh! how SAD, but for those of us who are left according to the scripture (Be he ready for in such an hour as you think NOT the Son of Man cometh)
This is my cousin, I am also from Castle Bruce. I think this is an aweful situation. I also think this is not the time to be bashing each other. we should really be forcused on more prayer for the people of Dominica, and the family. We know these are end of times, and we need to get our hearts and minds in order.
I used to speak to you everyday I would see you when am going home or coming from my home. You were truly a good man and very warm and friendly. I am still in shock right now. R.I.P family…God will take care of the one(s) responsible
RIP UNCLE J.J
It hurts that yet another national is murdered. Just when I think that all is quiet in DA, I read of this sad news. All nationals should mourn that yet another national, one of theirs has been murdered. For God’s sake he was 74 years of age! Why did you, the murderer, not allow him to spend the rest of his days in peace? Even though you are caught and I hope you will, God will get you for that in his time.
My heartfelt sympathy to his family. Keep up the faith in God knowing that Our Lord Jesus Christ said, “Vengeance is Mine. I will repay.”
May his soul rest in peace. Amen.

Ok this is getting a bit ridiculous now. Crime needs to be seriously addressed. We are too small of an island for crime to be occurring so frequently!!!! Stuff gets on trip advisor and other tourism websites about Da. I came accross a website the other day which had Dca as # 24 in world of countries with highest crime per capita last yr. In other words our island is too small for all this crime! This affects tourism, the economy, the people, the country as a whole!pi So stop the madness! We used to be one of the safest places to visit in the world! What is up with all this sensless crime! And what are we going to do about it!?!
when behanzin was dere cime had cease for awile. GET HIM BACK.
This man was a loving, caring, kind and funny and I still can’t believe that he is really gone RIP grandpa we are really going to miss u and I pray and hope that the police finds out who did this to my grandfather
The death penalty?
Since Dominica become flooded with all these lawyers, crime has become a joke for these criminals. You know why? Because they can always get these blood sucking money hawks to defend them. How else would they make their money and survive in a small Island like Dominica? That’s why the government should bring back the death penalty.
Some comments are really not worth posting nor reading. A crime was committed, the victim’s family are grieving. A simple word of sympathy should suffice.
May the victim’s soul Rest In Peace, and may the perpetrator be brought to justice. We do have LAWS, it may not be what we expect but justice will prevail.
This is a very sad time for our family so some of you spectators need to know your places. Do any of you call every family member twice a day? morning and evening checking on everyone in case of situations like these? the family is spread all across the world, some with very hectic lives. Family is family and the love is always there no matter how often we speak or see each other. Please don’t intrude at a time like this with your silly comments, thank you.
that’s a sad story man.
my pander called me thirst thing this morning n said man my grandfather was killed this morning in castle Bruce. my boy hermit junior bannis took this hard to heart. to him n the fam I extend my condolences.
RIP.
As Dominicans most of us know Andrew and the Armour family. We love them and we respect them. Most of the families are entrepreneurs and create employment for a lot of Dominicans. We are all saddened by the tragic accident. But remember the victim was a daughter. She had a father, a mother and maybe brothers and sisters, So where as we demonstrate our support for Andrew we have to show some empathy for the family who lost a daughter. And we must take into consideration the the young lady was an American where culture and traditions are different. If this accident had occurred in America, the captain of the boat would have been arrested and there would have been lawsuits. So its not surprising that an American family is making similar demands on the Dominican authorities. This is a very serious case and I hope Andrew can get in touch with his cousin Reginald Armour Jr in Trinidad for some guidance and assistance, no disrespect to Mrs Dyer.
Dominica is really getting scary. Every day is another gruesome murder. A 74 year old man, magwasah!
Hope THEM talk-show hosts are seeing the result of their CURSE they have contaminated Dominica with.
what kind of BULL talk that
True say . This is as a result of all the curses levelled on the Nation by those vagabonds on the Haters Talk Shows. One of those days God himself will strike all of all you down. Those. haters on Q
SILLY
I cannot tell my friends to come visit Dominica its a peaceful heaven not anymore when it happen so close to home my uncle was a loving man always willing to help us when we arrive home to visit, I will see to it that whoever committed this hiddeous crime will get the maxium for rubbing a innocent man like uncle editor of his life
Dominica is a peaceful habitat. One bad apple do not always spoil the whole bunch. Sorry for the way your uncle lost his life. That is not an excuse to tell your friends not to visit Dominica. Are your friends country, wherever they originated, FREE OF CRIME?
we not missing your friend.both you and your friend can stay in all you crime infested america.(shate man)
We have failed to adhere to the greatest commandment, which is “Love Thy Neighbor As Thyself,” instead we are very envious of each other. We are filled with hate and anger, hence, the increased crimes. We can only take measures to alleviate the problem, realistically, it wont be keradicated. We must stop the blame game, instead, work in collaboration to tackle the ills of society. The court needs to penalize the perpetrators severely in order to deter such heinous actions. To the family of the deceased, may you find comfort in the Almighty!
I condemn all killings for whatever reason. No one has a right to take anyone’s life. However when these things happen don’t turn them into politics. Seek ways in which we all can put our efforts together to remedy the situation. In this case, help the police to help us. Say what you know. It may be mine or yours tommorrow. R.I.P sir. my deepest condolence to the family.
Well until they bring back the death penalty.(HANGING) It is only going to get worse. I met mr Joseph once, and he was such a funny, happy man. I laughed from the moment I was introduced to him, till I left him. It left me a lasting memory. May your soul rest in peace. To all his children and family members BE STRONG
truly my uncle. always wanted to see everybody happy and smiling
“No Law not even the Constitution”, that has left, a subliminal message in the minds of most of the people, especially those who don’t have much regard for the law, Dominican’s we live in a lawless country, in the minds of most of our citizens ,just observe, how people park, in Roseau, and tell me, if the common man has any regards for the LAWS of the land.
and your great usa where they cout among the most violent and lawless in the “diveloped” world any better? coming on here with a name like usa to bad mouth dominica.
USA is correct. I reside in Canada. It is strange with all the crimes/murders which occur here I feel safer here than if I were in Dominica. Reason is Dominica is a small country where everyone should love and care for each other. Some of them are really lawless which means they defy the Law. They appear not to be afraid of the police officers. Such people care not about the Law and general regulations. They need to be trained in all forms of courtesy for their fellow people.
Never in our lifetime spent in DA were there so many murders and other crimes and some big-time ones. Dominica, at that time, was devoid of murders and such crimes. It is a severe problem. Something has to be done to teach people that lives are precious, given to us by God. Therefore we must do all we can to preserve it. Only yesterday I heard on U.S. Catholic Radio that, “A violation against a human life is a violation against God.”
Those who murder do not give it a thought that they stand a good chance of going to Hell for we should know the Fifth Commandment of God: Thou Shalt Not Kill.”
The devil has the souls of those who murder and harm another in whatever manner, our brother and sister in Jesus Christ.
so sad, that man was a joker, wish they find the killer as soon as possible.may his soul rest in peace.
I was informed that young boys are holding their peers and beating them up in town demanding cash from them and taking their cell phones it happened to about five young boys in town the night of the jam on bay front for the end of school/college. Can you imagine that the police is ineffective in dealing with such crime from small criminals in the making, allowing this to continue at every young people’s gathering. parents wake up and start the protest for a kinder generation.
looking 2, you do mean “parents wake up and start the training (not protest) for a kinder generation.”
Let us stop blaming others. Police cannot be everywhere and in everyone’s mind. They do not have all-seeing eyes. Like every other human being, a crime can be carried right next to them and they not see. The crime can even be committed against them.
We the parents must face up to the responsibilities of training our children. police cannot do that. The men and women who leave/abandon their children to their own devices or show them bad examples are creating the hooligans among us directly or indirectly. Not Skerrit nor police doing that.
Is migration also part of the problem as a lot of kids are left with their grand parents (some too old and tired to be enforcer) while parents have migrated in search of jobs.
Why wasn’t that reported by the police p.r.o.? Why do we have to learn about this from A DNO blogger?
Boy, I’m hoping all your carpet is big enogh at police headquarters to hide all the dirt.
Are you sure this was even reported to the police at all? Boy I’m hoping your brain is big enough to absorb the import of my question to you.
pray and stop those talk shows
what a senseless statement!
You were a friend and a father figure to me Paps. Very warm, loving and funny, that’s you Paps. You did your best to put a smile on my face whenever we meet. You will forever be loved and remembered.
Am so shock to read such bad news this is my uncle he have lkts lf family who love him why was this posted before the immediate family was notified u dominica news media have to be more sensitive careful of how u post news
bul u talking…if u were in contact with ur family u would have known before DNO..retard!!
We are in contact with the family but we all work have our own lives this hit airways before the entire families was fully contacted so please do not be too stupid whoever small minded people
how are they suppose to know if the immediate family knew or not?
How close of a relative were you then. Thanks to DNO you found out. He could have been buried and you did not know.
When things happen to all u family is when we knowing all is family. All of a sudden all u know all the laws that were broken. When last u talk to de man?Last year or year before when u came down for carnival?Stupes!!!
Family when they die for their name to be on death announcement………they didn’t know if he was alive or if he had bread but now MY FAMILY like Bajans say they make my butt laugh….
i can not understand that…if it wasn’t for DNO… the man would have probably been buried before they found out…be happy you found out GEEZZZ -_-
They want to be the first to report good or bad news. That’s a shame when family members read of something happening to their loved ones online before them being informed privately
May his soul rest in peace. We as his family will be strong, but, we bear in my that it is appointed unto man once to die. No matter how sad this tragedy may be, it is a call for us to be closer to God. Be comforted my family and friends.
well the killing will not stop.u wanna know why?cause killers dont get prison they only send them on a vacation 4 couple yrs.that’s y .
or couple months, or they don’t go atall!!!
I think the govt must reinstate the death penalty so that the killers and criminal can get a dose of their own medicine cause when they get into the prison they re just eating tax payers money ,play games, watch tv but a family is left in pain. Its time dominica govt start showing actions
My favourite Uncle! such a kind hearted man. May your soul rest in peace. Love you always. Revenge is the Lords….may he bring peace and calm to our family
Jackie be comforted in the Lord my dear. In 2 chronicles 20, it reminds us that no matter the multitude of our enemies, the Lord reassures us that the battle is not ours, but God’s. Hold on and encourage each other
My condolences to you and family.Be strong.
Dominicans keep casting a blind eye and the Pretence
Reality is hitting Dominica head on.
Once a nation becomes a double standard Society Allowing things to be swept under the carpet.
It will bear the Fruit of DOOM.
That’s the—Dominica Today!
May his soud R.I.P. may God give the family strength.
The article states “what APPEARS to be an overnight killing”. It is not yet confirmed whether it was a criminal act or accidental death.
When is this killing each other is going to stop. God please help find the person who killed this man. My heartfelt sympathy for the family. May his soul rest in peace.
Not only should they find the person who killed him but that they also find the person who killed Mr. Telie. Remember?
God will cleanse us with a major event and den we will unite.
cim par fees
may hisoulrestinpeace
I guess life is not priceless in Dominica anymore? May your soul R.I.P young man.
Too many murders taking place in our sweet dominica right now. We need to enforce strict laws for persons comitting murders. Introduce the death sentence.
To Lazo, Dr. Cuthbert Joseph, Eusebe Roberts (Former National Basketball Player), Gregoire and the rest of Mrs. Isay family my deepest condolences. God is not a Bajan policeman so rest assured that “if” there is foul-play justice will find a way. Castle Bruce does not deserve such bad image.
RIP Edictor, RIP.
Assertive, NOT Agressive!
RIp to the deceased..I hope they find out who did that
The killer needs to be found. We need to stop hiding those criminals/murderers.Up to this time the killer is still out there. The one who killed Hilary Jno-Finn.It still hurts to know this person is still out there enjoying freedom while the man”s family still hurting. He was a very funny person too.Rest in Peace A-lie.
Hope the killer who took the life of the young man from Pix Pax will be brought to justice. It is so sad that these young children had to lose their dad in such a wicked manner.
Dominica is crying for Justice.
This country needs healing and deliverance. We all know that, when we forget God, Satan will rule and sin will cover the land, and this is what taking place in Dominica today, we need to plead the Mighty Blood of Jesus over Satan in other to regain our country
thats my uncle
sorry to hear…accept my sympathy
funny since labour coming in power crime and murder and bare sufferation gone up.#foodforthought
why politics have to be involve in the wicked act people are doing.
Since all these deportes are coming home like flies they carry their criminal ways in their carry on and we don’t have the capacity to handle this wave of crimes some police officers need to back to school because the C.I.D need improvement
what labour have to do with a senceless crime stop this foolishness leave politics out of that
That’s my Dominica today! The land where might is right!
what is happning to dominica now ,we never use to have all this murder .this people need to stop now cause we don,t want our country to be a blood shed country like jamaica ,please let us christian pray and cover this contry wih the blood of jesus lord please protect us
Righteousness exalts a nation but sin is a reproach to any people.
DNO news quote: “Residents of Castle Bruce woke up this morning (Tuesday) to the shocking news of what appears to be an overnight killing in their community.”
Did the police confirm that to you? What if it’s not? We must choose our words carefully when reporting.
Lawless country. Hope they find out who is doing those things. How come I haven’t heard a piece of news on the lady who get beat up and almost murdered in Roseau on Friday????
Because the police is following the same line as GIS now. Everything is rosy in Roosevelt’s garden.
I agree with part of your blog. But our country is not lawless. Do u know what percentage of crimes go unsolved in the first world? Stop bashing your own country.
As Julius Timothy said, Dominica is a third world country. Not I who said that but a Hon. Minister of Govt. Our murder rate is higher than the U.S.A. for a start.
first world crime percentage is their business our rise in crime in ours. is it ok then just because they have more crime?
@ ju…. This is very sad and my heratfelt sympathy to his family……..but we need to stop crying down our country for real…… How many other islands or countries do u hear the citizens cry their country down like us? Give Dominica a break man!!!!! Let’s all play our part in fighting crime and build our nation.
What happened???
Lord jesus cover dominica under your blood jesus we nEed you more than ever heal our nation lord jesus
AMEN! I come in agreement
Amen!! but the person that dislike that is a TROLL

Yes sah… so ppl jus killing people jus like that.. Life aint valuable nomore.
Omg when is this killing going to stop
Another killing again!!! What’s dominica coming to nuh? The justice system needs to wake up. Enforce the laws.
You really think thats the problem? I guess they aren’t enforcing the laws in the USA.
How is enforcing the law going to stop crime? All it can do is see that justice is done AFTER the crime is committed.
papamet ki sa akor
…. Anywho sad and disappointing news in the country RIP to the deceased what ever the circumstances surrounding the information
