The police have commenced investigations into a suspected arson/suicide in Belles involving a French national.
Police PRO, Acting Inspector Pellam Jno Baptiste, said the incident occurred at around 11:oo am on Thursday, August 11, 2016.
He said police responded to information which resulted in the discovery of the lifeless body of Freddie Rivierre, 58, hanging by his neck from a wooden cross beam in the restaurant area of a business place called Liberty Jungle.
He stated that two fully contained cottages on the property were completely destroyed by fire.
Rivierre was transported to the St. Joseph Health Center where he was officially pronounced dead by a medical doctor.
A coroner’s inquest will be convened and investigations are ongoing.

A PERSON decides to cut is life short,,does not entice you to insult or be nasty to each other.YOU can take your own life if you suffer from an incurable diseases, failure in life, plans did not come together. If you decide to take your own life, why do you burn your property?because it could be the cause leading to the suicide,or why not leave the property so that they can use it for funeral expenses? If you decide to take your own life and nobody else is to be blame, what is so wrong about that. We don’t investigate the dead but the property.

The police has much investigating to do. Was he responsible or was someone else? Obviously something terrible occurred prior to this atrocious action which involved the death of a man found hanging.
I am sorry such an incident occurred with a loss of a life in this abnormal manner. How sad and hurtful it is for those who knew him especially his family. This is obviously inconsolable to them. It really is difficult to offer proper condolence especially in such a case. Nevertheless we must.

When situations like that happen some of us speculate a lot without knowing the facts. We all go through our struggles but we also have to remember not all of us are strong and can deal with certain situations without crumbling…. regardless may his soul find eternal peace.
Life is tough. We really do not know what will occur to us in the future. If so far we are OK be it through thick and thin, we should keep in mind the old adage: “There but for the grace of God go I.”

Oh boy! My only problem is, of late the Skerrit Police Force has not been competent and have been doing a very bad job in investigating because they put protecting their boy ahead of public interests. I mean, here are some crimes they supposed to have investigated and we have heard nothing about:
1. The 2010 fire bombing of GON Emmanuel?
2. The building that was on fire at the airport just during the 2014 elections, in which Skerrit said in public that he knew who did it?
3. The disappearance of the registry keys?
4. The masked men that raided the office of the DPP?
5. The leaked written confession of a minor to the police concerning alleged sexual misconduct?
6. The alleged Arson re the point Mitchel Catholic Church?
7. The alleged disappearance of children’s money in the Morne Jaune area?
All of these crimes, plus more, were supposed to have been investigated by our police, and so far no arrest, no demotion, no one was fired. We have heard of promotion. I can’t trust…
What about the countless murders in Wesley and the young lady Valencia Winston from Wesley who lived in Roseau, Who was beaten to death by her children’s father. He ran to St. Lucia and nothing after that. Not even a birth certificate has been issued for her. There is no record of her death and there is no case in the courts of Dominica. Do not worry. God has taken count of all. One day they will all receive his judgment. As the saying, one can run but cannot hide; not from God. They better start quaking in their shoes.
God knows and reads hearts. A simple God forgive and The Sinners’ Prayer will be insufficient. Any Act of Contrition must be done with a fervent desire of amendment; never to sin again and to do good.
While life lasts, it must be made with a humble and contrite heart, in worship, prayer, good works in Jesus Name, penance, sacrifice and fasting as a means of restitution in order to appease God.
These are the conditions as Our Lord said: “Only those who do the Will of His (Our) Heavenly Father will enter His Kingdom.” This is also contained in the Ten Commandments and The Beatitudes.

I totally agree with this person.Too many cold cases in Dominica. Every case which should be supposedly “investigated” goes dormant. We are yet to hear about Nelly Stharre’s case as well. Dominica was voted #1 in unsolved cases. What a shame.
Those who reside in bigger countries know too well there are many cold cases. The police cannot solve everything. They also need the help of nationals, wherever they reside, those who know something about them. Some people protect the perpetrators.
Therefore, do not blame the police. Some cases are difficult to solve. They do what they can. At least I hope so. We should pray that they are solved. As I stated, God knows the perpetrators. In time He will deal with them.

I have considered when we die and on Judgment Day, God has a lot of judging some people. I always pray that God will assist me to do as good as I possibly could so that I do not face that judgment and escape from it for it will be Hell for those who did not do good.

This is distressing. He could not cope with his troubles. Some people become weak of spirit and give up too quickly. This was his way of getting back at those he was angry with. Prior to doing something as this, first think. Even take a vacation, if it is possible, to clear the head.
Our Lord Jesus Christ said: “In this world you will have troubles. Take heart, I have conquered the world.” There is no burden we experience that He will not help us with when we turn to him. I can tell you Our Lord will help you fight your burdens and you will become victorious, putting your enemies, etc. to shame. He is faithful. He never fails.
Life is worth living despite problems. Today we experience problems, tomorrow it is gone and we can smile again. Is it worth committing harm as this, also to oneself by committing suicide and enter into your eternal judgment? Your life on earth is gone; never to return. I pray God had mercy on his soul.

First, one must be a believer. Then again, a few years ago I heard of a man who was active in the Church who committed suicide.
Even though they go to Church and pray, they must have very strong faith, hope and trust in God to withstand certain problems. Let us just say if people have problems, it is difficult for them. They may feel they cannot be solved and that there is no end to them.
Keep in mind what Our Lord said: “Apart from Me you can do nothing.”
I do feel, when one is experiencing extreme problems, the best thing to do is to pray and also to walk away from the situation, at least for a while, to think and clear one’s head. However, people do not all react in the same way.
