Dominica News Online has been informed that the Portsmouth woman who was reported missing on Nov 6, was found dead at about 8:30 on Saturday morning.
According to our source the partly decomposed body was found on the beach in Lagoon, Portsmouth by a member of a group of Portsmouth residents who had been searching for the missing woman.
Police had identified her as 34-year-old Gloria Celestine of Lagoon Portsmouth while issuing a call on Friday on the public’s assistance in locating the missing woman.
Police PRO Inspector John Carbon, in a release, had said that the woman was last seen about 2:40 am on November 6 at Memory Lane Disco in Portsmouth.
At the time, she was wearing a blue vest and blue short jeans pants.
Celestine, it was reported, was about 5 feet 2 inches tall and wore dread locks.

as a Dominican living in Antigua, i am a member of the police force here and to think you can blame a police or the police force on a whole for things that happen isnt fair. there are plenty men and women out there being abused or threatened by there other halves and they never report it. so how can a police know. in order for a police to operate there must be information and if none is feed no action can be taken. its time we as people speak up when something is going wrong or tell someone. its sad what happened to this woman. real sad but i am counting on you Dominicans living in the area and have information to speak out cause today is her tomorrow might be you.

First of all Gloria was found in a mans yard on his pavement close to the beach…his yard is well fence up…she wasn’t found on the beach it self …so those news reporters has to get there story straight…they making it sound like she was been washed up by the sea. You could see her through his burgler bars gate…and all those negative talks wasn’t call for.The young mother o f four is dead..all we can do is pray that they get who killed her..lord help us..so sad..we need prayers..

DNO get your story straight. The girl was not found on the beach. You giving the impression the sea washed her up.I saw her with my own eyes. She was found on the side of a house near the beach behind an iron gate. . It just hurts my heart that young kids are left without a mother. Gloria didn’t deserve this at all.
If a heartless monster killed this woman and took her away from her kids don’t worry the tears they shed will be on them. My heart goes to the children and the rest of the family. May she RIP. Oh my God what a sad momment for her kid. Lord help them.
God hears their cry. He is saddened at what happened to her and for her grieving children and other members of their family. He will deal with the murderer(s) in time. They will not escape from his fair justice. They will regret the day they were ever born.
The police have a rule to play but they just can’t do everything. The community should do their part also by doing group searching for this woman. Let’s believe that she’s ok do it for her children. Don’t let another disappearing act happens to an other innocent person.

Sorry to read that she is was murdered, condolences goes out to her family. Some one knows who did it, please report it, expose them, for other citizens to be safe on our roads. It could be your daughter, sister or even your mother next. Help the police capture that murdered.

This is sad news that yet another Portsmouth resident whereabouts is unknown. What has occurred to her? Hope she is OK.
It appears Portsmouth is in dire need of serious minded police who will take their responsibility seriously. She disappeared since November 6th. It is now a month and only now this sad news is made public to the Media?
A lot of time has elapsed. When was she reported missing to the police? What was the Portsmouth police doing during this 30 day span? Was an investigation conducted then by speaking to the owner of the place where she was, including those who saw her that night and in the early hours of the morning, people whom she may have spoken to? Who was she with then and whom she left with?
She may have left the area with someone whether it is voluntary or not. Someone knows something. Why that long lull? Those who know what may have occurred to her please come forward and speak confidentially to the Police.
Her children are obviously affected by her disappearance. Consider their anxiety. I hope they are residing with someone responsible and are receiving support and counseling. I hope she is found safely.
May God assist them and strengthen them including other members of their family.
I still hope she is safe and sound and that she will return home soon.

Portsmouth again. Over the years a number of people from Possie disappeared – none of them solved. That is the reason why I fear for Ms Celestine. There are also reports of murders – brutal murders too – like Ma Daisy. Something is happening in that area. The police need to step up on their watch and let their presence be felt.
On the other hand- how old are her children? What the heck is she doing in jam at 2.40 am with 5 children at home? I do not want to be judgmental but please. Maybe totally unrelated, but there is a young lady with dreadlocks ( a bit longer than what is in the pic) but of the same height who has been seen walking the streets around sylvania and pondcasse. Motorists have to sway because she does not budge. she needs mental attention possibly

Those who observed this woman on the road should telephone the police.
Anything is possible, but how did she get there? If she is the person police is looking for, this is worth investigating. I hope the police has already gotten that information and start checking the streets of that area.

This is a manifestation of years of neglect of Portsmouth. It is a long time now that social ills have been creeping into that town and no one seem to care….drugs, prostitution, murder in broad day light and raping,laziness, disappearance of people. You name its…Possie has it. Where are the leaders? All engrossed in politics or in making money? Turning a blind eye to criminal behavior? Portsmouth has the most job opportunities but …something seems to be wrong…so many signs of neglect….Time to wake up from your slumber and go back to basics of caring for each other. Condemn wrong when you see it….don’t cover up because of who is doing it.

People do have information. Maybe you are right, if she left on her own free will, and some people do, people would not know her whereabouts. Sometimes people disappear and no one is involved. I think coming from the club at that hour, she could be tipsy, anything is possible.

I am beginning to be ashamed of my own hometown. This is rapidly becoming a nasty little town where no one cares about anything or anyone but expect others to care about them when their time comes. Everybody seem to think that keeping their mouths shut makes them advanced and is a sign of development. What a shame, what disgust.
Do not blame them. They may be afraid of speaking up. Fear for their well being could cause that. Unless the police could convince them and guarantee them that they will come to no harm, they may keep silent. If they know something, when they report matters as this to the police, it should be held in strict confidence especially during the investigation. Does Dominica and Portsmouth for that matter have such law enforcement who could handle the information which they provide professionally and keep it confidential?
