UPDATE: One in custody in Andy Carbon incident

Carbon was found dead on Friday morning

One man is in custody in relation to the discovery of the body of Andy Carbon, 32, on the Bay Front in Roseau on Friday morning.

The police said the man is assisting in their investigation in the matter.

They said he could assist in other murder investigations.

Carbon’s body was found lying face down in a pool of blood at around 4:10 am on Friday on the seawall on the Bay Front.

The police have deemed the incident a suspected homicide.

Head of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) Superintendent Davidson Valerie said it appears Carbon was struck in the head while sleeping.

“He appeared to have sustained a cut to the left ear and abrasion to the upper cheek,” he said. “There was a trail of blood on both sides of the wall and a concrete slab was found next to the deceased.”

He stated the man in custody is from Roseau.

Police Chief Daniel Carbon said the police “have made tremendous strides” with the suspect in relation to the Andy Carbon incident.

“It is very likely that the suspect will be charged very soon,” he stated.

Andy Carbon was well known in the streets of Roseau.

He made headlines recently when he suffered burns to his back after hot water was allegedly thrown on him outside a restaurant in Roseau.

The matter was dismissed by the court in June.

Soon after that, he was involved in an accident on the Canefield Highway.

Another reason why the vagrants need to be in their own institution.

Where is the justice in Dominica. Where are all the advocates who are pretending to fight for justice. The man was burnt. Now he was killed. He will never get justice because he was not an important person.
It reminds me of the 3 young men who were burnt during carnival. The government brought foreign investigators to help solve the crime but no one came forward to give evidence, NOT EVEN THEIR OWN BROTHERS were seeking justice for them. Today those brothers are pretending to be advocates of justice.
Timothy killed in 1979 Mayhem Day, but not even a criminal investigation.

Shame on anyone who ever asked that poor boy to do a push-up for money. He Was not a clown put on this earth to entertain you. He was a Dominican less fortunate than most who deserved love and compassion and medical care. Let this be a wake up call for society to have more love for their brothers and sisters before they end up just so.

Rest in Peace Andy Carbon. You have left this wicked world and will be in a better place.

    The perpetrator will suffer

Oh Dominica, your people have become so wicked and insensitive it hurts to the core. Justice seems to only favor those who are politically connected and rich. The poor and down trodden have become pawns for exchange in a land where hope is a cursed word these days. RIP Andy but those who saw it fit to destroy you for whatever reason will NEVER find peace now and in their after life. This sure hurts

Assertive like the rod of Moses!??

  6. June 24, 2017

Hope the punishment will suit the crime. Rest in peace young man.

This is rather sad. The people who burned him should be punished. Can’t believe the court system let them get away. This young man like any other young man even if homeless was precious. He had a family just like everyone else and I am pretty sure his family did not like to see him this way. Pepole in DA need to stop treating these people like animals.

Also, any of us can end up to be like Andy, we just do not know what the future holds.

Poor Andy, sleeping and not bothering anyone and was struck on the head while sleeping. Just imagine! What made him do something as that?
When the suspect is charged, he should not be granted bail. He deserves to remain in prison for the rest of his life.
It is stated he could assist in other murder investigations. He may be a serial murderer, one to be feared and who should not be walking the streets of Dominica in general.
Recently, two men were found dead in Roseau, one with his eyes gorged out. Oh my! This is upsetting. How did some people become so wicked?
If he is charged for murder, we hope the Dominican authorities will listen to the people and their cry for justice for Andy and others, if he is also found guilty of their demise.

I watched a video earlier about this man and it’s a shame how he was treated. I hope the person(s) involved are dealt with under the laws. Then again, the justice system in Dominica is like a revolving door.

Lately, we have had a hike in murders, people disappearing and persons found dead. Is there a serial killer or a pack of killers on the loose in Dominica? Does the Police have the capacity to investigate suspected cases of serial murders?

It is time to resume capital punishment in Dominica for heinous and unprovoked murders. Stop giving cold blooded murderers ”punishment holidays” of seven years in jail. Certain murders deserve retribution via execution by the State on behalf of the victims and the rest of society.

My condolences to the family of Andy, who, sadly, lived a miserable life for most of his adult life.

Looking at Andy’s photo I cry. He could have chosen a different path when he was given such a great opportunity. The devil won this time. He lived a hell on earth, may God be merciful to him.

Perhaps the government should pay for the funeral as a sign of commitment to not let something like this happen again.. that andys death not be in vain.. but has woken Dominica, its government and its people to the realization that everyone matters.. that paros are no less a person than anyone else.

Something must be done… bring in an outside consultant to help come up with a plan.

My people.. please teach your children compasion. PAROS ARE PEOPLE TOO.

    RiP Andy

Yes I….so they finally kill that guy eh….pour hot water on him, sent him hospital, bounce him with a vehicle, sent him hospital and now they send him to the grave….don’t worry Andy, the good Lord will deal with all these people. That is why people shouldn’t say alas when things start to happen to certain people…cause is wickedness like this they did and reep what they sowed. So just wait and see what and see what will happen to those who ill treated this man instead of helping him rehabilitate.

I strongly believe if the person who burnt Andy had gotten a hash punishment that would have sent a strong message. Believe it or not any one of us can become homeless. Let’s treat each other with respect.

My people! the gentleman got burnt, traffic accident, and now silence permamently. The question is who is next. He was not silly, and he was well loved but, it appears that he knew too much. Now is our turn to help the police with as much as you know, or as little as you think you know. This marijuana business must go enough is enough, it does not worth a human being life. At 32 what a waste. WE ALL MUST UNITE ON THIS one. Together we must find the killer or killers. ain high.

Why doesn’t the incompetent police chief just shut up as he’s been when the young man was found dead in the police cell in Portsmouth chief Carbon came out and said it was definitely murder and it looks like those who were there when the killing happened are getting off,now the incompetent chief says that the person of interest will be charged soon, how can I have any confidence in this square peg placed in a round hole be Skerritt and Blackmore.

So sad. Just because he was homeless and on the streets some folks believed he was less of a human being than they are. There is a God above. Wealthy today, broke tomorrow. Treat others as you would want to be treated

  31. June 23, 2017

The last time I was home , a year ago I saw Andy, I gave him some money to buy launch, he seem to be a little up beat, I must say the government failed Andy, they are only concern about the homeless during tourist season, we as a people need a psychiatric ward for people like Andy , those people like Andy are not going away, mental illness is real, Waite till it happened to your family, we have a serial killer on the lose, and mr Cabon is sitting in his high chair and refuse to address the issue in public, I think the people of Dominica deserve a respond from the chief of police the people are the one paying his salary . Skerro is out of the Island again selling passport, Dominica is really on remote control.

I hope the police get to the bottom of this..they are sacrificeing people in Dominica now. Can’t you see my people? We need to get Justice for Andy . Please my people don’t stay silent we need the death penalty. We can’t afford or allow this to go unpunished we need an eye for an eye on this one. Mr. Daniel this is your last test to show what you have to Offer Dominicans.

Only a foreigner Kareem? I am no fan of Skerrit but am a Dominican and agree with you. Dominicans are not a separate species from foreigners. Skerrit could easily arrange for the Grotto home to be finished for homeless people like this though. He has the money.

In as much as this government is bad for Dominica it is not the government’s fault at all it the people. We have become so cold hearted. We condone wrong and allow injustice to take over our land. Once we put political party before people and country we have taken thst plunge into the valley of destruction.
So the people get the government they deserve so why blame the government when people like Andy or GON Emmanuel get no justice simply because we the people without our feet down and demand that justice be served
