As the attempted murder trial of Albert Stevens Jr. enters its third day the prosecution has called Mandela Andrew, the man who was stabbed, to the witness stand.
Andrew told the court that on December 26, 2008, at about 4:00 pm, he was driving his Nissan Sunny PF786 on Bowers Lane in Goodwill to see a mechanic.
“When I reached the intersection of Bowers Lane and Gutter I spoke to two men. I then turned my vehicle and heard someone shouting ‘cous, cous’ and then turned to my right and saw my cousin Joseph who spoke to me,” Andrew told the court.
According to him, he continued driving his vehicle out of Bowers Lane and noticed some men on the right side of the road. They were Albert Stevens Jr., Kesler Alcendor and Kevin Richards who had a silver pellet gun in his hand.
“While driving about 5 kilometers per hour, I heard ‘tac, tac, tac’ on my vehicle and observed it was bullets from the pellet gun. One bullet struck me on the right side of my neck. I felt a burning sensation and got angry and so brought my vehicle to a sudden stop, got out, went to the men including Albert and said to them one day someone will kill them if they don’t stop that nonsense,” he stated.
He explained to the court that Richards looked at him and shot him in the chest with the pellet gun. Kesler was to his right and Kevin asked him to “shoot me.”
“I then brushed Alcendor with the pellet gun. Then heard Albert say, ‘you think you can take man as your little boy.’ I Felt a blow to my left area of neck and began to feel dizzy. Stevens was to my left,” he remarked.
He said that he was then punched and jabbed by Stevens and also felt punches from all angles. “I then felt a pull by my vest and a sharp pain in my chest, I looked down and saw a redish/brownish handle knife stuck in my chest,” Andrew told the court.
Andrew said that it was then Kevin told him “see what you make happen to you.” He said Kevin tried to assist in removing the knife from his chest with no success and he then pushed him (Kevin) aside and then everyone left the scene.
“I went to my vehicle and proceeded to the Princess Margaret Hospital but on arrival near the Pentecostal Church went unconscious and that is where the ambulance was called and was transported to the PMH,” he testified.
At the time of writing, Andrew was still on the witness stand and is expected to continue his evidence after which he will be cross examined by defense counsel Gina Dyer Munroe and Zena Dyer.
DPP Gina Pestaina along with Clement Joseph and Arthlyn Nesty are prosecuting on behalf of the state.

It’s because the charges against his brother and cousin were dropped after their statements from the PI that crucified him. But the DPP should have still continue the charges against them so that they’d have no choice but to say the same things in high-court that they said in the PI. I was there myself to hear them rat him out as the main perpetrator.
