Weekes vows zero tolerance during carnival

Weekes

Police have vowed to fulfill their mandate this carnival with the adoption of a zero tolerance approach on crime, acting assistant superintendent Claude Weekes has said.

“There will be zero tolerance on violence in the shows or in the bands and the activities that will be taking place,” Weekes vowed.

Weekes, the Public Relations Officer for the police department, has been expressing concern about negative behavior during festive seasons particularly among the youth, and said law enforcement officials will work to prevent such activities.

He said police are also going to get tough on those who choose to disregard traffic laws just “because its carnival”.

“That’s a no no” Weekes said.

The carnival route as designed by the traffic department is southward along Independence Street between Kennedy Avenue and King George V Street, westward along King George V Street between Independence Street and Hanover Street, and northward along Hanover Street then between King George V Street and Kennedy Avenue and eastward along Kennedy Avenue, between Hanover Street and Independence Street.

Mr Weekes is well poised to bringing respectability to the Police Force. He is astute and resolute in the execution of his job. Further more he has a high moral stance with the fear of God. A good mix for heading the Police Force. Congratulations Mr Weekes as you shine amist the darkness. God bless you my brother and friend.

Come on what traffic laws. I think that one should be looking at more pressing things. If the traffic is not on the route why should there be a problem. It has been happening for years.

  7. My Mandate........
    March 6, 2011

    Mr. Weeks,

this should be a 24/7, 365DAYS policy. Afterall, the police mandate on crime and violence does not only apply to the Carnival season, does it?

If it does, then here we have it….the reason why our country is going down the drain FAST!

Please Mr; Weeks, go back to the Drawing Board!!!!!!!

Zero tolerance cannot be enforced 24/7, 365 days or else we will become a police state. This approach is only taken when absolutely necessary to protect the populace. Hence, one should not confuse the term zero tolerance with effective policing/ law enforcement which we must do 24/7, 365 days.

Congrats. Mr.Weeks, you are doing a very good job…Personally,I do believe you are very good at what you do, very efficient ,effective and meticulous as a Officer of Police and as a prosecutor as well. You know your “stuff”…I do hope that “they” recognize that, and reward you accordingly.
You bring credibility and integrity to the Police Force, and do believe you are well liked and respected by your colleagues, and the respective communities that you work in…..

Let’s all hope for a very peaceful carnival……with minimal minor incidences and no arrests for anything major………

Hey,wait a minute, wouldn’t it be something,if you went to study, obtain a Law degree, and return to Dominica to become a Magistrate?..that you be something eh…..I do believe you would be a very good and effective Magistrate..a great dispenser of “justice”…….Oh well, sorry, wishful thinking on my part……

Anyway, all the best to you. Keep up the good work….and..
    Profound Peace…….

The sad thing about a servant and one who is charged to execute the laws of our land is we always have to educate the public and inform them of what is expected of them and the respect for law and order but like human nature dictates there`s going to be one or two smart a…….hole to show some disdane for the rule of law and make it bad for the law abding good citizens amongst us,those are the ones in my days i had no sympathy for, therefore the approach of “OO” tolerant must be observed i urged my fellow officers and all law abiding Dominicans please assist our police officers put the bad guys where they belong so we all can enjoy life in Dominica without fear and panic. Hope we have one of the incidence free celebrations. PEACE AND LOVE: FROM MR: PASS—CARL.

Weekes gives zero tolerance to the criminals, but the court will give two tolerances to the criminals.

So don’t stress and kill your self Mr. Weekes.
