Croy Timothy, of Wesley, has been sentenced to six years in jail after he pleaded guilty to having sex with an underage girl.
The incident took place between August 1 and 31, 2014.
Two charges of indecent assault were dropped after the guilty plea.
Testimony made in court revealed that Timothy and the minor communicated via social media and their relationship grew.
The girl would go to Timothy’s home and he would also go to her home. She eventually asked Timothy to have sex with her and they went to his home. At his home, he asked her whether she was sure she wanted to have sex with him and she responded positively.
Justice Errol Thomas said in court that seeking the child’s permission to have sex with her was “aggravating” knowing that she was underage.
A social inquiry report in the matter stated that the girl feels hurt and lacks confidence at school and the incident has had a lasting effect on her.
She also requested a custodial sentence for Timothy.
In court, Timothy expressed his remorse for his actions.
Justice Thomas started the notional sentence at nine years and due to Timothy’s guilty plea, 1/3 was reduced bringing the sentence down to six years.
Look at all these people defending that pedofile…it does matter what the CHILD asked for he is suppose to be the adult and restrain from his nasty perverted needs. If she asked him to go rob a bank and he did it would that be her fault? I really don’t understand some peoples thinking.?

Oh the Internet. It is capable of some good things but some very bad ones. This is the era we reside in.
This young child was allowed access to the Internet unsupervised, chatted with the man, posing as a well-learned person and no doubt an adult.
I wonder if she lied about her age to him; likewise himself?
When he met her and observed that she is a child, he should not have encouraged her. She asked him for sex and he could not resist the temptation. He really should have refused and told her to go home.
It is taking a chance chatting with a stranger or strangers over the Internet. To a certain extent, she is lucky she is in Dominica. Some young children and also adult women have been murdered when they go to meet strangers or vice versa. Few are fortunate to communicate with a nice person and a law-abiding one.
Parents must inform their children of the perils of the Internet. Will children ever learn, even as they grow older and to adulthood?
He think with his crotch not his mind, when she came to him saying she wanted to have sex he should refused because she was underage. He should makeup somekind od story and don’t fall for it. He wrong and totally wrong.
I fully understand this sentence but the man should use his brain and drive that young girl away from his house.This young girl asked and received what she wanted.not many men either would be able to resist such an offer…hope he learns a lesson from his mistake..

A child can request anything. An adult has to give permission. Not everything a child requests should be granted.

Here is a young girl wanting sex feeling for sex and the NATURAL feelings of her body is betraying her. The adult male asked her and she said positively. This is very contradicting and the judge should not have punished the man. All evidence towards the young girl wanting to have sex. Nature is stronger than most of us. Increasing the age of concent will not win the fight against the fire of nature… This situation must be addressed very carefully… It’s a difficult issue to fight what is natural but then again there are laws that must be abided to… I suggest there should be guidance for teenagers and underage girls. A course of action must be implemented to address these urges from the underage girls. There should be responsible persons to whom these young underage girls can go to for advice and guidance… Eg. a toll free number that these young people can call where someone is available and well Intuned on the subject matter who will advice them accordingly.
She should not have been chatting on line with someone she does not know. This is typical of children/teenagers. They are not supervised. Her parent(s) should have cautioned her against it.
I am an adult and no way will I ever chat on line with a stranger. I do not even access that Website and have no interest to do so.

Also put the blame where it belongs. For her young age she appeared to be an aggressor.

This is one young child who is good for herself and appears to know more and is bolder than some adults. She is not shy at all. Even asked a man to have sex? Oh my! I never heard of a child doing that.

This continues to happen: Almost two years between the time the incident took place and when the case was heard in court. The reasons this is too long to wait have been stated so often they don’t need to be repeated.
The immoral character of this child is seen in the fact that she actually asked him to have sex with her.
The girl saying she feels hurt and lacks confidence at school is understandable but it is hardly credible because she asked him to have sex with her.
Also the fact that that he asked her at his home if she was sure she wanted to have sex with him does not merit a break. He had communicated with her on social medial. This was a planned meeting. It would be hard to believe Timothy did not have intensions.
Counseling should be mandatory for both Timothy and the young lady.

I would not necessarily call him a monster but certainly a law breaker. Apparently the sex was consensual and, from all accounts the girl does not consider the perpetrator a monster. However, that does not mean it was legal.
Sex between an adult and an child CANNOT BE CONSENSUAL. A child cannot give consent. OMG what is wrong with Dominica?
Sex between an adult and a child cannot be consensual. A CHILD CANNOT GIVE CONSENT. Dominica you need to fix this problem. This is an epidemic!
This act was wrong for two reasons.
(1) It was something God forbids. This was sex between a male and a female who are not married to each other and are not husband and wife. The Bible calls this “fornication”. See 1 Corinthians 6:18.
(2) This girl was under the age of consent. She could not LEGALLY give consent so her consent (the verbal expression of her willingness) counted for absolutely nothing. In reality this man raped the girl. In some countries this is called “statuary rape” in court.
It should be dealt with as a rape case.
The man should receive professional counselling while he is in jail because he is apt to re-offend.
The girl should also receive counselling to help her avoid making the same mistake again.
Unfortunately many young people are not being taught at home that sex belongs in marriage and is wrong outside marriage. Many parents do not exemplify the moral code God has given us and are bashful about trying to teach it.
