On a journey to find herself, freedom and independence…
On 3rd April, 1985 Marley Baptiste and Hetty Rolle gave birth to a tiny but determined little girl they named Marcia Baptiste.
Marcia began her education at the tender age of four at the St. John’s Catholic Primary School. From there, she obtained the third bursary in the island which allowed her attendance at Portsmouth Secondary School. At sixteen she was a proud graduate and holder of seven general proficiency subjects. Her educational journey led her through the Clifton Dupigny Community College which resulted in her attainment of three A level passes. Her goals now include working in the Criminal Justice field as a Crime Scene Investigator, or being an entrepreneur who would assist in the development of her country.
The excitement of travelling, meeting new people and learning new things forms part of her nature. Marcia had the drive to become a model citizen and of course enter the Miss Dominica Pageant. Armed with her new found identity, her life experiences, her concern for people battling with diabetes and living unhealthy lifestyles, and her thrill for justice to be served, she returned to Dominica to take on a challenge that she has dreamt of one too many times.
Being an ambassador for Dominica is something that comes naturally to Marcia. She is a people person, a natural leader, one who can identify with and represent youth in the struggles that they face. She believes that through God everything is possible, life is not easy and nothing comes freely, but with hard work and determination, everything is possible. Marcia lives with the perpetual belief that life has no boundaries so do not limit yourself.

I wish some of you would really learn from the quote ” if you have nothing good to say, then dont say anything at all” I mean why come on this website to view the young ladies who made a bold, brave decision to make themself available to take part in this pageant, all for the love of country, culture etc just to criticise them. I mean all of you who make nasty comments to each and every one of these young ladies, is very RUDE, DISTASTEFUL, DISGUSTING, AND SHAMEFUL!! And its the same people who make the RUDE comments, are the same people who CANNOT do any better. Your body shape, Your facial structure or your educational background may not be any better than any of these young ladies!! Take a good look at yourself, your attitude etc before you judge someone else. Take a good look at yourself before you INSULT someone else.
If these young ladies did not step forward WE WOULD NOT BE HAVING A CARNIVAL QUEEN SHOW!!
So I say, HATS OFF TO YOU LADIES, you all DESERVE FLOWERS, and I wish EVERY ONE OF YOU the BEST OF LUCK on the night of the show. Go out there and do your best.
Ms Baptiste,
You have the title of Ms Dominica already.
The other young ladies as far as I can see, have nothing on you ,if only you allow them.
