All is set for the staging of the 2015 edition of the Miss Dominica State College (DSC) Mas Jamboree 2015 carded for February 12 at the Windsor Park Sports Stadium.
Seven young ladies will compete for the crown.
They are Brianna Vidal, 18 of Bioche, Karla Henry, 19 of Mahaut, Tamika Balson, 18, of Fond Canie, Alwina Thomas, 19, of Penville, Sherika Winston, 18 of Bath Estate, Sharisse Fabien, 17 of Grand Bay and Shantell George, 18 of Fond Cole.
They will compete in various segments: Introduction, Talent, Evening Wear, Thematic Wear and Question & Answer.
Director of Student Services at the DSC, Edgar Hunter said the college recognized that the Carnival Committee was experiencing difficulties in getting young women to participate in the Miss Dominica Pageant so “we decided as a State College it was our responsibility to produce young women for the Miss Dominica Pageant and we have done so successfully.”
According to him, the winner of the Mas Jamboree is highlighted at major college events.
“For graduation we ensure that the winner gives the vote of thanks and we do all we can to highlight them in the college’s life,” Hunter explained. “We send them out to represent the college at different events.”
He stated that a Bouyon section will be a major component of the show.
“We recognize that Bouyon music is the leading music in Dominica now and at the State College we decide that we have to play our role,” he noted. “So as part of the Mas Jamboree we have what we call a Bouyon section and this year we will be featuring one of the top Bouyon bands the Triple Kay Global and two upcoming bands, Cross Vibes Band and the Signal Band.”
He said Calypso will also be featured at the event with Young Bull, Sting Ray, Black Diamond among others, all set to perform.
Tickets cost $15.00 for students with ID and $20.00 for everyone else.
The show is expected to begin at 5:00pm.
The reigning Miss DSC Mas Jamboree is Ayanna St Rose.

Full support to miss Alwina Thomas…
All of these girls are lovely. But I believe the winner of the pageant will be Sharisse Fabien from the southern community of South City Grandbay. Good luck girls
I must say beautiful young ladies i believe Alwinar and Karla are in for the win the top two…the best are these two..look out for them at National Queen Show #KarlaHenry #AlwinarThomas
Very interesting that the DSC offical said he producing girls for the National Queen Show. But since I know my self the this is not so, this pageant just started and since I know myself the DFC alwayds had ladies coming in to register with no input of the DSC jamboree, – thats a youn pageant. Eeverybody want to get a name in everything, we need to stop this. What is the statistics of ladies from Jamboree registering for Queen. You State College Students registering not Jamboree Contestants if my memory serves me right.
Briana make us proud

DSC continues to show its sexist ways. Everything is for women and “they” continue to say how young men are marginalized. Dr. Peters you and Mr. Hunter and the rest of staff organize a Calypso Jamboree where the young men and women too will have an opportunity to express themselves. And please don’t veto those who will sing about you and the PM(lol)
Good luck to all especially Ms. Fabien. You got this!
Team Shawwww we no u can doo ittt
Good luck to all the young ladies. Karla go for the crown. Best of luck to you.
