Carnival officially kicked off in St. Joseph on Saturday.
Community members were treated to a variety of floats, sensay costumes and pulsating music.
Below are few photos from the event.

Be a good Example DNO post appropriate photos, some of these pics should be deleted. Not posting comments of critizing your staff bad judgement won’t help your medium either.
A woman selling her personal assets won’t help your views get wider.
Beautiful colour persons seem to have had a good time, however I believe these photos should have been vetted before posting. DNO the onus is on you as the media to help protect our youth, you guys actually have them selling themselves here. Photos 139, 140, 151 and 152 should be deleted from this. Let people put these on their own facebooks or the like if they want to sell themselves. Then we are quick to report stories about the youth who get involved in sexual activities at an early age.
Please set the example as media personnel.

What is that nuh …I think the money for th parade should go into some talent shoe.Waw
yes it’s opening of St.Joe carnival but the only person I saw from St.Joe is Mesh & a young girl in red all the others people with floats are from out of St.Joe what’s happening St.Joe people?
one day d girl in red…wiill learn to cover up herself! smh…we all seen ur goods my dear…cover it up some…it went from sexc to funny…now its juss flat out…Pffff!..its like wat next…cover up my dear…ppl may actually start to get interested with wats going on in ur head ( if there is anything in it) than wat you wear!
WELL SAID! The same ones who compliment her does not have anything good to say once their backs are turned. SAD eh!!
It is time we all come together to develop this village.
Lets beautify front and back streets by breaking down the old houses and putting new ones up.
Irvin, I would like to ask you what was so disappointing about the opening of Portsmouth carnival.
take your time my brother and look at the pic. ask your friends in possie. read the comments below, close your eyes and flash back a couple of years, now open your eyes. can you see the deffirencese? if that still does not work! then take out your RED glasses. you will see every thing clearly.
so because it have all that going on the the country, we should not celebrate freedom? smh….we can let the troubles of the world keep us from enjoying ourselves.
Despite the fire just before the opening, things still turned out well. Hats off to my Sen Joe peeps!
i agree with you time to turn to the god who created us time to start giving him the praises which belong to him and turn away from the world not long my people not long before he returns again look around you and see what is happening the signs are all in place
All this is evident that carnival is loosing its taste these last few years. A people cannot celebrate freedom when there are so many issues going on in their lives and the entire nation on a whole right now. If it’s not government, it’s the judiciary, if it’s not abuse of some kind, it’s the state of the economy, if it’s not girl friend and boyfriend, its husband and wife stress, if it’s school maylay its…………..
People righteousness exalts a nation but SIN is a reproach to any people.
Dominicans it’s time to turn your back on sin and turn your eyes upon God.
Dominica carnival authority should advertise Dominica carnival as the most disorganised carnival in the world.! No color just rum and d party.
People who are unable to motivate themselves must be content with mediocrity, no matter how impressive their other talents.
while possie keep celibrating mediocrity.
st jo people i hope you the sency people will paya respect to mickel nowing that he had like the sency like you all i would like you to dress with what he hadlike and make a big march to the cimetry on that day
to his sister madano acept my sympthy guada girls
guada girls will be in st joe yo make it more heavy st jo people
My prayer for Dominica is that her people shall be saved. Man, woman and child.
Blessings my peeps!
st joe masa
WOW!!!!!!!!!!!! and did u’ll see the shameful opening in possie on sunday!
Yes I did. I saw Possie carnival opening on Sunday. It looked like a barcanal and cigarette parade, not carnival parade. Almost every man had a cigarette smoking. It’s the first time I saw so many persons smoking like that.
The organizers kill the time and make the truck drive straight into the market. There was no parade. The organizers just want to make money.
