Piper said suggestions by stakeholders were implemented

CEO of the Discover Dominica Authority, Collin Piper has said that the implementation of suggestions from Carnival stakeholders contributed greatly to the success of Mas Dominik 2016.

“At the post-Carnival review we did in 2014, we listened to the stakeholders, and looked for what could make Carnival more impactful, and I’m happy to say that Discover Dominica Authority listened to those suggestions, we took them onboard, and in particular, delivered on a few that the stakeholders thought were priority,” Piper said, on Wednesday, at the Mas Dominik 2016 Prize-Giving Ceremony.

Initiatives such as the creation of a Carnival website, entertainment during the lunch hours, and constant activity at the Carnival village were introduced this year, Piper pointed out.

“Creating a Carnival website, this will now be the portal from which everyone can get information about the main festivals in Dominica…,” he noted. “We also attempted to fill the void at the lunchtime hours. This has been something that people have brought up from time to time, and we had a good start, doing some activity on Old Street. And, certainly, with more planning, we will improve upon that. And the third suggestion, surrounding the Carnival Village, was to have ongoing activities throughout Carnival, and we delivered on that this year, in terms of the huge schedule of activities…”

The website, he stated would also serve as “an avenue for economic activity” in Dominica, where people can find information on how to join a band, and participate in Carnival.

Piper encouraged the public to continue to suggest initiatives to improve the Carnival experience.

“We certainly look forward to more of the public’s suggestions,” he stated.

Looks like govt. want to take control of carnival and that is never going to work. Is like designing a camel from scratch and ending up with three humps and five legs. Carnival is a people thing , let them do it, join in and guide them along the way to keep things smooth, that’s all.

On the second day the trucks was to close. We couldn’t hear the sounds from the truck it was just a big box of noise. Definitely needed more space between the trucks plus it was a security concerns in between that crowd. Fix it next yea Fam..
