Sherise Linton of the Pioneer Preparatory School has emerged as the 2013 Carnival Princess.
The show took place at the Harlem Plaza on Sunday evening.
First runner up is Leslie Roberts of the Convent Preparatory School.
Second runner up is Kadisha Gregoire of the Grand Bay Primary School.
Third runner up is Grace Ettienne of the Delices Primary School.
The category winners are as follows:
Leslie Robert: Miss Intelligence, Miss Congeniality, Best in Party Dress.
Sherise Linton: Best in Costume
Renelle Coipel of the Castle Bruce Primary School: Best Talent
Grace Ettienne: Miss Photogenic
The show was organized by the Rotaract Club.
Last year’s winner was Adicia Burton of the Salybia Primary School.

I know this is late but I don’t care….do u all think miss linton actually worry with allu…the child maybe all enjoying her life and why allu doing….making a fuss over her and her crown
i think u should all know that it was an open show and that anyone could win but they should have given them more time trust me i sure it would have been more competive and that the girl would have done an even better competition but it was all right congrats to cherise and the other princesses

all of u Dominicans doesn’t understand that the child was CONSISTANT she got the highest in best in costume and second place in all which gives her the highest overall score stop saying convent suppose to win she come out in the top be happy.

it was a very good show although Ms. Roberts deserved the crown.. Ms. Linton congratulations however your stage presence was near terrible you looked scared all the time you lacked expression in your dancing etc… you need to come better next time that way people wont question whether or not you deserved your crown

i think all the young intelligent beauties deserve to win they were all very good but i think they should all have more time then everyone would see who deserved to win it would have been better we are cousins congrats ps u should not go for others because if u don win im sure all be sad and upset so next time break a leg literally but u need to loosen up have fun lol!.

Well done sherice. You deserved the crown however i was disappointed in the two other places. lESLIE also deserved her position. I mean come oon the judges are not quite clear with wat they are looking for cuz i dont know the young lady personally from morne prosper i think. She was consistent although her costume was simple. I was told that they were nit judged for costume cuz it is not them that created it however she moved well in it. If the judges had listened to her talent or maybe even heard it they would have given her best talent. U all are just so unprofessional in this dominica. My heart goes out to u ppl.
I concur – listened by radio and that young ladies talent, in my opinion, far surpassed that of the other contestants.

that is just not right,how can the young girl three awards an she placing first the queen last year got every thing an she won,the young lady got one an she is being crowned so so so not right,that is why i will not pay my money to support any show to continue because it is always a problem for the crown,prizes and money to be be received….so not right.
She may have been best in three round. But is the overall points that counts.
For example, lets do some maths…
Leslie may have gotten 20, 20,20,14 for miss intelligent, congeniality, best in party wear and custom.
that give her an overall score of 74 points.
whereas Linton may have gotten 19, 18,19 and 20 for the same rounds giving her an overall score of 76.
She m,ay not have been in the best in all rounds, but she performed in all and was consistent and had the highest overall score, then she deserves to be crowned miss princess. Hope this help

Please understand that the categories are not equally weighted! Someone can outdo the others in the categories carrying less points, (and sometimes by only a point or two) and not do too well in the ones carrying more points. Hence the reason for not automatically winning. Just think of it.
It’s simple. Like the heptathlon or pentathlon, the constant second always win the overall race. In competitions with multiple categories, one need to be solidly strong in all categories in order to secure the win. One little mistake and that may cost you the one point to the crown.

How she won with just one award(best in costume?) and Leslie Robert got 3 awards? I would think the contestant with the most awards would be the winner???
Interested , I understood some yrs ago that winning more awards than d winner doesn’t mean dat things didn’t go fairly. It only means that although the first runner up scored highest in certain categories, the winner could have scored just a point or two less and was consistently a good performer throughout d competition. Hence it would seem as tho d first runner up would have won after being awarded with so many prizes but this is not ow it works.
Miss Congeniality is not a point-earning award and cannot be considered a crown-winning aspect of the competition. So, Miss Roberts had only one more award than Miss Linton and because we don’t know how the points were distributed, we cannot say Miss Roberts had to win because she won one more award than Miss Linton.

That’s y u are not a judge. The most consistent person in every round, despite the amount of awards she capture, would always go on to win the competition. Plus, u don’t know the points difference between the award winner and the overall winner and in which round the winner really pulled away, thus capturing the crowd…Be more objective before u write such silly, ill-thought-of conclusions.
Very simple maths; she got very low scores in the in other segments; possibly last or one before. While the winner only needed to be third in two segenents and first in one segment. It may have been as a result if a close competition.

People need to understand that some of these are awards which dont carry any points.You get a trophy and no points. Photogenic, amity/Congeniality,Best dress,best swim wear,best costume dont carry points. Photogenic and mity are trophies you receive. In light of best dress,simwear,costume, these are not the area to concentrate on. Rather what the contestant needs to ensure they secure is best IN evening wear (teen and Ms Dominica)/ party dress(princess),costume. You get points for Best in the round and not best attire. Nontheless, you may get best in 2 or 3 rounds but your scores inthe others were much lower..always aim for consistency and it sees you through in any pageant.

There can be only one winner, they are not all winners otherwise there would not be a competition, stop telling the children that, this is not how life works, there are winners and then there are losers, if there are ten of us in a competition and I come in #10 what did I win? I lost the competition, so I need to retool if I want to do better the next time. Life does not teach us that we are all winners, just look at the people who applied themselves and the ones who didn’t well thats where that notion came from. we cant be all winners, the Labour party won, the uwp lost, Ms. Linton won, the others lost, life is about winning and losing, encourage the children to do their best and if they have done their best they can take consolation in that, but dont tell them they all won, that is simply not true, why then is there only one picture of a smiling winner, would she be on here smiling if she had come in #5? she would have been a loser hence no need to congratulate and celebrate her.

I applaud you 100%. I too hate the saying we are all winners. That is a very poor atittude to give the children of today. They are not all winners. Someone won and the others lost. If they were going to be all winners then why compete.
Francisco Telemaque have issues with his upbringing so had you not been from Wesley he would not make such remark. He needs a psyche eval from “we know who”.
Francisco need not be so bitter. He is grown now, his parents did their best to raise him. Get up brush up the mud and move on. Say thank God you got a chance to move away from the mud.
