Former road march winner Murphy “Sye” Jno Jules is the winner of the 2012 Bernard Georges Show Down Mas Camp competition.
Sye with his popular rendition “Burn, burn” was able to beat new comer to the calypso scene, Black Diamond who has made waves with his song ‘Pit Toilet.”
DBS and Q95 radio commentators along with online viewers, helped to judge the show, complementing the work of a local panel of judges.
The top four places were Sye, Black Diamond, Trendsetter with “Judge Judy” and Vigilante with “Upside down.”
Dressed in a fire man’s outfit, Sye had the crowd singing along and swaying with his popular “Burn Burn” which is seen as a clear road March contender.
Sye’s win does not appear to have come as a surprise to many.
Calypsonian Lightening was judged most improved, Acre most consistent while Sye got the award for most crowd response.
The two female competitors in the Mas Camp Tent, Lady B and Sugar S also received awards.
Last year’s winner Dice, did not compete. However he performed as a guest artist.
On the national stage, this year’s nine finalists are preparing for the 2012 calypso finals to be held on Saturday at Carnival City in Pottersville.
