Members of the public are being applauded by the Dominica Police Force for maintaining a level of law and order during the 2014 Carnival celebrations.
Speaking to Dominica News Online on Wednesday morning Police PRO Inspector, John Carbon, revealed that no major incidents were reported during the two days of street jump up.
“It was immaculate in terms of no major incidents were reported,” he stated. “In terms of wounding and so forth, we did not have any of those … we had reports of persons arrested for offensive weapon mainly knives, scissors, stones.”
Carbon commended the public adding that the two days of street jump up was well attended.
“People really behaved themselves in a manner which was pleasing to members of the public themselves,” he noted.
He said the police maintained a visible presence on trucks, on the road, in the bands and at strategic points in different buildings on both days in an attempt to make sure that members of the public were safe.
High definition cameras were installed at strategic points along the carnival route which Carbon revealed may have had a part to play in maintaining a violence free street jump up.
“The members of the public recognized that the police were there. The public were aware that no matter what they do they were being looked at so I think that assisted in one way or another,” he said.
Bravo! and congratulation to all for a peaceful and wonderful carnival. Thumbs up to the DPD.

Hats off to the general public for assisting the Police, lets maintain that stride and continue to keep Dominica peaceful, hope the success of the cameras at strategic points become a thing we should implement immediately, not only in the city of Roseau but various sections all over the country. Ready or not it has arrived and the people we placed there to make those decision of running our country should wake up and smell the coffee be pro active and not reactive, step in line and do the right thing especially on the occasion of this resounding success. Its time we step in line as it relates to doing things and thinking out side the box. Congratulations to all those who played their part in making sure we had a peaceful Carnival. In that case# EVERYBODY WINS#. Lets all fight to keep it that way, and start putting things in place for this year W.C.M.F. Looking forward to this celebration. Thank all of us####!!!

Great example for neighboring islands!
To echo, a member of KKK in an interview on DBS, tuesday on the road; The young people were out of control on Monday, due to the volume of alcohol they were consuming.
This is one area the ‘Power that BE’ need to adress.Too much Alcohol is being advertised and consume in Dominica on a regular, far less for sewo time,They need to do something about this befor it is to late for the country.
Well thank God I myself don’t take part in those things I’m a lover of Jesus

This was the most peaceful Carnival I have seen in years. The Police we out in Great numbers Plus they had numerous eyes in every corner of the Carnival Route. IT was amazing to see the Level of High Definition Cameras that were installed and I felt safe. I also understand that arrest were made because of this and the Police Force welcomed the new technology and it assisted them in so many other areas. Job Well Done MR. Carbon and his Men and Women. Job Well done Kihmo from Platinum Security and his team of men and women who worked throughout last week and the weekend to ensure these cameras worked flawlessly. Now the dusk has settled let the statistic speak for itself. According the the PRO “It was immaculate in terms of no major incidents were reported,” he stated. “In terms of wounding and so forth, we did not have any of those … we had reports of persons arrested for offensive weapon mainly knives, scissors, stones.” Did you guys read this NO Wounding – AMAZING!!! now critics lets her your spin on this one!

Well done fellow countrymen .I am so pleased what we do need is better coverage and good quality filming for those of us in the diaspora. We as a nation need to be more orderly in terms display of the bands ie blues in the blues section reds in the reds please that would look so beautiful
hope the other countries like St.Thomas and Tortola use the same stragedy to get things under control during their carnival time. Cuz ever so often we have people traveling from oversee to celebrate this grand occasion only to be interrupted by some gang members shooting and killing each other.
