Initially there was an error but the final results are in, Wave is the new Champ of the Camp.
With his song “I must speak,” Wave, whose real name is John Bruno, came out in full force and blew the crowd away at the Harlem Plaza on Thursday evening.
The Anse de Mai native is a newcomer to the Calypso competition and one of the finalists vying for the ultimate Monarch crown on Saturday night.
First runner up is Leona with her crowd pleaser “Baby Machine” followed by Boople with his song “Money Magician.”
Trinity captured third runner up position with his rendition, “A job, a job, a job.”
One of the main organizers of the Showdown Mass Camp, Daryl Bobb said initially there was a mistake when it was announced that Boople was first runner up followed by Leona in second runner up position.
He blamed an error in reading by the announcer for the mistake.
Bobb said despite the late start, the show was great.
“It was a wonderful night, the turnout was tremendous, and it was fun-filled … people really had a good time,” he said.
