Dominican media personality Ayeola is the latest in a series of Caribbean bloggers featured on the Syle&Vibes.com ‘Caribbean Blogger Spotlight.’
Born Ayeola George in the north-east village of Castle Bruce the blogger says, “I am thrilled to be recognized for my efforts to bring Caribbean talent to the fore. My goal is to use this platform to highlight artists and personalities from the region especially the Eastern Caribbean and Dominica in particular.”
Ayeola who is in Kingston Jamaica pursuing a degree in Media and Communications with a minor in Entertainment and Cultural Enterprise Management at UWI Mona answered several questions including: When did you start blogging & why? If you could describe your blog in one sentence, what would it be? What do you hope to accomplish through your blog?
In response to the question ‘What is the most challenging part of being a blogger?’ Ayeola replies, “Based on my goal of highlighting artists from the smaller islands, I find it challenging to get information. Many artists do not have publicists or management teams sending out their music or sending press releases…For the more-popular celebs it can be tasking to cover news as it happens and it’s always happening! But I do what I can and I have learnt over the years to not beat up myself about what I missed. There is no way to cover everything about everybody.”
Originally founded as Limein.com in 2007, the blog has been rebranded as CaribbeanCelebs.com primarily to distinct itself from a well-known telecommunications giant. The new name however points even more clearly to the Caribbeanness of the site. Visitors looking for island specific-information can simply choose the island from those listed in the Categories drop box.
In the case of Dominica, events featured on the blog include, World Creole Music Festival, LIME Creole in the Park, Miss Dominica Pageant, Gospel Explosion, and Clint and Mr. Benji N2O annual Gemini affair birthday bash. The website has interviewed the likes of Nelly Stharre, Klass Money, Olbenz, marie-claire, and King Dice.
On CaribbeanCelebs.com viewers can find mentions of other Dominicans such as Michele Henderson, Colton T, Smokie Cut, Asher Thomas, Kalihi, Shadowflow, Tasha P, De Hunter, Chardelle Moore, Marah Walter, Marcia Baptiste, WCK, Triple Kay International, Heston, DJ Cut, Esclav, Lennox Honeychurch and many more.
CaribbeanCelebs.com is the first blog founded by a Dominican to be featured on the Style & Vibes ‘Caribbean Blogger Spotlight.’ Other blogs featured include JayBlessed.com founded by Trinidadian Jamie Alleyne-Morris, Caribvue.com started by U.S. Virgin Islander Jozette Walker, and Miss Lucy’s Blog created by a Haitian-American.
Style and Vibes was started by Jamaican-American, Mikelah Rose in 2007.

This is ONE great achievement and I sense many more “looming” I can only encourage you to continue being that beacon of light for the vast magority of youths of the region and more specifically your home territory. ONE LOVE MY SISTER!

Great job Ayeola! I remember our days on radio! LOL I always knew you had that media/journalistic trait in ya! Congrats!
Congratulations Ayeola. Keep motivated.
It’s always good to see a Dominica go out there and promote other Dominicans and our culture, talents and abilities by extension. Hers is a notable example of what “we” as young people can do.
Congratulations are in perfect order here!! It is always sooo good to see young people ready to take on the reins; following our Afrikan traits and consciousness, it is repoted thet “Our women keep the sky from falling”.
Take your studies seriously for the future of Dominica, the region and indeed, the world is your playground.
I have always argued that the youth are not “dangerous”, they “are in danger”.
Congrats Ayeo! Continue to strive for excellence.
