Tourism Director Collin Piper is recommending Jeff Jo’s life be honoured at the 16th World Creole Music Festival (WCMF) next year.
Piper is also suggesting the staging of activities next year November, in honour of Jeff Jo.
“Something the St. Joseph community can rally themselves around and that all Dominicans and even the French West Indies can rally around as well,” Piper said following the funeral service.
“If my recommendations are looked upon favourably, we will do something for him at the 16th annual World Creole Music Festival,” he added.
Jeff Jo worked with the Dominica Festivals Committee in promoting the festival in Martinique and Guadeloupe.
The Tourism Director said he will remember Jeff Jo for his excitement and how he lived life.
The cadence star was laid to rest yesterday afternoon in his hometown St. Joseph.
One of Jeff’s last interviews…really representing Kubuli to the max…he went out pushing DA as he always did…

I would like to see the organisers honor his wish by bring Santana for the world Creole Music Festival.Puerto Rico has over three Millon people, with a little promotion over there, you could have a lot people boarding AA to come to dominica for the festival. That would be good for the festival.
Enough already! Seems like the news for the past several days has only been about Jeff Jo. We expressed our appreciation for what he’s done for DA but we need to move on. He’s moved on.
only what is done for christ will last.people put God first so on judgement day he will say ‘well done good and faithful servant. lets work to honour GOD kingdom in the little timme we have here. to the farmily hold on to God.accept him if you all do not know him.there is no world creole music fest in heaven
Another donkey brayed…. Everyone someone thinks of something don publishes it. Please give us news not dreams….
my two cens : ALL BANDS CONTRACTED TO PERFOPRM AT THE FESTIVAL MUST PLAY A SONG OF GRAMMACKS, IN WHAT EVER GENRE THEY CHOOSE. THE ORIGINAL GRAMMACKS CAN NOW START GETTING READY TO PERFORM THEIR HITS INVITING LOCAL VOCLAIST TO MAKE UP THE FRONT LINE LIKE LINDFORD JOHN , DERRICK PETER, ELIJAH BENIOT, ETC.
JUST A THOUGHT.
Jeff Joe should be honoured now..why wait till next year to honour our beloved J.J.Dominica will never have another talent like this brother.J.J was a musical hustler who try to experiment all kind of music and I think next year we should be remembering this honorable brother.Give the brother the highest honour before the end of the year and we will celebrate his life next year WCMF..Nov 4th should be JJ day because we cannot afford another holiday on the calender.
tell me why do we have to wait for when some-one die to praise theme for their good work?like the saying say give them the flowers while they alive
why do u people keep harping on that? Jeff Jo was much appreciated. Juts be happy that his memory is being honoured.
It would be nice to have entertainers who knew and were close to jeff collaborate on a project cd with some of jeff songs with release close to fest 2112. Proceeds going towards building or organisation of a jeff project. An these same musicians would open the 2112 fest in jeff’s honor.exile members, original grammacks members,Chubby and ko of midnight groovers,Michelle and Ophelia, members of swingingstars,Freddy and cornell, new generation members. As a matter of fact there can be more than one allstar band since kassav volt and other french entertainers would participate. All of jeff friends would sure want to be part of this.DFC take note thank u.
WELL DONE DOMINICA,DO THE RIGHT THING,ONER YR HEROES MAKE THEM STAY OUR HEARTS FOREVER.AND HOPE THAT WILL INSPIRE MORE YOUNGER PEOPLE TO DRIVE OUR CREOLE CULTURE FORWARD,
also i would think that the young generation will be inspired by his dedication & contribution to creole music.so well done everyone who are giving their well support one love DOMINICA.
A no brainer…the festival should be held in his honour.
Further, it’s an excellent marketing took to attract french visitors by selling it as festival dedicated to the memory of Jeff.
