Six mothers from around the island will get an opportunity to display their talents come February 2nd at the Arawak House of Culture during the Carnival Mothers’ Pageant.
Swimsuit, talent, traditional wear (portraying carnival costumes of long ago) and evening wear, are the four segments making up the show.
The contestants are Cheronno Morancie, Caryl Baron, Josephine Dublin, Kyishrma Victor, Sandra Adam and Vernice Joseph.
Organizer, Patricia Cuffy, said the event is more than just a show for the public.
“We want to be able to give back … so we are going to give back to the Government Printery and the Operation Youth quake. We just don’t want to come and have a show and don’t give back,” she said.
Cuffy said one of the reasons for the pageant is to allow mothers the opportunity to display what they have to offer in terms of their talent. “So we can get mothers to go up to showcase mothers because we know in Dominica we only look at one thing, Carnival Queens, childless … but what I see is that mothers also can showcase their talents and whatever they have to so that is one of the reasons… let us see what the mothers can do,” Cuffy noted.
The Ladies will be featured at stardom Tent on Wednesday and Mass camp on Friday.
Cynthia Walsh, Claudine Charles and Yola Toussaint are the other organizers of the pageant.
Tickets cost EC $25.00.
See photos of contestants below.
there should be a competition for young mothers next year.. i bet it would be great, who thinks so thumps up!!
Wow, I just heard the contestants introduce themselves on the Stardom tent. Lawd, they are not ready for prime time. Quite embarrassing. Aren’t there educated girls who have kids out there. I think they need to raise the standard of the show. What is the purpose of this show? Is it just to have another pageant?
err! rubbish? I might have to laugh at this one.
Just my point from my comment before,I was also listening and had to turn off.I am surprised that theese comentators would take time off for theese unproductive shows, don’t they have nothing else to occupy their time. and as I said before this is lowering the level of the queen show.
Come on Dominica let us upgrade our standards.
leave out the swimwear segment plz we dont need to see all of that….! All the other segments are enough …good luck to the ladies ..brave ladies !!!
One thing that I loved about Dominican women was they fact they were not only beautiful but natural.
Why so much weaves etc? What happened to ‘my own hair’?
Please check the name of the Baron contestant. I think it is Caryl Baron and not Earyl Baron.
Well Well Well What other competitions will Dominica have next?
Why not try to push the Carnival Queen whoever wins to a higher level, like having them enter the Miss Universe or The Miss World competitions so that Dominica can be known around the world. The girls who have been competing are very intellegent and beautiful.
justice i like how u put things right gooooo girl.
I find those ladies looking good wi pal….@Pussina: trust me, if good character was a criterion for entering pageants, PLENTY of our young ladies would be disqualified….So stay in your lane, you not making any sense.
good luck ladies do it for those who cant
Pussina who cares? Your comment makes no sense. Where commess coming in? SMH
What’s the relevance of this show ?????
Head up, chin up, best foot forward, ladies. I wish you all the best of luck. You are all beautiful!
The Dublin girl looks GREAT!
I think this show should be taken to a higher standard. Some (not all) of the ladies who are going up for this contest are really not feet for such. when you take a look at their characters and background its a shame. we have to start saying positive things to our future generation. one of the contestants was modeling at an event last year and it was totatlly despicable.
And you my deaR are not “feet” to post on DNO sorry I mean “fit” lol. @ca mem
You talking bad about people and you don’t even know proper english. The word is “fit” not “feet”…I guess you not even fit to make a comment on DNO. You are such a Hater!! If you don’t like the girls then don’t come to the show.
WHOSSSSSSSSSSS look Commess…and is me those people contacting to judge show.. carmem not me..I not in that
pussna u toujour la to critisize….u and ur comments are de biggest commess dat does b on dno…WORTHLESS
LOOK AT JUDGING THE SHOW AS A CONTRIBUTION TOWARDS CARNIVAL.. GROW UP!!
what is ur stress? what is so much “comess” about the show? stups….if u aint got nothing positive to say just watch d photos and quietly leave!
First and only commess is you. I see jealousy ringing in the air. I think you wanted them to contact you and because they rejected your azzz you come in here to be negative. The women are all beautiful and for mothers, they look well good. Give them the thumbs up and all the support you can because not too many mothers get the chance to do what they are doing. HAVE FUN MOTHERS.
@pussina – why dont u shut your big mouth. you wont make a better contestant. some people will go all out to contribute to carnival, while people like you sit behind the scene and criticize and make people feel small. whoever you are, with that fake name, u better go and look at yourself in the mirror.
