DAIC statement on the fuel shortage in Dominica

Roseau, December 22, 2022 – The Dominica Association of Industry and Commerce (DAIC) is deeply concerned about the critical situation in Dominica with the shortage of fuel.

This gas shortage continues to be a major issue facing our Members, the Private Sector, and the island, in general. We are witnessing the impact caused by this gas disruption with ripple effects across our supply chains. This is reflected in the slowdown and potential crippling of our businesses as they are unable to conduct business as is customary at this critical and important revenue generating season. Moreover, this has impacted the general public’s ability in many ways inclusive of critical activities such as accessing health and other essential services.

DAIC urges the Government and distributors to continue to keep the lines of communication open to ensure that the public is aware of any changes in real time.  Businesses make decisions about their operations and their employees based on information available. DAIC encourages the public to listen to official updates provided by the state.

DAIC remains invested in facilitating serious discussions with the key stakeholders, including the wholesalers and the Government with the aim of reaching both short term and long-term solutions to the current challenges.

DAIC where was your voice when it was most needed? Your lame, belated statement is of no significance. The ship has sailed.

DAIC stands for Department of Acute Indifference & Counterproductivity

Where was DAIC when Rubis was trying to get a better deal on the distribution of fuel which seems to benefit the government of Dominica a much more than the distributor. Sorry DAIC but i didn’t see your statement on the matter if you made one.

The time for discussions with this rogue CM surely has passed. The man has to be kicked out of office. Nothing but problems he causes the citizens of DA. Enough is enough, get him into Stockfarm.
