DFP statement on the devastation of the Bahamas by Hurricane Dorian

Aerial view of damage in the Bahamas

The Dominica Freedom Party DFP expresses its deepest sorrow and sympathy to the Government and people of the Bahamas on the destruction suffered during the passage of Hurricane Dorian which pounded the Islands of Abaco and Grand Bahamas for several hours. The severe loss of life, property and livelihoods is heartbreaking and a huge setback for the government and people of the Bahamas

We pray that the search and rescue efforts will move quickly and for clean–up and recovery to begin soonest. We encourage the people of the Bahamas to stay strong and united to take on the challenges of putting their lives back together. We also encourage CARICOM to lead an effort to guide, support and provide assistance with the involvement of the Caribbean Disaster Emergency Management Agency (CDEMA) to help the Bahamian people in their recovery and rebuilding efforts

The frequent devastating effects of storms and hurricanes in recent years on lives, properties and livelihoods of Caribbean people, calls for serious discussions and action on strategies to mitigate and adapt to climate change and to mitigate the impact of natural disasters.  The people of the Commonwealth of Dominica understand very clearly the negative impact of these horrific weather systems, the country having been ravaged by Hurricane David in 1979, Tropical Storm Erika in 2015 and Hurricane Maria in 2017.

It had to take Dorian to open the eyes of the negative critics in the DFp and UWp from their slumber re Maria when they went into hiding (M.I.A.)
They kept their ears and eyes closed to Skerro’s policy to make Dominica the first Climate Resilient country in the whole wide world. Now they are suggesting that CARICOM countries should embrace Dominica’s policy which has received international approval. Great Job Dr Dr the Rt Hon. Rosevelt Skerrit.
His response to crisis and challenges, natural and manmade, has made him “International Man of the Century” and the all time best leader Dominica ever had. The best PM of all. No wonder he has massive majority support.
Those uwp and dfp lost GANGBANGERS will try to activate all kinds of fake moves against him and the DLP because of envy and JAR LOU ZEE.
I wonder who they are trying to fool or impress with their fake empathy. None in Bahamas is reading or has received their postings. No sympathy for Dominicans at all.

DFP could not have WON without the LABOURITES.It was the Labourites who turned against PJ and voted DFP As long as ASS-U-ME is leader DFP will NEVER get back in power

    • Vote UWP
      September 7, 2019

And now Freedomites will vote for UWP to get rid of the DLP. We all need to use our vote to preserve our democracy, our right to freely chose who will represent us in government. DLP is a threat to our democracy and right thinking Dominicans will not allow them to remain in office. Freedomites, If DFP doesn’t have a candidate in your constituency, vote for the saw! Labourites will also vote for UWP because they want jobs, they too want equal and fair treatment for all our citizens. They want healthcare for the NorthEast. They want Layou bridge repaired. They want better pay for our public servants and better working conditions. They want inputs for our farmers, access roads and new markets overseas. UWP can make all of this happen and more.

While we grieve, sympathize, and empathize with our brothers and sisters in the Bahamas, we must look into our hearts and question the ferocity of these storms that are affecting us in these times. We as a Caribbean people MUST seek redemption, and a positive change in the conduct of our daily lives. The Creator, Elohim of Israel, is trying to get our attention, trying to ask us to come back to him. Please my people take heed. Unless we all change our ways soon, we will experience more of these devastating storms. A vision showed me a storm every 2 years in different regions of the Caribbean, including Dominica in 2030. SEEK GOD, he is our salvation.

@ understanding,….you are right. Further more the Hurricane season is not over. Right now there are six possible ones, 2 in the Pacific and 4 in the Atlantic shaping up.
We saw what Maria and Dorian can do. We need to continue praying to Jesus for protection and defense from weather related disasters, especially hurricanes. Remember Jesus can calm storms, can make them change to gentle breeze and drizzle just as he did to Dorian in our case. Amen.

DFP, I can feel your passion for people in Dominica and the rest of the world.
DFP did an excellent job after David and served with no fear or favor.

Looking forward in seeing DFP in Government again to bring back a united Dominica.

It was O. J Seraphine that was in office as part of a care-taker government at the time of hurricane David, not the freedom party.

They did nothing but harass and victimize DLP supporters.
Just like what they did for Maria, nothing. One big fat nothing like their uwp comrades-in-doing- nothing, sitting on their hands with their eyes closed.
If you want to extend praise say “Good Job” to Dominica with the first person, the first PM to assist the Bahamas. .

DFP did nothing re David. While people were trying to got their lives together they were shouting “election now”.
Then when they got into power it was victimization time.
The present DFP is just a side show which is not going anywhere in a hurry.
Their nightmare dream is to form a coalition but the attitude now looks like a political collision.
Well the Red Champs are ready. Collision or coalition, the harder they come the harder they will fall.

These horrific natural phenomena are too frequent in recent times. All of CARICOM should come together and devise ways to mitigate against such widespread destination in the event of future natural forces. May the good Lord help the beleaguered people of Dominica to recover soonest.
