Both the Dominica Labour Party (DLP) and the United Workers Party (UWP) have postponed political events which were scheduled to be held tomorrow Sunday July 14, 2019.
The DLP announced today that the launch of its candidate for the Roseau North constituency, Joseph Isaac, which was carded for Lindo Park in Goodwill has been postponed to Sunday July 21, due to a weather system that is expected to affect Dominica for the entire weekend.
The UWP also stated in a release that its rally planned for La Plaine this Sunday, has also been postponed to next Sunday.
“After having carefully considered the advice of the local weather experts and concerns for the safety and welfare of its supporters and the citizens of Dominica generally, a decision was taken to postpone the Eastern Zonal Rally, carded for Sunday July 14 to next week Sunday 21st July 2019,” the party said in its release . “Further announcements will be forthcoming.”
The leadership of the UWP has apologized for any inconveniences that may be caused because of this decision.
“The safety of citizens is always of paramount importance,” the release concludes.
For those of us who closely follow satellite imagery and the wealth of information that is available via the National Hurricane Center, etc. from mid-day Saturday there was every indication that Sunday for us would be a dry day with only isolated showers.
I am not saying that it is better to be prepared and to ere on the side of caution, but since Erica our forecasting has tended to be paranoid.
On the other hand, by closely following and interpreting available on-line information, all indications were that Dominica would suffer torrential rainfall from Erica and the writing was on the wall at least twelve hours before the storm hit us.
Likewise, beforehand, pressure gradients suggested that Maria would significantly increase in strength and turn towards us. Fortunately that same high pressure kept the hurricane moving at a relatively high speed.
A lifetime of crossing oceans in small boats with just a barometer for reference has taught me a lot about weather…
The DLP should just abandon the idea of launching modern day Judas. This is an exercise in futility. This imposter can never be trusted. His allegiance is to money not any particular political party. Dominicans, don’t allow him to fool you twice. He doesn’t care one iota about poor people. He salivates over money like a starving dog over a tasty bone. Fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me. Never again should Joseph Isaac, a.k.a. Modern Day Judas, be allowed to fool DLP or UWP. This is a dishourable man.
So what did the DLP release say?
Lol ikr. I was wondering the same thing.

Interesting read.
That said I hope it gives PM more time to change the location of the launching of Joseph Isaac. From day one I have been asking myself wby did PM choose a location so close to tbe hospital where so much noise and busy traffic is expected for no fewer than nine hours. Come on PM its to lead by example because the hodpital is not noise proof and Lindo Park is less than 500ft away sir. Why do that to sick people that are suffering? Is that how we show love or, is that our way of saying to hell with others as long as it satisfy my ego? I do ref that even My eyes are RED to the point that people asking me if I have Red Eyes but I dont see red or blue. I only see black and white and right from wrong and to me this one is very wrong for the government to do
They must be in the area to show off the new road.
DNO I always respect you but this time I must say that I am very disappointed you put Skerrit Labor Party (SLP) koshoni withJoseph Isaac type of makaqwee, together with UWP artícle. SLP koshoni should be a separate article from that of the true, honest and visionary UWP.
2 parties…none better than the other….poor decisions by both…lovely weather on sunday july 14th…uwp missed an opportunity big time..
It’s always better to play it on the safe side. Prevention is always better than cure. Weather prediction is not an exact science.
